  1. Thanks again everybody for your well wishes and healing vibes. Well she made it through another night. Her temp is normal this morning but she is panting a little so the vet is concerned the infection may of spread and she may have pneumonia. They are pumping the antibiotics into her and they were about to check her oxygen levels. I have to call back in half hour to see how they went.
  2. An update on Tess. I rang at about 4pm and the vet said she was the same but her temp was sub normal? she said she wasn't overly concerned with that and that we'd just have to wait and see whether her body can recover from this. I was so worried after she said that. Then I rang again just after 7pm and although her temp is the same, she ATE a tin of ?? (she did say the name of it, but I was too excited to hear that she'd eaten that it went in one ear and out the other  ) The vet said she didn't expect her to eat at all, but she did and ate it all. It's still a matter of wait and see and taking each day as it comes, but I am hopeful that if she can make it through tonight, that she will get to come home again.
  3. Glad to hear she has been to the toilet and that the coughing has eased off.
  4. I kept waiting for the phone to ring this morning with bad news... But Tess is doing fine this morning. She is very stable. I don't want to get too excited but she has made it through the op and made it through last night, and after seeing her the way she was yesterday, I am so much more hopeful. Her temp is good now, it was very low when she was admitted yesterday. I couldn't thank the vet enough. Fingers crossed it is all uphill from here. And thankyou again everybody for your well wishes and healing vibes.
  5. The vet just rang. Tess has made it through the surgery. It was indeed pyo and quiet a bad case of it. She came out of the anaesthetic ok and there were no complications and atm she is stable. Finger crossed now she makes it through the night ok.
  6. Ta Pers. I really hope so. I am waiting for them to call when they have finished. I am so so nervous. Here are a couple of recent pics of Tess, taken here at my house a couple of months ago. She is the sweetest girl. Oh and she also has greyhound in her. I can't remember whether her Dad was the greyhound or her Mum but she was bred to be a pigging dog and didn't cut it so was going to be taken out bush and shot when she was a pup. She spent the first year of her life hidden away from the world.
  7. Thanks guys. She is in surgery now. C'mon Tessa Wessa, hang in there girl.
  8. Mums dog 'Tess' is at the vet fighting for her life tonight with pyometra. Tess is a cattle/dingo blend and is about 10 years old. Mum sent a message last night saying she was a little quiet and drinking lots. This morning she was even more quiet. I dropped in to check on her and just knew it was pyo. I asked Mum when her last season was and she said about 8 weeks ago. So I rushed home called the vet and asked them if they would be able to do an emergency spey. Went back to Mums picked Tess up and dropped her off at the vet. She isn't good. It was so sad when I picked her up, she was standing there, lead and collar on as if she knew I was coming back for her. I am so cranky with Mum. I have been telling her for a long, long time to get her desexed and also at the fact that if I hadn't of taken her to the vet when I did, that she would of just left her there to die. And I am also cranky with myself as I know better and should of just taken her and had her done myself. I called the vet at about 6 o'clock to check on her and they said she was still the same. The vet said she was going to try and stay back to get her done tonight. Otherwise they were going to stabilise her overnight and do her first thing in the morning. Please send all the healing vibes you can as she desperately needs them. Thankyou.
  9. I am so sorry. May her remaining days be full of love and happiness. Hugs to you.
  10. Princess (foxy x) started barking, still making little huffing sounds now. Takoda (sibe pup) was very interested. She had her ears pricked and head tilting side to side the whole time it played. Buddy the kelpie just barked. Jasmine (border collie x kelpie) took off to the front door.
  11. I'd let your parents know what you are going to do and then take him and get him desexed. So what does your brother want to breed him for? do they plan on keeping a puppy and repeating the cycle again? or is it soley for the money. Do your parents interact with the dog at all? if not I would be 1) desexing and rehoming the poor little buggar myself or 2) contacting a rescue who may be able to help.
  12. How is she this morning K&C? A while ago, Rusty, one of my rescues had a really bad case of KC. He had to have antibiotics too but he wasn't coughing up white froffy stuff. The discharge he had coming from his nose was thick and green. I hope you can get her to your normal vet today.
  13. Yes that's what I have just read Pers. I just did a google search and although I cannot garentee the info accurate, the couple of sites I did look at, basically said it depends how much she ate and what kind. Some kitty litters expand and clump and go as hard as concrete and can be extremely dangerous as they can block the intestines. K&C has found a vet and that Misty is ok.
  14. Yes. Please get her to another vet ASAP. I would be very worried if one of mine were doing that and I'd have them straight to the vet. Poor girl, hope she is ok. ETA. I know nothing of the effects of kitty litter on dogs, maybe it's swelling up inside her or lodged somewhere???, hence the reason she cannot get comfy and is so restless??? I don't even know if it's toxic. I don't mean to scare you I am just really concerned for your girl.
  15. That's so sad. Poor dogs and their families.
  16. I am so sorry Huntia. I am sure you will meet up again with her One day on the other side of that Bridge. R.I.P. baby. xxx
  17. Oh she is Nic. ;) She is my baby girl and knows it. She follows me around everywhere, sleeps by my side and makes me smile, just like Gyps used to. :)
  18. Thanks DD. She does have gorgeous eye's. It's as though they can see straight through you. And @ the rescue remedy remark.
  19. Yes she does love a game, especially zoomies in the middle of the night. She ended up sleeping on the bed last night and boy, did she snuggle in. She is playing with her little squeaky toy elephant in the loungeroom at the moment. She is pouncing & tossing it around. She loves her toys. And no probs, re; little Princess. I had an enquiry for her last weekend and they came to meet her, but I got the impression they basically just wanted a playmate for their other doggy. Don't get me wrong, they were very nice people, but just not for Princess. She deserves to be no. 1. ;)
  20. He starts this Tuesday. He's been to 4 transition days so has a fairly good idea of what goes on there. I got all teary at all 4 transition days. They got us (the parents) to stay seated while the littlies were led away to the classroom. He is so excited and has been counting the days down for the past 2 weeks. School is so different to when I went. no more blackboards or whiteboards, he has this huge touch screen computer thingy instead. (can't think of the name of it). Oh and while I am here, Takoda is doing great. You wouldn't even know she's had an op. I have crated her the past 2 nights but I think she can sleep on the bed tonight. She was playing zoomies a little while ago in the loungeroom in the dark  and I thought 'Nope, crate for another night', but then she came and planted herself here under my feet, as if she knew what I was thinking. It is incredible just how fast they bounce back isn't it?
  21. That's what I was thinking. She's gorgeous. Good on you for giving her a chance.
  22. OMG, she is looking fantastic Teekay. I love the one's of her and your Son, just beautiful. You can see the love in their eye's. Thankyou so much for sharing. These were taken when she first came home from the pound. I had never seen a sibe so skinny.
