  1. Aww glad to hear she is doing so well. She looks such a sweet girl and is very lucky to have you (and vice versa ofcoarse ) She's gorgeous. Great job.
  2. Sorry Pers. Hugs to you. You're Mum was probably there awaiting her arrival. R.I.P. Tiy Run free and young again girl.
  3. Poor lady. That would of been absolutely terryfing and a terrible way to die. Again it comes down to irresponsible owners IMO. I do believe the dogs reponsible should be pts, but I hope they prosecute the owners to the full extent too. If they had of kept their dogs in a secure yard to begin with, and socialised them properly, it probably wouldn't of happened in the first place and this lady would still be alive. Very sad. :D
  4. So sorry to hear of your tragic loss. to you and your family. xxx
  5. Ofcoarse that'll be the case. A slap over the wrist and a measly fine. It makes me so sick. They know they are going to get away with it and DO get away with it. It's disgusting.
  6. R.I.P. poor boy. Absolutely disgusting and heartbreaking. Hope the 'oxygen thief' responsible, rots in hell.
  7. Have you tried advocate? I recently had 2 X 5 mth old rescue pups diagnosed with sarcoptic mange. I used advocate (as advised by my vet). The scratching stopped almost straight away and within a week, a week and a half the hair was growing back. I also treated my Mums dog who had a terrible flea allergy on her rump. Treated her on the 26th last month and now you can barely tell she had it to begin with. Incredible. I order mine online through ebay. So much cheaper than the shops charge.
  8. I think it is cruel. I saw the footage on the news and at first I thought 'oh how sweet' until they showed the poor roo and the way he kept falling over. That is just sad.
  9. I am so so sorry Julz. My thoughts are with you and your family including Indie at this very sad time. I got to meet Bonnie in person a few weeks ago and she was a gorgeous girl and obviously very much loved. This has come as a shock to me, so I can only imagine what you would be going through at the moment. Sending hugs and condolences to you and your family. And please remember Julz, I am only a phone call away, even if you just need a shoulder to cry on, I am here. R.I.P. Beautiful Bonnie
  10. OMG that is not far from me. Reading that made me sick. How can someone do that? Effing sadists. May karma get them good and proper. R.I.P. poor dog. :D
  11. I just read the good news on Yahoo. It made my day. http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/world...reunited-owner/ A dog that was rescued from a floating roof off Japan's tsunami-battered north-east coast was reunited with its owner on Monday, public broadcaster NHK said. Two-year-old Ban yapped and jumped into the arms of her owner, a woman in her 50s and a resident of Kesennuma in Miyagi prefecture, a port town severely hit in the March 11 disaster, television footage showed. A Japan Coast Guard elite rescue unit picked up the dog after spotting it on a floating house roof two kilometres from Kesennuma, in a rescue widely broadcast as a rare happy moment amid the calamity. The woman recognised her pet, which was kept in an animal shelter following its rescue late last week, after watching NHK. "I recognised her immediately after seeing her face," she said, hugging the animal as Ban licked her face. "I am happy that she seems healthy. I want to cherish her when I take her back." The Japan Coast Guard is still searching for thousands of people missing after the magnitude-9.0 earthquake and tsunami struck. The twin disasters killed 12,175 people and 15,489 remain missing, national police said. It's not the first story of canine survival that has moved the Japanese people. Recently a video showing a shivering and disoriented dog, remaining loyally by the side of a stricken fellow pooch, made national headlines.
  12. I just found this thread too. Glad to hear she is improving. I have 2 parvo survivors here. Blacky (husky) was about 10-12 wks when she got it and went downhill so fast overnight. One day she appeared a little off, the next morning she was clinging to life. She recieved treatment and nearly 6 years on, lives a normal, happy life. Luki (husky x) was rescued from the pound early last year. He was a very lethargic pup (appox 12 wks old), and close to dying when I picked him up and rushed him to the vet. He tested a strong positive to parvo. He has since grown into a gorgeous boy, with no health issues. A link to Luki's youtube video Never give up hope.
  13. That is a beautiful story, or I should say, miracle - and one extremely lucky doggie there. Watching that video and reading the story, bought happy tears to my eyes.
  14. Disgusting. Poor dog. :D A witness said the guy who was attacked lost half his penis. Bloody idiots.
  15. http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/newsh...harbour-waters/ Sydney residents were left in fear after a 'Nessie-like' creature appeared in the waters near the Harbour Bridge, according to eyewitness accounts. Detective superintendent Harvey Edison said that many local police station phone-lines were jammed from 6pm until late last night due to the large number of calls describing a “strange creature emerging from the waters”. Mr. Edison revealed that the reports initially came from people on cruises, ferries and boats on Sydney Harbour. “At first we dismissed the calls as a hoax since most of them were made by people on party cruises who were obviously inebriated.” Nonetheless, more eyewitness reports, photos and even videos soon made their way to various Police stations. “This is not the first time we’ve received reports of strange sightings in Sydney Harbour,” Mr. Edison admitted. “But, before yesterday, they’ve always turned out to be false.” According to the detective superintendent, usually these sightings are nothing but “prank calls” aimed at having a laugh at the expense of the NSW Police. “We’ve heard it all: from a shiver of vicious great white sharks, to a giant octopus. But never before had we received as many calls reporting the same incident as yesterday.” Mr. Edison said that all the videos and photos received are currently being evaluated by a team of experts to determine if they’re real or fake. Although he admitted that it was hard to believe that that much evidence “could have been fabricated in such a short period of time.” When questioned about the possibility of such a creature, prominent Icelandic marine biologist Tsüj Gniddik, who has spent most of his career studying unusual marine specimens, said that people shouldn’t be surprised if more of these sightings start happening all around the world. “As of late, the quantity of natural phenomena has increased dramatically,” Mr. Gniddik said. “Most of this activity happens underwater, at very deep levels, and is rarely felt on the surface. “These natural phenomena have created several cracks in the ocean floor, which serve as openings to unexplored areas. We have very little understanding of the fauna that resides in these places, as most of them have been cut off from the top level of the ocean for centuries and even millennia. “If you analyse most sightings of ‘mythical’ sea creatures throughout the years, it is usually a small group or a single individual who claim to have seen them, making these incidents almost impossible to prove. “The Sydney Harbour sea-creature is the first recorded incident of this kind where the same ‘creature’ was spotted by hundreds of people at the same time and at the same location, which makes it particularly significant.” According to an official statement, a team of experts – which includes world-famous biologists and divers – will soon arrive in Sydney to investigate the sightings. In response to the reports, NSW Police have cancelled all ferry and party cruise services until further notice, and asked people to refrain from sailing or using luxury boats on Sydney Harbour. The announcement has elicited a plethora of negative reactions from people who were planning on celebrating April Fools’ Day aboard one of Sydney’s popular party cruises.
  16. http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/break...10-000-penalty/ Update, 6.30pm: An elderly pensioner and hobby farmer, who shot dead his neighbours’ dog with “callous indifference”, has been left more than $10,000 out of pocket after a magistrate today found him guilty of maliciously wounding the tied-up animal. But Oakford great-grandfather Alf Carter, 75, told The West Australian after the verdict this afternoon that he shot the dog because it was a “dangerous dog” that had mauled his farm animals and he feared it would attack a child. Armadale magistrate Elizabeth Langdon fined Carter $4000 and ordered him to pay $6400 in prosecution costs after convicting him of maliciously wounding the animal following a trial in February this year. Carter said he was “very disappointed” with the decision. Speaking from his home, Carter said he was an “animal lover”. The mastiff cross named Seven, which Carter shot twice in December 2009, belonged to his neighbours and tenants, Lisa McGarvey, who desperately tried to stop Carter from shooting the tied-up dog on her back patio, and her fiancé William Godsell. The court heard Mr Godsell punched Carter after the shooting and Carter claimed he needed a hip replacement after falling from Mr Godsell’s “kinghit”. Carter claimed his neighbours’ dog had mauled and killed chooks, sheep and a working kelpie dog prior to the incident which sparked the shooting – a dogfight which injured his other kelpie. “That dog had to be put down because I was scared it was going to rip the throat out of a child if it got hold of one,” he said. Outside Armadale Magistrate’s Court this morning, Ms McGarvey and Mr Godsell said they were pleased their former landlord had been punished and the case was over, but it would not bring their much-loved pet back. Ms McGarvey said Seven, less than a year old, slept with their kitten and was not a “monster of a dog” as claimed by Carter. Ms Langdon said Carter’s actions were “cruel and inhumane” and the penalty needed to send a warning to others that animal cruelty would not be condoned in the community. The court heard evidence it took about 10 minutes for the dog to die after Carter shot it in the chest and head and walked away. Carter argued he was aiming for an instant-kill “brain shot”, but Ms McGarvey was pulling and pushing at him when he fired. Carter’s defence lawyer Ross Kerferd said his client made a “mistake of judgment”, but argued it did not involve “prolonged cruelty” and “heightened emotions” were felt by all parties. RSPCA spokesman Tim Mayne described the shooting as a “disgusting act” and welcomed the penalty. “Walking on to private property with a loaded shotgun and then shooting a dog is just unacceptable in anyone’s terms,” he said. Run free girl. XXX So sad. He would of needed more than a hip replacement had he shot one of my dogs. May karma pay him a visit.
  17. Your tribute to him is absolutely beautiful. Hugs and condolences. R.I.P. Kuga
  18. I am so so sorry you lost your girl Cowanbree. R.I.P. Quest Run free girl.

  20. Hi NAO, Sorry I cannot help with a recommendation for a behaviourist in QLD, however I was asked to pass on a message from Cyn (Mother moocher) and have sent you a PM.
  21. Cyn ( Mother Moocher) suggests: That vets start protesting about the huge numbers of animals killed in pounds.
  22. http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/newsh...lly-is-top-dog/ If the thought of spending $500 on a puppy causes you to break into a sweat, spare a thought for the new owner of the most expensive dog in the world. A Chinese coal tycoon has forked out 10 million yuan ($1.5 million) on Hong Dong, an 11-month-old Red Tibetan Mastiff puppy. The dog, whose name means "big splash" in Chinese, weighs 82kg and is nearly 1m high. The dog had been raised in eastern China on a diet of beef and chicken . . . and the occasional sea cucumber and abalone, his breeder said. "It is thought Big Splash could be hired out to other breeders as a stud for 100,000 yuan ($15,300) per time, with China's growing upper class increasingly keen on the breed due to its exclusivity," The Daily Maily has reported. "Big Splash has taken the title of world's most expensive dog from a fellow Tibetan Mastiff, with the oddly-named Yangtze River Number Two selling for 4 million yuan in 2009." Another of the dogs, Red Lion, was valued at 10 million yuan last year after it won a mastiff exhibition, The Mail said. "Reputedly owned by Genghis Khan and Lord Buddha, Red Tibetan Mastiffs are atypically found outside Tibet and are viewed as a pure 'Chinese' breed," the report said. "The breed is also considered one of the oldest pure breeds in the world and there are thought to be less than 20 remaining in Tibet. "The mastiffs have become a sought-after status symbol for China's newest millionaires, with rare stamps, antique vases and vintage wines also fetching huge sale prices in recent years." OMG he is gorgeous :D I just want to cuuuuuuddle the big bear.
  23. This was a comment on another video of the same dogs, hopefully it is true and I can stop crying. These 2 dogs have been rescued! Helped by a team of volunteers led by the owner of a pet food company : Kenn Sakurai - the only way they can access the region is on dirt bikes w/ cages strapped on the back. It took them 2-hrs to ride them to the nearest shelter in Mito, Ibaraki-ken. The white one still at the vet & his defender is waiting at the shelter. Thankyou, I hope so too! Same. I am sitting here in tears. :D That story just broke my heart when I saw it on the tele. PLEASE let it be true - that they are safe.
  24. So sad, my thoughts are with all those involved. A few months ago the neighbour, also a friend of ours had a pool set up so I took Jack over for a splash. It was a pool that had been given to us. One of those blow up ones that came to about my knee height. Having a 2 yr old and 4 yr old myself, I REFUSED to have it set up here (alarm bells rang) so gave it to them as they do not have kids. Jack WAS in arms length of me the whole time, but still went partly under the water, when he slipped and fell backwards. Thank Dog I was there to grab him - otherwise he would of went right under. Still, he was coughing and spitting out water, I seriously thought I had to call an ambulance. It was terrifying for him and for us. All it takes is a split second for something to go wrong.
  25. Welcome to DOL Sid, you cute thing you. Lola looks so so happy, I love the way she is looking at him in the 3rd pic.
