British Bulldog - Flea Allergy Dermatitis

Agree 100% with this. Advocate is fantastic stuff. Mums dog Tess had similiar on her rump and tail last year. Mum had been using supermarket stuff, despite me telling her it was no good. I applied some advocate and in a matter of weeks the hair was growing back. Before long you couldn't even tell where the raw patches had been. :) I buy mine online as it's alot cheaper than the shops. -
It was on tele not so long ago on a show called Martin Clunes "A man and his dogs". (you can get on DVD - well worth watching for anyone who hasn't seen it). I only saw a few episodes of it but what I saw was fascinating and I did see this video in it. Those little dogs are amazing and extremely efficient at what they do.

Fear Of Dogs In A Child....and How To Help?
k9angel replied to Bluefairy's topic in General Dog Discussion
My brothers kids are the same. They are of varying ages, the eldest 6. They have never had a bad experience with them, it's just that they have never grown up around them or had much to do with them. They scream when they see mine and have to be carried by their Mum or Dad. It's really sad. Many a time when I have visited the pound I have seen similiar. A family goes to meet a dog, they're all in the exercise yard waiting and as soon as the dog is bought in, the kids start to scream and cry and run off to the safety of their parents. I also see it alot when I am out walking my own dogs. Kids panicking and crying at the mere sight of us approaching. I tend to agree with Dannys darling with trying the gradual exposure first. If that fails then I'd seek professional help. Goodluck and please keep us posted. -
I agree 100% with this.

Agree, 7 is hardly ancient. Personally I couldn't even comprehend rehoming one of my dogs, I either wouldn't take the job or I'd take her with me. People do it all the time. Same and I agree it's worth looking into re; taking her with you. 7 is not too old for her to travel. She'd probably love it! :)

Tess is back home. I met my brother at the vet this afternoon and we all went in to see her. She was got very excited and cried with joy at seeing some familiar faces. :) They took her temp before she left and I asked whether they were sure she was ready to come home. The vet seemed to think so. :) She is still very quiet but she is toileting ok, eating & drinking ok and all her vitals are good. She is resting on a blanket in Mums bedroom. I have to go down twice a day to keep an eye on her and also give her her meds. I have to say also that the vet who did the surgery did an absolutely fantastic job.

A beautiful story.

I called the vet this morning for an update. They had taken away the heat pads and were about to remove her drip. Fingers crossed all is well when I call at 4pm because she will be allowed to come home tonight. :) As much as I would love to have Tess here, she will be going home and recovering at Mums.

Sorry I cannot offer any advice but keeping everything crossed that it's nothing serious.

My Neapolitan Mastiff Bit Me (a Serious Bite)
k9angel replied to cybergenesis's topic in General Dog Discussion
Please whatever you do, don't put them back together - supervised or not unsupervised. The neo will just end up killing the lab. I feel really sorry for the lab. I don't understand how some ppl can have a dog for years and then discard it for a newcomer. But as you say, the neo is your ideal dog. No offence but I think you both need to see a professional. The dog for his aggression and you for your temper by the sounds of things, otherwise this could be a recipe for disaster... And I too hope the lab finds the special home he deserves. -
Tessy should be able to come home tommorow. I am so happy, can't you tell. I just spoke with the vet, the usual one is back on. Phil said she has picked up heaps today and up until this morning, could only lay on her side. But she sat up on her chest and has even been for a little walk. I cannot tell you how happy I am. Phil said if she had not of been desexed that night she came in, she would of died for sure. I am soooo grateful to the vet who stayed back and did the operation. They are taking the drip out in the morning to see how she goes and if all is still good by afternoon she will be able to come home. I cannot wait to see her and will update with some pics once she is home. Many thanks again guys for sharing your stories, and sending healing vibes. They've worked a treat!

Ta Pers and Mags. :) Tess's oxygen levels are within normal range. I was hoping the same Pers, that the panting was due to the fact she was a little anxious and not anything more sinister. Seems it must be. Hopefully it's a sign that she is picking up. I will call back this afternoon for another update.
