  1. OMG what a difference. You've done an amazing job Cathy.
  2. I have a little one that age. I couldn't begin to imagine how terrifying that would of been for her and her family. R.I.P. little one.
  3. I think it is fantastic these dogs are given a chance like that. Lucky went from pound dog to Hero. R.I.P. to two brave soldiers.
  4. Thinking of you Montage. Please try and stay strong, I know it's easier said than done. Enjoy every day you have with your precious girl. Dogbesotted is right. Don't let fear and sadness ruin these days. Enjoy them. Crossing everything here that everything turns out ok.
  5. Glad things are going well. Be extra vigilant as they approach sexual maturity - if you're going to see issues, odds are it's then that they'll start. Will probably get the boys desexed at 6 months. We are keeping out a vigilant eye on them in this area. They wrestle and mouth each other when playing but there has been no signs of any aggression so far. Yes I would highly recommend you get them both desexed. As other's have mentioned it's when they reach maturity that the problems may, or may not arise. Looking forward to pics. ;)
  6. Lashton, you said so yourself in your very first post that "You didn't want to get too bonded incase you had to give her to a new family. And this was what, 24hrs after you'd got her. Have you ever visited the Urgent Rescue section here on DOL? Seen how many staffies and staffy x's end up on death row in the pounds? Seriously, take a look. Maybe then you will see why some ppl here suggested you take her back to the breeder if you were unable to cope and already considering giving her away. We see too many beautiful dogs dying in pounds. And there probably are people on here that have nothing in there lives besides their dogs. That is not sad. Sometimes a dog is all you need and I am sure those people's lives are just as full and happy as your own. You'll understand One day ;) once you've had a dog in your life long enough to appreciate the love and joy they provide, and that feeling of completness they can bring to your life. Oh and I am glad to hear your little one is settling in. Wishing you all the best for the future.
  7. What about Shila. The meaning of Shila is "flame".
  8. So true RnB. I don't know what to make of it either. It all sounds a little odd to me. It'll be interesting to see what the outcome of the coroner's report is.
  9. R.I.P. Gizmo. Run free. So sorry for your loss Ozjen. Your tribute to Gizmo is absolutely beautiful.

  11. I have only just read this. So sorry to hear of your loss Hafhafa. My thoughts are with you. R.I.P. Sally
  12. Hugs to you Alyson. She's probably up there teaching Gyps a thing or two and vice versa. Happy Birthday for today Miss Ricky.
  13. How sad. Poor little bugger. Good on you for helping him out. How sad for his family. I hope they got their other dog back ok. R.I.P. little one.
  14. Thanks guys for your kind words and support as always. I also want to say a special thankyou to Marion01. After I lost Whitey Marion got in ctc with me and asked if I would like a memorial poster made up. I gratefully accepted and I have to say she done a wonderful job. They came out beautiful. Marion has been in ctc almost everyday since and has not only helped me through this very sad past few months, but has also become a good friend in the process. Thanks Marion. And ofcoarse a thankyou to Cynthia aswell. Another caring friend I have made here on DOL and who continues to keep in contact to see if I am ok. Thanks Cyn. Now to share some of the lovely artwork Marion has made for me. I framed them today and hung them up. Each of the posters are A4 size and laminated. (also behind glass) I am so thankful. I love them to bits. This picture takes pride of place on my wall now, next to the plaque I made for Gyps. I also have a lovely one of Whitey that I have to get a frame for. I might even try and squeeze him into the big one, so they're all together. Gypsy, Cassie, Jay Jay, Claude and Whitey - now all And I even have one to hang above my bed. She'll always be watching over us.
  15. Please don't allow her to soil in her crate, no matter how big the crate might be. I am not picking or being nasty, just trying to get you to see it from her point of view and to help you both in the long run. So please don't be offended. And besides, they can be smelly little buggers when they do their number 2's. She'll stink out more than her crate, that's for sure. ;) Not nice for you or puppy to sleep in. Try setting up some newspaper in the laundry or bathroom and take her to do her business there, if you cannot take her outside. Once she's finished pop her straight back into her crate. It shouldn't take her long to get into a routine. Start her training now, stay patient and to keep it up. Persistance pays as they say ;) If she starts to cry or carry on after she's been to the toilet, just ignore her, I know it's hard but she'll go to sleep eventually. You'll soon learn to distinguish the difference between the "I want to get out and pee" cry and the "I want to get out and play" cry. You want to get her into good habits now while she is young, because they'll be harder, if not impossible to break when she is older.
  16. You've only had her 2 nights, give her time to settle in. I would not be leaving her alone at your husbands office. I agree with other posters, that would be just cruel. Among other things, what if she was stolen or there was a fire? no one would be there to help her. I wouldn't be able to sleep with worry at night if it were me. You need to keep her at home with you, so she can get used of her new family/pack, not be seperated from them. Is this your first dog? it usually takes them a good few days to settle in, esp babies, but they're all different. Some take longer, others quicker. I'd be putting her crate next right next to your bed, as close as possible, until she's used of it. Do you sleep with a lamp or tele on? if so, I'd turn it off so your room is in darkness. Maybe just use a torch when you take her out for wee wee's. Also when you say she has a hot water bottle, do you have a cover on it? she might be getting burnt, if not. Those things can get very very hot if not covered. Also your comment on not wanting to bond with her, incase you have to give her away, she probably senses that. Imagine how she feels being taken from her Mum and siblings, flying on a aeroplane and then turning up at a home where her new Mummy is unhappy and crying. Just relax and love her. She needs you more than ever at the moment. Explain to your neighbours what is going on and I am sure they'll understand. Also when she is old enough (had all her shots) why not look into dropping her to a puppy/doggy daycare (if you both work) I imagine she'd get bored at home all day on her lonesome, esp if she doesnt have a doggy friend and/or a yard to run and play in. That way, she'll get to mix and mingle with other people and dogs and you'll have peace of mind while you're at work. Just a thought, but please don't leave her in a crate all day, whatever you do. The vet at Auburn runs a puppy day care, I am sure there are other vets that do the same. Some people drop their dog off everyday, others just a couple of days a week. They drop them off in the morning before work and pick them up in the afternoon. I love seeing their tails wagging when they are awaiting their owners return. They're like excited little kids. Goodluck, she'll settle eventually, just try and be patient.
  17. A little video I made in memory of Gyps. I found some old photo's today as I went through my photo box. I had a good cry as I looked through them all, they bought back some lovely memories too. And a poem I was finally able to bring myself to write today. Gypsy You sat by my side as I wrote many a poem Now it's time to write a farewell to you I miss you girl, my heart is torn Life just isn't the same without you. I hope in time the pain will ease I hope the hurt does too, But for now, the tears they still fall My heart is broke in two. Sometimes I think I see you there Or hear you make a sound, I know you miss me as much as I miss you My heart tells me, you're still around. It's been 2 weeks and 3 days today Since you crossed that lovely Rainbow, I knew by the look in your eye's that night, That sadly, it was your time to go. Gypsy, you were more than my best friend, You made my life complete You were always there, through good and bad, Unconditionally, for me. They say that dog is man's best friend You proved that to be so true, Your love, your loyalty, your company Is at times, what got me through. Each night I light a candle for you And at night before I go to sleep, I stare out my bedroom window At that star that shines so sweet. Gyps, know I am always thinking of you You are always in my heart, Before I sleep, when I wake We are never far apart. It was sunny when I started this, Now it's pouring down wth rain Are you trying to tell me something, That you're crying just the same? One day I know we'll meet again In another time, another place And at last my heart will be whole again When I can hold you, and see your face. Until then be a good girl for Mummy, Don't eat too many pig ears, have lots of fun Run free with Claude, Cass, Jay and Whitey, Until we are together, back as one. Love you Gypsy. XXXX
  18. I have spoken to Marcus on several occassions and he has so many interesting stories to tell. They do a fantastic job with their dogs and it's not hard to see how much they love them.
  19. Great. I was all teary eyed just watching the preview. I still cannot wait to see it.
  20. Disgusting. I don't know how they sleep at night.
