  1. This made me cry. I know the feeling well. The longing to see them again... even if it is just one more time. You will see them again one day SW.
  2. Gorgeous pooches and gorgeous parrot. Those photo's are just gorgeous. I was watching a show last weekend I think it was, I only saw bits and peices of it but it was about different species getting along. They had an elephant and a sheep that were the bestest of friends. At first they weren't sure of eachother but as time went on they played, ate and slept together. It was adorable.
  3. I heard this on the radio this morning but at that stage they weren't sure whether any or all of the animals were killed. But then I saw footage of it on the news, and it was clear to see nothing could survive that blaze. So so sad. R.I.P. to the birds & animals lost.
  4. I was only thinking of little Jakey yesterday. :) Happy Birthday for your 1st Birthday boy. xxx He is looking all grown up and handsome in his pics Garnali. And his little mate Banjo, is just gorgeous too. @ the 15cm worm. That's terrible. Poor little buggar. He'll be feeling a little lost at the moment but won't take him long to settle in with you guys. :) I am sorry to hear you's have had a rough few months and hope Jakey continues to eat and to be well. Please pass on some gentle hugs to Jakey from me and tell him I will be popping something in the post in the next week or two. And ofcoarse a huge thankyou to you Garnali for what you've done for little Jakey. I doubt very much he'd be here today if it weren't for you.
  5. Awww great to hear. I look forward to some pics. :)
  6. Wow! absolutely gorgeous pics. Thanks for sharing.
  7. Shepherd x retriever is my guess. :) He looks so so sweet. Good on you for adopting him!
  8. Aww that's beautiful. Bought a little something to my eye's too.
  9. Great to hear Ruger is still doing well. I am crossing everything for your boy too DR.
  10. I agree, that's very odd Staffyluv. I wonder if it is somehow connected with that other incident where someone came in and fed your dogs. Was Ziggy left alone when you left to do the yard check? and does he seem ok now?
  11. Just like a picture can tell a 1000 words, I believe dogs eyes do the same. Sir Walter's certainly tell a story in the pics you've posted. It's not hard to see he's had a hard life. Thank on you for taking him in and showing him what's it like to be loved. I am sure he'll fourish & thrive in no time.
  12. She's gorgeous Melstar. :) I agree with other posters, give her a little more time to mature before rushing her into surgery. I bought a chi home from the pound a couple of years ago (as a rescue) and was told by my local vet that she had a LP and required a $2,000 surgery. Oh and he did the same, just had a quick feel around and that was his diagnosis... I mentioned it here on DOL and was pretty much told the same as you are being told now. :) To wait and to let her mature a little more. Abs was 12mths old at the time, same as your girl. I waited and sure as houses she was fine. I still get updates from her adopted Mum in WA and she is doing great to this very day. :)
  13. How scary for you all. The best thing to do is to remain calm, quiet and still, just like your partner did. Don't run or scream and don't make eye contact with them. Also try not to face them, but instead stand side on to them, keeping your arms folded tightly against your body to protect your hands and fingers. If worse comes to worse and you are knocked to the ground, curl up into a tight ball faced down to the ground, using your arms to cover your head, ears and neck.
  14. Send her here if you like. :D We seem to have a plaque atm. They run straight past my dogs and they just watch them. Occassionally when they hear a squeak they'll prick their ears and look interested, but that's about it. I went to empty the vacuum cleaner the other day and guess what jumped out right infront of me? Mind you, Princess our rescue fox terrier x was right there and just watched it run past. I couldn't believe it. "Some little hunter you are!" I told her. The huskies have caught a few rats outside over the years. Thankfully they don't eat them though.
  15. I am so sorry Baifra. My thoughts are with you. R.I.P. gorgeous Jessie xxx Run young & free with your doggy friends again.
  16. Gorgeous pics Impatiens and Gapvic. I cannot wait to get a macro lens.
  17. I think we can all understand those thoughts... lol! Photography is addictive, isn't it? T. Yes. :)
  18. Thanks guys. :) And thanks for the link CC. Your pics are just gorgeous, I could look at them all day. Oh and I am with the canon camp. :)
  19. Thankyou Kirislin. :) I am not sure what sort of tree it is - whatever it is, the bee's just love it. I will get a pic of it tommorow, someone here might know what it is. :)
  20. And just for a bit of fun I cropped the bee pic to get a closer view. :) ETA changed pic. The first one was a big too close :)
  21. We have this huge tree next door that hangs over our fence. The bee's like to get on it and the buzzing sound is almost deafening at times, like today. The majority are the bigger one's but there were a few smaller native one's I spotted. It was fascinating to watch them working away. They can get quiet aggressive too. I noted a few disputes over prime pollen spots. And I swear at one stage they were deliberately swooping towards my face but just before they'd make contact, they'd fly to the side or above my head. It was a bit of a challenge taking the pics as there was a breeze blowing and the lens would go in and out of focus so I had to be quick. I am thinking I need to get a good macro lens as I like to get close ups of bugs and flowers and things, but not sure where to start or what to get? any suggestions guys? :) Oh and I even managed to get one bee to pose for the camera. As you can probably tell, I am having lots of fun taking pics & getting to know my camera. :) And my fav pic... the poser. I swear he stopped to look at the camera. ETA spelling
  22. Thanks guys. :) I was quiet happy with how it turned out. And yeah Pers, I thought he may of been a she, especially with a belly like that. Oh and speaking of falling, when we were at the Japanese gardens last weekend, I was trying to take a pic of the boys on the little red bridge that runs across the waterfall. Anyways, here I was standing on a rock (a wet slippery one at that) half way up this waterfall trying to get a decent pic of them when I almost slipped, not once but twice. Seriously if I had of slipped, I would of fell a good 15+ metres down the rocky waterfall. Funnily enough, I am shite scared of heights but all I was worried about was my getting a good pic and keeping my camera dry, I wasn't worried about me...
