  1. Little Luki has just been put into bed. (His crate) he came out and had a little bit of chicken & rice, and lots of cuddles. Yes Teekay, it will be very hard parting with this little fellow. I am trying not to think about it at this stage. He has such a lovely nature, even the Vets wife commented on his beautiful nature. He is quiet and loving. Ofcoarse, he'd still be recovering. He is very interested in bugs. A big cockroach wandered into the loungeroom, you should of seen those antenna ears go up. Gorgeous. He chased it around and had a great game of it. He is so thin. He reminds me of a baby mouse. His little bones sticking out all over the place. ;) He still hasnt pooed. I have been waiting for him to, but he hasnt.....yet. He has had his antibiotics for the night. It will be early to bed for me tonight. Now he is home, I can rest.
  2. Little Luki has arrived home safe and well. He is a gorgeous little boy, very submissive, and loves the kids. He is so tiny. he weighs only 4.6kgs. It took him only a short time to settle into his crate. At first he had a whinge, and wasnt keen on the idea, but settled after a little while. He is sleeping atm. He has to come back out shortly, to have his meds and a little run around. Here are some pics I took on is arrival.
  3. to that! Less than 2 hours to go! Yippee Noelene called to say he ate all his lunch, bar a little bit. He is anxious to get out of the cage, but behaving himself. I asked if he was being a good boy, she said "Yes" I have butterflies, can you believe it?
  4. I LOVE it Teekay. She looks so happy! Both girls do! And yes Jacks very happy. We all are.
  5. Oh there will be lots of happy updates and plenty of pics to come. Only a few hours to go now. Not that I am counting or anything. OH gets in about 5. I will go pick the little desexed boy up first. Bring him back, then return for Luki. I am nervous, excited & happy in one. Little Jack is over the moon. When I called OH to tell him of the good news this morning (had it on loudspeaker) Jack yells out to him, "Luki is coming home today". Luki will be kept isolated from the other dogs for a few weeks, but its for everyones good, and standard procedure for a new comer. Once that time is up, I will introduce him to my old husky girl, Gypsy. She will mother him to no end. She loves pups, especially of her own kind. She is a sweet ol' girl. She is my heart dog, and has been there for me, through many ups and downs. I wonder how Luki is going down there, not causing too much strife I hope. :D
  6. Yes they did. THANK YOU everyone. For your kind words, your thoughts, your preys, and your Bentleys... For your help with his name and for your offers of donations. It wasnt just me who saved Luki, it was a big group effort from you all. I cant tell you how grateful I am, and I am sure little Luki would be too. ;)
  7. ~Luki comes home today~ ;) :D ;) I called the Vet this morning to let them know I was running a little late. (These things happen when you have kids ;) ) His wife says "The other little one can come home today" I asked "What?" thinking I was hearing things She said the drip was taken out this morning and he ATE some chicken!!!!!! When I arrived with the 2 kids, a dog in a crate (for desexing) and a bowl of food for Luki, (which she put in the fridge as he'd just eaten) I couldnt believe it was the same little dog. OMG! I couldnt stay for long as I had the kids but I made sure he got lots of pats. I didnt take his toys or food treats as he is coming home this afternoon. He is looking 100%. He was even carrying on, trying to get out. When I had to leave him, I could hear this softest, sweetest little howl calling me back. I said to Nolene, he sure is better. She agreed, laughing. So guys, this is it. Today is the day, little Luki will get to come home. The day I feared, would never come, is finally here!!!!!!!!! :D Happy tears ofcoarse :D
  8. Oh I will Teekay! Just got a round of (human) baby bottles to fill, then its off to la la land for me. :D I am buggered. ;)
  9. That was the Vets main concern from the start "Getting him over the hump". I am so glad he has pulled through. Being in his poor condition, I didnt like his chances, but never gave up hope. Just goes to show once again, miracles can and do happen Luki is proof of that. :D
  10. ~~Update~~ Vet just rang at 10:05pm to let me know little Luki is doing well. He even ate a little bit of meat tonight. :D We are getting there!!!!!! Ross told me to bring him some more of that meat tommorow, so I am defrosting some steaks to fry for him tommorow. I will also take him some VIP roll, and some dry food. Oh and his treats ofcoarse. I will get to see him twice tommorow. I drop a dog off for desexing in the morning, then when I go and pick him up in the afternoon, will get to see Luki again! :D He still has to stay for a couple of days yet, but I cant tell you the relief I feel. I think I will sleep like a log tonight. ;) At last I can rest knowing he is on the mend.
  11. Havent heard back from the Vet yet, so hopefully no news is good news as they say. Thinking of him down there. I hope the other little one is going ok. (The blk & wht one). I hope he is picking up just as well as Luki is. If so, these two little babies may get their happy ending, after all. I went to Cassisi pet supplies this morning as I had to get a bag of straw for the guinea pigs. Jack picked out 4 toys for Luki including, 2 squeaky balls, a little dog teddy that makes barking sounds and a rubber boot thingy that squeaks also. I picked Luki out some treats in the hope it may coax him to eat! His Vet bed is washed and dried, with the help of good ol' Mum, who insisted she knew best when I dropped in to fill her in on Luki's progress. In the bath tub went the Vet bed. :D One bottle of hospital disinfectant, and a half a bottle of bleach later, she still wasnt done. Poor vet bed. In the washing machine next, half a box of radiant and she was off. I came home for a while and by the time I went back it was dried and bagged ready to go. It faired well, I will give it that. They are fantastic arent they? So tommorow Luki will get his bed back, some toys and treats. I will buy him a special little collar tonight, as he didnt have one on. He still has the blue sticky tape, pound staff put around his neck, with his impound number. When I picked him up, pound staff started to look for the little blue diamonte one he came in with. I said not to worry as I was in mad rush to get him to the vet. There was no time to waste, looking for collars. I cant wait to see him again. Poor Jack hasnt seen him since he we picked him up on Friday, but i keep him updated and tell him he is getting better and can come and play soon. I have to say also, as sick as Luki was on Friday, he delighted in seeing the kids. Little Bailey was in his pram (My son Bailey, not the husky Bailey ) and was making these cute little baby sounds, waving his hands about, wanting to touch him. He didnt get a chance to, either did Jack. Hopefully, they will soon. He is going to be one spoiled pup, thats all I can say.
  12. The phone rang at 9 this morning. I was half asleep when I answered. It was the Vet. He told me "He isnt going too bad". I told him I would be down in a minute and rushed off to see him. On arrival Luki was sitting up! He recognised me instantly and began to wag and cry. I was so happy. He looks so much better again. I took his Vet bed home to wash and changed his bed, any excuse to get him out and hold him. He wagged the whole time in my arms. He is so light. Ross said he is showing more interest in food, but still not ready to eat yet. He had a little play and even nibbled my hands ever so gently. He is very sweet. Oh and he keeps trying to bite at the bandage on his leg, the little bugger, a good sign he is getting better! He almost ate a little bit of meat from me. I am so happy, he is actually starting to behave and look like a normal, happy pup. When I went to leave he whined and cried wanting me to come back...... so I did, several times. I'd open the gate on his pen and just snuggle my head into his. He loved it. And when he sits up, he lifts his little bandaged leg, like he is showing me. So, so cute. The Vet said he will give a call later this arvo to let me know how he is going. I bought the Vet bed home and its going to get a wash, i will take it back tommorow. He has a nice blue blankie now to snuggle in to. There was a little pom in the cage next to Luki, he had a drip too and had black stains like poo on his back legs. I asked Ross if it was parvo too. He said no. Similiar symptoms but the dog tested negative to parvo. Poor little bugger, wishing him a speedy recovery too. I am so happy with little Luki's progress.
  13. Thanks Teekay. I will be taking that advice and signing off shortly. I do need it. Its been a hard couple of days. And thank you for that pic. It truly cheered me up and bought a happy tear to my eye. Please post it in Mya's thread when you get a chance. It's a gorgeous shot and shows just how happy she is, with youse. As for little Luki, I am thinking of him down there at the Vet. He is so close, yet so far. Here's hoping for more good news in the morning. I am sleeping with my phone under my pillow tonight, incase the Vet calls early. I will be up and out of bed quicker than you can say "Bob's your Uncle" I look forward to seeing him again. Its pelting down with rain here right now. I can hear the huskies out the back, clammer into their kennels. funny buggers. Fingers crossed little Luki is still ok in the morning. I am so nervous, and still have butterflies in my tummy
  14. Just a quick update: All 3 of these babies have settled well. There has not been any issues with fighting whatsoever. They are still being fed seperately to prevent conflict and Alaska even sits now before dinner, still doesnt stop her hoffing it down. She has slowed a tad. Jasmine is a slow, delicate eater now. Bailey is a shocker. The last 2 days he has waited deliberately for the other 2 to finish before starting his own. He will stand there giving Alaska the eye as she waits patiently to be let off her tether. I DONT let any of them off until all is finished, bowls are out of the run and then they can come off. They know the routine now and have a good old chat when I start to collect the bowls. At first Alaska would tangle herself up a little, so did Bailey but they are smart dogs and know now, how not to tangle themselves. Theyve all abandoned the 'favourite' kennel and now share the BIG one. They fit comfortably. I cant wait to start walking them. Oh and I know huskies arent usually guard dogs, but these ones let me know whenever someone is about or comes through the gate. They wouldnt hurt them, lick them to death more like it! But they sound intimidating. They have to have their daily doses of cuddles. They are very affectionate.
  15. I saw this little boy near the office when I was there last week. What a stunner! Poor little darling ... he looked so sweet. At least he found you and the vet! So glad to read the last few posts saying he is getting a bit better. He is very sweet Laika. The pic makes him look a little bigger than what he is. He still has his tiny baby pin teeth and his thingys havent even dropped yet. He is only young. Being so young and in such poor condition, and having the parvo test come back with a strong positive reading, I feared the worse. He still isnt out of the woods and to be honest I have butterflies tonight, worrying how he will get through tonight, and whether he will continue to improve.
  16. I am a firm believer in that also. "What goes around, comes around".
  17. It feels like a lifetime since I saw Luki last. a little over 12 hours ago. I look forward to seeing him tommorow and hope he is still on the mend. Thinking of him lots. And also the other little one(s) he was kennelled with.
  18. Glad you took care of them. and didnt dump them off to a pound or worse, like many others would, and like how these pups ended up in this mess.
  19. Dont ask I could be classed as a bit of an obsessive complusive disorder sufferer atm. I have 2 showers yesterday, another this morning. I use bleach for the thongs, diluted bleach for my hands/arms and anywhere else exposed to the dog. I also dissinfect with pino o clean. I change my clothes, they are put straight into the wash, I go around disenfecting and bleaching door handles or anything else Ive touched, which reminds me, I have to do the steering wheel. I basically take as much care as possible. If anything, I go over board a little, but best to be safe than sorry.
  20. Pound just called back. The other little one WAS admitted to Vet yesterday, (tried calling you Ros) will PM. He is sick with the runs and vomitting, no parvo test has been done but their Vet says it IS highly likely to be parvo. The pound has passed my ph number to the family, they are not sure if they can continue treatment as it has cost $500 already. It is a terribly expensive thing to treat. Very, very sad. He is on a drip at the monent, so thank God, he is getting some sort of help. I wish I knew what Vet he's at???? not that I could do much. The family is going to talk it over and hopefully call me. I knew he had it too.
  21. Luki's visit this morning went well. I would of stayed longer but OH has to get to his Dads to work on a car. I spent close to an hour with him. He is looking alot better. Still not eating, but he hasnt pooed at all. He even said a tiny hello today. It was adorable, and melted my heart. He knows his name is Luki now and responded to it quiet well. I offered him a tiny bit of steak I broke up into small peices, he smelled it, but didnt eat. At least he is showing a little more interest now. This little man will be so loyal. He absolutely thrives on cuddles. When you pull away the tail starts to wag, encouraging you to come back. He appeared happy to see, and I know I was happy to see him. He still has a little way to go, but I was so worried he wouldnt get through the night and after the Vet saying he had a 50/50 chance, it really frightened me, especially in the condition he is in. They probably came from a local BYB. Who knows how many others there were and the outcomes for them. I say they started to get crook, so the owners thought they'd drop them off to the pound and say they'd found them as strays. Who knows. some people...... I am waiting to hear back from the pound regarding the other little husky. They are going to get in ctc with the new owners and advise them of the situation. If the pup is sick and they cant afford treatment, Ros, from Husky rescue has kindly offered to take him on. She will care for him should be become ill, or require treatment. Thank you Ros. :D I will PM you as soon as any news. Illy just rang. She said she was going to ctc them. Apparently the other little one WAS a little lethargic/had the runs at one stage, but picked up a little. The man who bought him, was told it may or may not be serious. He said he was going straight to the Vet so fingers crossed he did. Back to Luki. The Vet is closed for normal business of a Sunday, but he said they would call when they were doing the morning rounds to let me come see him. ;) (They are only down the road, almost walking distance) So I will visit the little Luki tommorow and hope he continues to improve.
  22. Luki made it through the night and is "alot better" according to my Vet. I am so happy. I spoke to his wife first, she said he was a lot better this morning, much better to what he was when she saw him last night. Ross said he picked up after I spent time with him last night. I knew it would help. Oh I cant wait to visit him today. I was so excited on the phone. I know its not over yet and he isnt 100% but he isnt getting worse, he is showing signs of improvement. I cant tell you all how happy I am. Before I rang, I was so nervous, I vomitted. It took a little courage to pick up the phone, but I did. I had to know, either way. I want to Thank everyone for their support and kind offers. And help with his name! Luki is soft and beautiful, just like him and if it means "fighter" well that is him, he sure is a little fighter. I have contacted Illy this morning. It is vital she contact the owners of the other little blk & one pup, as the Vet is almost certain he would of had it too. I am waiting for her to call back. It has been a long, worrying night. I am waiting OH's return. He took his little one to football. I told him to hurry back, I have to see Luki. (The Vet closes at 1pm) I will be sure to give him lots of cuddles from you all. :D Thank you again - if it wasnt for your support and well wishes, I would of been lost.
  23. Luki is nice. I have spent the night looking up names. My eyes have turned square. These were some I found with their meanings: B.B. = Beautiful baby Balin = Powerful and strong Kobi = means joy in japanese Beau = Handsome Tikaani = Wolf Kaskae = Chief Nanook = Cute, kind Conri = King of wolves Ralf = Red wolf Dustin = Brave Warrior What do youse think? I do like Luki. It has a soft sound to it, just like him. Kobi is nice also. ETA Obviously hit wrong key and posted a blank lol!! Well k9angel, if you're up at the computer now then I assume that no news is good news thank goodness. I reckon with soooo many people praying for him he can't do anything but come good  So to names I liked Nanook the best but also Luki and Balin. I'm sure you will come up with just the right name for him when the time comes. Glad I am not the only one still up on DOL. :D I will be ringing first thing in the morning. I keep looking at the pic of the blk & wht husky and wondering what happened to him and if he's ok. I am ringing Illy also, and requesting she call the ppl who adopted him to let them know whats going on. Hopefully, if he got sick too, they would of taken him to a Vet. I worry toooo toooo much. My Dad was the same, I think its where I get it from, that and the fact, I care. I saw my Dad cry only once in my life - and it was over a dog. Ive been thinking about the little man all night. I doubt I will sleep much. I am glad I took his Vet bed, so he had a nice comfy, warm bed to sleep on. He jumped straight on it, when I put it in. :D little bugger.
