  1. Poor little dog. Sounds like he definately needs to be in a new home. In regards to desexing, send her links to the urgent pound threads here on DOL, including the kill lists. Show her how many of these cute little pups (from undesexed dogs) end up on death row. If that doesn't open her eye's, nothing probably will. I would keep at her in regards to getting the dog desexed before rehoming. There's no way I would re home any dog undesexed, esp a little cav x who could possibly end up in the wrong hands and end up lining some lowlife's pockets. She obviously doesn't know about much these x bred designer dogs. Chances are, that little dog will end up in the wrong hands if he's not desexed. Maybe show her links to puppy farms too and the horrid conditions they're kept in. And tell her straight, if she cares anything for this little dog, then get him desexed!!! Apart from that I don't know what else you can do besides taking the dog on yourself, getting him vetted and then rehoming him.
  2. Two six-week-old puppies have died after being sealed in a garbage bag and dumped in a skip at Bolivar in Adelaide's north. A third puppy that was in the bag was lucky to be alive after being found this morning. The Labrador X puppies were found by a passerby at a service station on Port Wakefield Road around 7.30 this morning. The RSPCA are investigating how the puppies came to be there and SA's Chief Inspector Simon Richards says it’s a despicable act. “I am shocked and disgusted that someone could do this,” he said. “It is just so unnecessary. There are always options. “If people don’t want to care for their animals, or are no longer able to, they can bring them to a shelter for a second chance. “We’re appealing for anyone with information about the dumping of these puppies to contact the RSPCA.” If caught and convicted, the culprit faces up to two years behind bars or a $20,000 fine. What a horrible death that must of been. I hope the lucky little one that made it goes on to live a long, happy life full of love. As for the sad excuse of a human being who did this. :mad
  3. Beach goers and boaters along the coast of Central California are accustomed to seeing fascinating sea creatures large and small off its shore—but an Arabian horse? Some at first thought the gleaming white animal bobbing up and down on the waves near Santa Barbara was a seagull, but were surprised to learn it was a equine model known as William, reports the Santa Barbara News-Press. The 6-year-old Arabian, whose full name is Heir of Temptation, was part of a photo clinic on the beach until it got spooked by ocean waves crashing on shore, and bolted, says owner Mindy Peters. The beautiful white stallion is valued at $150,000. But instead of running away from the waves, William charged them and swam 3 kilometres out to sea. Rescue crews managed to corral the horse a mile offshore around sunset. William was taken to an equine medical centre. The horse was exhausted and had some water in its lungs but is doing fine. The animal managed to stay afloat despite having its long tail wrapped around one of its legs for almost three hours. Veterinarian Dr. Lisa Teske credits his breeding. "Being an Arabian, I think, has a lot to do with his endurance level. He's pretty fit." http://au.news.yahoo.com/world/a/-/world/13719758/spooked-horse-swims-3km-out-to-sea/
  4. OMG what can I say? Happy tears too here and lots of them. They are looking 100% to what they were. They must be feeling so much better and so much happier. :) I agree Kadbury, thankyou does not seem to be enough for what has been done for these boys, but I am going to say it again anyways :thanks: Now for a little happy dance to celebrate their progress.
  5. Ok where do I start? Mum called me up this morning as I was getting Jack ready for school and told me a woman she knows was at her house with a Jack russell that needed an urgent home. I told Mum I couldn't take him. I am seriously full atm and also have Jasmine (Alaska's Mum) coming back on Tuesday for a 6 week holiday. (which we are all looking forward to and which I have committed to months ago). I told Mum to send her up so I could get some pics of him at least. Within minutes "Jill" was at my doorstep with this little guy on a lead. In the other hand she had a folder with all his paperwork. (chip details, vacc cert etc) I said to her "I cannot take him myself, I have 10 here atm with another coming back". She was just ready to hand him over like that. She was quiet pee'd off with me when I said I was unable to take him. He's no Jack russell but I do see a fair bit of staffy in him. I don't think the owner has a clue to be honest. She comes across as being really cold and heartless. She says to me "Well I can't take him back", shaking her head at me. She's moved into a unit or something and she cannot keep him. (don't ask me why she left it to the last minute to find him a home?) His name is Diesel and he's 12mths old. I asked if he was ok with other dogs and she said she didn't know, he's never been around any. He seemed ok with Alaska thru the fence here, but I was getting Jack ready for school and didn't have time to test him properly. He did seem very friendly and sweet though. When I said I couldn't take him she was pee'd off with not only me, but Diesel too. I could see it in her eye's. She was fuming. When I spoke to Mum afterwards, Mum said she wouldn't be surprised if she ended up dumping him. (she wouldn't pay for a surrender fee to the pound) I feel so bad for him and hated having to turn him away like that but I do not have the room or time to take him on myself. I do not take in many private surrenders but just a couple of weeks ago I took in a young sibe from another woman Mum knows, as he was in a bad situation too. Some ppl. It never ends. I know it's a long shot but if anyone has room to squeeze this boy in or would like more info please PM me. He's located Western Syd as far as I know. Thanks in advance. Rach
  6. What a load of crap! If that pup is 8 weeks old, than I am a monkeys uncle. The poor little buggar would be lucky to be 4 weeks old judging by the pic. I imagine the story would be splashed all over the news in the US, so it's a wonder no one has stepped forward to claim him? Maybe he was dumped? but still, she should be going to every effort to find his owner instead of just accepting him as a gift from Jesus. *roll eyes* Poor pup. Makes you wonder what sort of home he's landed in.

  9. Poor little buggar. I hope someone stopped and took him to a vet.
  10. Thinking of you Lisey. I am so sorry your beautiful Lola didn't make it. You did your very best for her. Sometimes no matter how hard we try, they are still called away. I have a candle burning tonight in memory of your beautiful girl. Please take care. R.I.P. Lola. xxx
  11. Whatever you do get him signed over to you ASAP. The last thing you want is for them to change their mind and want him back. They certainly don't deserve him. As for the athritis, I'd be putting him on a glucosamine/chondroitin supplement. You don't have to spend a fortune on vet formulated supplements. You can use the human version and it works just as well. Just double check with your vet on dosage. :) All the best with him, I think it's great you've opened up your heart and home to him. He sounds like a very sweet boy.
  12. I get mine from The Wolf's den. :) http://www.thewolfsden.com.au/

It's going to be a cold cold winter I think. Looking forward to more pics in a few days, they probably won't even be recogniseable by then!
