That happened to me aswell with the frontline. I thought the fleas must of become immune to it. I changed to advocate and the dogs haven't had any problems with flea's since.

My Jasmine carries on like that when a storm is on it's way. She'll know way before I do. Like the other day, it was sunny outside but she was acting odd and hanging around me, quiet anxious. I thought to myself a storm is coming and sure as houses we got one not long after with lots of loud thunder. How is he doing now Staffyluv?

Catching up to Jasmine in height. Getting taller and lankier This one was taken yesterday. Takoda is modelling one of Baileys shirts that is too small for him now. Jack thought she was hilarious and she thought it was great.

An update on Takoda. She has been with us for just over a month already. That time has gone by so fast and she has grown so much. She is as nearly as tall as Jasmine now. She's a beautiful little girl and has settled right in. She knows sit and shake and how to walk on a lead. We practise a little each day. We are working on drop and stay now. She picks things up very quickly and will do anything for a liver treat, or any treat for that matter. She still loves to stand in the water bowl, despite me raising it. If I raise it anymore she won't be able to drink from it. So I continue with my towel cleaning ritual with her on board the towel though she is getting quiet heavy now. (either that or I just carry her in my arms as we go along). She had her 2nd vaccination the week before last and she was such a good girl. She got a good going over aswell and passed her check up with flying colours. I am hoping to put her into puppy playgroup 1 day a week too shortly to get her used of the little fluffies. It will do her good and she will have a ball playing with the other pups. I am still a little cautious with Luki in the yard as he is so much bigger than her, and I worry he'll accidently knock her over when he plays zoomies, he's like a tank and gets a good speed up. He is harmless otherwise. It wont be long though before they can both play zoomies together. Takoda has, as expected, also been helping me with my losses. I knew my babies could not be replaced but I also knew Takoda would help to heal my heart, and she has been doing just that. I still have my bad days here and there, but she helps to make me smile again (as do my kids and other furkids) and the not so good days are becomming farther and farther between. Ironically though, Takoda is so much like Gypsy. She constantly reminds me of her. I never set out to compare her, but the similiarities are uncanny. It makes me smile and remember Gyps, the little things she used to do and the good times we had. The way she circles before bed, the way she hides her food or goes to hide it then changes her mind and then eats it, the way she hiccups, the way she plays with Jasmine is exactly how Gyps used to. The way she shakes hands and sits there watching us eat. The way she follows me and sleeps at my feet no matter where I am sitting, the way she rubs herself into my hair just after it's been washed. There are other things too and I am not the only one who has noticed so I am not going mad. I have had a few sibes over the years and although some of them might do or might of done some of the things I mentioned above, no one has done it all and no one certainly did it like Gyps....until Takoda. I know Takoda is not Gyps. Takoda is Takoda and I love her for being her. If she were Gyps she wouldn't be getting into the water every 5 mins. Gyps was the opposite when it came to water. As strange and unbelievable as it might sound though, I can't help but think that part of Gypsy somehow lives on in Takoda. Some of the many pics I have taken since she's been home. Sitting on command Running like the wind Hiding in the grass Saying hello to Nanna Jasmine Trying to get Jaz to play A few more to come.

Jake - Little Kelpie Boy
k9angel replied to garnali's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Awww just look at him. That is the best news. When I saw his thread at the top, I felt sick and thought the worst. I am so happy it wasn't bad news. Big hugs to you for doing such a wonderful job with him and ofcoarse huge hugs to Jakey too. Keep it up little one! -
And at the tiger in a bookcase video. He slithered into that bookcase awfully fast. It was like now you see him, now you don't. Ewww....

Thanks guys. I am only too happy to help Ellie. And I agree, a huge thanks to Dogmad for bringing Ellie to our attention and for trying to find her the forever after home she deserves. I meant to write in my update yesterday that I got to see a pic of Ellie as a puppy. She was sooo cute and looked so cheeky sitting there with one ear up and one down. She was originally adopted from Wagga pound as a pup by M and her family. And yes as Dogmad mentioned, she was given to M's daughter as a Birthday gift.

Yes I should be able to meet up. Did you need a hand testing her with another dog? Did you want me to bring Jasmine (she's only half the size of Ellie) or do you have one in mind already? There is a small park almost opposite to where she lives which is a good neutral spot where we can meet up with the 2 of them to see how they go.

My thought too! She is shiny and beautiful and looks like such s sweetie! Her coat is in beautiful condition. So shiny and soft. On certain angles in the sun when we are walking, I can almost see my own reflection. It is very silky. The first thing I done when I got there was show M how to put the cream on her ears. I left some Virbac septicide cream in a jar and a tube of the Troy fly repel cream incase she runs out of the Septicide. She was starting to get a little flybite on her ears but thankfully no damage has been done yet. I coated them with the cream well. And now M knows how to do it and has the cream, she will be applying it to her ears every morning. So Ellie shouldn't have to worry about flies again. Those things hurt when they bite, imagine having them eating at your ears. And yes she is very much a sweetie.

I went and saw Ellie today. She was so excited when she saw me, Dog love her. I took her for a good walk and also took her a new clam pool and a longer run. I attached 2 swivel clips securely to each end, so she can't tangle herself. It gives her a little more room than what she has on the rope. M is going to keep her on the longer one during the day and transfer her back to the rope at night. I gave her an allwormer and some liver/pork treats. (no wonder she's excited when she see's me), seriously though, she isn't overly fussed with the treats. She prefers cuddles. She didn't go in the pool at first but not surprisingly after our walk, which was lovely - the weather was perfect, she was straight in it. She is so funny. She loves to dip her nose under the water. I kept saying to her "Go on, I am not watching, go for a swim", and everytime I said it she'd go and get in the pool. After she had a good dip, she'd roll on her back in the grass all playfully. I got her ball and she had a little game with that too. It was sad when I had to leave though. I said "Bye bye Ellie, see you soon", and her face just dropped. The big smile she had only seconds earlier, dissapeared. I said "Aww it's ok girl. I'll be back, I promise". Lots of Ellie pics to come. She truly is a beautiful girl.

I am pretty sure it got warmer than that. It felt like about 40 here today. I thought of her today aswell. I wasn't able to get out and see her on the weekend as I had my 2 human kids sick with the flu and conjunctivitis (sp?). Bails is just about better but poor Jack is still unwell, despite going to the Doctor and having penicilin the past few days. His eye's have cleared up but he is still very congested and panics when he coughs thinking he is going to vomit. I am going to go out and visit her tommorow and take her for a walk. (and if it's hot like today, give her a good hose down). I also have to get that fly cream on her. I missed seeing her on the weekend. She is probably wondering where I am too.
