  1. Taken today - as you can see he is filling out nicely This one taken a few days ago. Luki gets used of living with other pets. (guinea -pigs and birds) I should note though this is the tame lorrie that flew in a couple mths back. This bird actually plays with Luki (and the other dogs) through the cage wire.
  2. Taken today. He is watching Jack intently in this shot, waiting to pounce... Up to no good (he'd been chewing the tent) Both up to mischief here pups just looove to chew dont they? :p I can hear you but can't see you, thinks Luki as he hears Jack inside the tent couple more to come
  3. Well it has been almost 2 weeks already since Luki came home from the vet. Gee time flies these days.... He is doing great. He is asleep on the tiles atm, here in the kitchen, spread out like a starfish He likes to stay close to me. He just had a game with Jack. It was so funny, they rolled about in Jacks little tent. I got some pics. Will add shortly. Luki is a sweet little boy. He has a gorgeous personality. Very gentle, but like your typical pup, PLAYful But he loves his cuddle time too, and often mistakes himself as a lap dog as he plomps his backside on your lap. :p He is gaining weight nicely, and is starting to look like a healthy little pup. Oh and he loves being babied. He has this habit of carrying his squeaky toy about crying like a baby. I have another husky who does exactly the same thing. His main diet is still chicken and rice and he gets a meaty bone to keep him going between meals. He loves to hide things too, the little bugger. Namely his bones!!!! This was taken the other day as Bailey had a game of football with Luki From the loungeroom to the bathroom, they had a good 'ol time More to pics to come just waiting for Flickr to upload
  4. I lived in Orange for a few years. Lovely town. This wasnt going on back then, (as far as I knew or heard) I could of lost my huskies if it was. ;) I feel sad for the dogs stolen and the sad families left behind. What are they doing with them I wonder? removing chips and selling them? Using them as breeding stock on puppy farms??? Poor dogs. How sad. :D There are many small towns with properties/farms out that way, some cruel bas@ard probably has a shed/garage set up for the purpose of producing puppies.... :D who knows?
  5. I agree. I am sure there is the perfect home for him out there somewhere.... it just has to be found. He sounds like a lovely dog, who is just best suited to a different household. I have a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old (human kids) and believe you me, the racket and commotion they can make. and kids can be so full on, at any age. Please dont give up on him....yet Have you tried contacting Save a shep?
  6. I feel sad for the lady injured but no one was there to see what happened. There are 2 sides to a story, then there is the truth. Ofcoarse I am not saying anyone deserves to be attacked, especially to that extent, ;) but whose to say the dog wasnt abused/being abused and defended itself??? Maybe it did go stir crazy on the end of A chain - who knows? I find it hard to believe the dog would just turn like that, especially so bad. My neices that were dog invloved in that dog attack a few weeks ago in Fairfield NSW jumped on that particular dog, pulling its ears and Gods know what. (I wasnt there and never saw the dog in question in person) the dog was trying to kill the cat and ofcoarse they got bitten as they got in the middle, trying to save the cat. (which they did) I saw the wounds they had on their arms. The media made out one had a finger severed at one stage. In all honesty they were small puncture marks. Not the damage you'd expect from a supposed pitty x. I did see a pic of this dog, its head was twice the size of my 10yr old neices but I am no expert on pitty x's so cant confirm that he was one. Then just recently I was in ctc with a family, theyre 3 yr old son was involved in a terrible attack by a labelled pitbull or x. This was part of her email ________ attack happened 3 weeks ago. He is recovering well and thankfully will only be left with a scar under one eye as most of the other injuries are inside his mouth. He is full of stitches but as a mother of youngsters yourself you know how quickly children bounce back. At the moment we are unsure of any lasting dmage to feeling on his upper lip as this was completely severed from his gum. He is back to the surgeon next month for an assessment. Amazingly I am having extreme difficulty in bringing action against either the owner or the dog. As the attack happened at the dogs home the authorities are reluctant in taking action, and I am now lobbying my local member to become involved. I am completely astounded that this dog seems to have more rights legally than my son and any other person in this community. The dog is known to the local rangers as it has bitten a child previously 2 years ago as it was wandering unsupervised on public grounds. It looks as if we will be facing a long and costly civil law suit to make the dog owner take responsiblilty. Even her own vet has advised that the dog is dangerous and should be put to sleep. As a dog lover myself I am sad that it may come to this but more concerned for the welfare of all children in this suburb. Very sad. They had to rehome their 2 sheps who'd been family pets because the young son couldnt bear being around them. I think the sheps were 5 yrs old. The family was distraught parting with them, I just hope they got good homes. The son was scared as they were at face level with him and now he has a phobia of larger dogs. Poor kid. In this case the person who owns this dog should be shot!!!!!! To continually let a known HA dog roam, and get away with it is beyond me. As for the dog in question, IMO it should be pts.
  7. Premier John Brumby has assured Victorians tough new laws to crack down on dangerous dogs will be introduced shortly, following a savage dog attack. A 67-year-old woman nearly had her arm torn off by a Staffordshire pitbull-cross she was looking after in Portland on Tuesday. Mr Brumby said the government had already announced new laws to tackle dangerous dogs and they would be introduced soon. "We've committed to tougher penalties, there's legislation that will be introduced into the parliament in the very near future which gives effect to that," he told reporters on Wednesday. "This will involve tougher penalties, some curtailment of people's rights and for dangerous dogs that aren't identifiable and that are roaming the streets, council officers will be able to apprehend them and put them down within 24 hours." Mr Brumby said a 2005 Victorian ban on breeding and importing American pitbulls had seen their numbers decline. But the government decided at the time that it would be an overreaction to force the animals to be destroyed. The woman, who suffered severe injuries to both arms and face, is recovering in The Alfred hospital in Melbourne and listed in serious but stable condition. She had been attacked in an unprovoked mauling by the family pet that lasted for several minutes. Neighbours had to beat the dog away with a wheelie bin. The dog was killed by police following the vicious attack.

  10. Axle 15.10.09 - 22.3.10 R.I.P. Baby boy :D ;) :D Axle you werent even 5 months old. I rescued your Mummy from the pound, heavily pregnant. Many feared your Mummy may of needed a c-section so backed out. I was the only one left. I came the day before you were going to be pts in your Mummys tummy. I arrived on the Sunday. It was wet and rainy. They had a metal whelping box set up for your Mummy, with a few rags for bedding. It broke my heart. I had my eye on your Mummy from day 1, but didnt know she was pregnant, until she started to get fatter and fatter. I took her home on the Sunday, refusing to let you all die. It was to be the start of a fun journey. On Thursday 15th Oct 2009 you made your entrance into the big wide world. All 5 of you. No c-section required. You were strong and healthy. The next few weeks you grew and grew. Soon your eyes were open and youse would spend hours on end playing with my 2 human kids, Jack & Bailey. You adored them. You were the biggest of the 5 pups, but so docile and gentle. We gave you guys lots of attention and love, you deserved it, as did you Mummy who was also spoiled rotten. The weeks flew by. They do say time goes fast when youre having fun. Well it did. You were always a joy to have around. As the other pups found homes, I felt sad for you. Maybe it was your large size, the reason you were overlooked, I dont know, but you were always left behind. One day at the pound I saw my Vet and his Son looking for a dog to adopt. They wanted a staffy type, something young so it would get used of their other pets. They had no luck so I mentioned Chloes pups. I had 2 left at this stage. Soon to be one, YOU. Nothing was really said of you after that day until my next trip to the Vet. A meeting was arranged and the rest was history, they fell in love with you. I was so happy for you - getting the best home of all. They say good things come to those who wait - it was so true in your case. You had a great new family to love & spoil you rotten. You were so Lucky and I was so proud getting to see you whenever I'd visit the Vet. (at least twice a week) You never did forget me and when I'd be at the surgery talking to your human Daddy, you'd whine and whine until I said hello or your human Daddy (the vet) told you to shut up. You were such a character boy - they loved the way you'd trip over yourself. So clumsy, yet so cute. When I rang the Vet, your Daddy, today to ask a question for a neighbour, I was deeply saddened at the news of your sudden passing to parvo. You had been double vaccinated. They told me you were a little quiet on the Saturday and Sunday, but then when they went in to work today, they called to you and you didnt come. They went looking for you, only to find you......gone. Forever. They say you had a little parvo poop beside your body. You showed no other symptoms apart from being a little quiet. They NEVER thought in a million years you'd have parvo virus, for if they did - they would of helped you. You will be very missed by all, including me. I saw you last Saturday and avoided giving you hugs as I had been to visit a parvo patient. I didnt want to make you sick. If only I knew. I am shocked and sad at your sudden departure and I will miss you. You will never be forgotten and will always be loved. Goodbye Axle boy :D ;) The day you were born 1 week old 2 weeks old
  11. Welcome back!!! As far as I know the little staffy he was kennelled with is fine. She has gone off for desexing. She was given a parvac shot upon being impounded. The other little husky, the blk and white one, I am not sure of. They did have my number incase they could not afford treatment, as Husky Rescue were going to take over. I hope he/she made it through ok. Little Luki is going great. He is such a sweet little boy. He has settled in fine. I notice at night when we all go to bed, he has a little howl, but not for long and soon settles to sleep. He just wants to be close, thats all - and not miss out on anything! He is still eating chicken & rice but I started to add a little VIP roll to his lunch today. He enjoyed it. I held him up at the back window yesterday for my lot to see. You should of seen the faces of excitement. Lukis tail was wagging as I held him and he looked out the back at all the other huskies. It was cute. Luki enjoys to play. The other night, him and Bailey (my Son) were having a game of football. It was adorable to watch. They had this foam footy and Bailey was picking it up and tossing it for Luki to fetch. As soon as it hit the ground both would take off, Luki running and Bailey crawling as fast as he possibly could, racing to beat eachother to the footy. When Luki would get it, Bailey would chase him down until he got it back and toss it, so the chase would start again. I dont think I have ever heard Bailey giggle so much. I did get some pics I will upload later. Jack babies him to no end. I dont think I have heard a dog get as many "Awwww's" and cuddles as this pup gets, oh apart from his own dog, Jasmine.
  12. I agree. I have several sibes, all pets. I have never had trouble with them escaping, maybe because theyre just happy to be in their pack, I dont know. I think theyre a wonderful breed. I have owned them for 10+ years now and wouldnt want any other dog. Yes, you have to make sure doors and gates are shut, but again like Silverhaze has said, it comes down to responsible ownership.
  13. Yes he is crated the majority of the time. He will not dirty in there though and whines when he wants to come out and do a wee or poo or both, and also to get some attention. I have been bleaching very carefully after his poo's. He only does 1 a day, early morning. I also bleach his crate regulary (2 to 3 times daily) even though he hasnt messed in there. Because I have so many other dogs here, I have to be extra careful, and also careful I dont walk it out onto the street for some other poor dog to get. I wouldnt wish parvo on any dog.
  14. Will do. He is a cute pup isnt he? but what puppy isnt? He's a special little boy, and he knows it.
  15. No. No mention was made of a special diet. I am feeding him chicken and rice and the odd treat here and there. The Vet did recommend feeding him several smaller meals a day, as opposed to less, bigger feeds. Just until his belly can cope. I expected that anyways, with him being so thin. I also have another parvo survivor, who is 6 now. (she was about 12 wks when she got it ) She was treated through a different Vet and same story, no mention of a special diet. She has gone on to live a normal, happy life and is gorgeous. She is a husky also.
  16. This is his favorite teddy He loves teddies Cute...... You can see how thin he is. Hopefully, the rate he is eating, he will fatten up in no time.
  17. Taken yesterday - getting some sun in a small patch that was shining through the window Taken early this morning, eating a bit of dried chicken sausage Such big paws and ears to grow in to...... This is a cute one - who could resist that little face? He also has long legs to grow in to Playing fetch more to come
  18. An update on little Luki. Little Luki has been discovering toys today. He loves them. He carries them around in his mouth, making little crying sounds. Its so cute. He is learning to fetch the ball and already brings it back. This little fellow is extremely intelligent. He has learned to walk on the lead (inside the house) and picked it up first go. I am teaching him to sit and shake. He spotted himself in the mirror yesterday. It was so funny. The head went from side to side, ears pricked. He got up on the dressing table today and was nose to nose with this mysterious other dog who copies his every move. Tail wagging, he admired himself. :D As per usual he woke me early to go to the toilet, have a run and have his breakfast. He is better than an alarm clock! Everyday he seems a little brighter. I am very pleased with his recovery. A few pics to come later, my computer is running super slow atm. :D
  19. Little Luki continues to improve. He woke me up again early this morning to come out and go toilies. He howled a little bit (in his crate) last night after being awoken from his little nap with Jack. But settled about 15 mins later. He is eating well. I offer several small meals a day. I have to say the chicken in rice is his fav. He adores Jack. I think he thinks the sun shines out of his butt. :D He loves Bailey too and vice versa. Bailey has been intrigued with him since he first saw him. Bailey is only 1, (human baby, that is ;) ) and I think the fact Luki has different coloured eyes, fascinates him. He giggles at him and ofcoarse little Luki doesnt mind the attention. Yesterday, Jack was calling Luki Teddy Bear. I think because he is soft like one. Oh and Luki has the cutest little habit. When you pat him and make babying sounds, like awww....you ok little boy? He lifts his paws and covers his eyes like he is shy.....
  20. Little Luki is settling in just fine. He follows me around everywhere. Would you believe he goes to the front of the human toilet and wee's. Its incredible. He is so smart. He has been nibbling all day, so I am pleased with that. He only eats a little at a time. He was laying on Jack, who had just fallen asleep on the lounge, he (Luki) was listening to Susan Boyles "Amazing Grace". "I once was lost, but now I am found, was blind but now I see". How fitting for little Luki. Some pics taken this afternoon and tonight Taken this afternoon - sitting with JAck on the lounge Another one taken in the afternoon. Look at his little bony hips.... although he is much better now to when I first picked him up. He had that sucked in look to him. Luki's crate. It is nice and roomy for him. It was kindly given to me by the vet. :p Taken tonight on the lounge as Jack fell asleep Falling asleep to Susan Boyle Both in la la land - sleeping peacefully
  21. Luki is proof that "Anything is possible" when you dont give up hope. And yes he is so tiny and thin. He has eaten well today, hopefully it wont take long to fatten him up. He comes out again shortly. He likes to suggle his nose under your arm or into your lap. He is a very loving and very gentle natured baby. he is adorable...i still dont understand how these babies get left in the pound...wasnt someone looking for him.. its so sod. IMO this little one and the blk & white one came in together. Apart from colouring, they were identical, in age, size, no microchips and both were in incredibly poor condition. One came in first, than a few hours later the other arrives. *suss* They were probably starting to show signs of sickness at home so the owners thought they'd offload them. Prob got one family member to bring one in, then a friend or other family member to bring the other. Very sad. If only Luki could talk, I say he would tell a very sad and sorry tale. I do not know how the other little husky is fairing, but I hope she too, is recovering. I also do not know how the other little pup is going, that shared their kennel. The staffy x girl. I hope she is ok also.
  22. Luki is proof that "Anything is possible" when you dont give up hope. And yes he is so tiny and thin. He has eaten well today, hopefully it wont take long to fatten him up. 23. Luki woke me up this morning just before 7. I came out and let him out of his crate. (after I rounded Gypsy, Jasmine and Bobby into the spare room) He was so excited to see me. He did a poo at 7.35am. Nothing messy or smelly. It was mostly solid. Out came the bleach, the boiling water and gloves. Thankfully he did it on the lino and not the carpet. He had a game with the lorrikeet through the cage. The lorikeet thought it was just as much fun as he did. Then the guinea pigs. (who come in at night) he was trying to have a game with them, running around the cage, ears pricked. It will do him good to see all these other animals. His food bowl was empty this morning, so I am just warming some chicken and rice for his brekky. He has to have small, regular meals. I was in bed before 11 last night (I think) I fell asleep watching spongebob squarepants with Jack. :D Luki is watching the guinea pigs atm. He is fascinated at these little animals, rustling in the straw. I just snapped a pic. Upload in a min. ;) Awww.....guinea pigs He is such a gorgeous little creature. ;)
