  1. Beautiful story. There's nothing like watching kids and dogs interact.
  2. Mine get carrots all the time (at least every 2nd or 3rd day, sometimes more) and love them, so do the kids.
  3. Keeping everything crossed the blood tests come back clear.
  4. Great to hear all went well at the vets and that she's eating well.
  5. I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful boy, Trifecta. R.I.P. Rogan. xxx
  6. I agree re; vet check. She'll fade really fast if she is dehydrated. Also keep an eye out for hypoglycemia. Years ago when we got our first chihuahua, I came home one day to find him lifeless in his basket. We rushed him to the vet and he was diagnosed with hypoglycemia, his sugar levels had fallen so low, he had gone into a coma. Thankfully we got him to the vet in time to be treated. The smaller breeds are more prone to it and more so, when they're pups. Does she appear happy and lively? or weak and lethargic? and how much is she actually eating when she does eat? a tablespoon full? more or less? Poor baby, she should of stayed with her Mum for a couple more weeks at least. I'd also gradually wean her off that diet. I'd be ditching the weetbix and replacing it with a little raw mince and replacing the woolworths brand kibble with Supercoat puppy (at the very least) or some other premium kibble.
  7. So sorry for your loss, he was gorgeous. R.I.P. Hannibul. xxx
  8. Dozens of animals remain on the loose after a break-in at a northern Tasmanian zoo. Police believe several people broke into Tasmania Zoo in the Launceston suburb of Riverside late Thursday or early Friday morning and cut the locks on several bird, wallaby and monkey enclosures. Zoo owner Dick Warren says he found nine birds brutally slaughtered. "They've just caught them and banged their heads and pulled their heads off," he said. "It's heartbreaking to see them. How could people do this sort of thing? It hits you so hard." About 60 birds and animals are still missing, including two rare swift parrots, a yellow-tailed black cockatoo and five quolls. Animal keeper Courtney McMahon said the break-in has had a devastating impact on the zoo's breeding program. "We're trying to increase numbers of threatened species and we've lost a good part of that program," she said. However, Ms McMahon said it was a huge relief the zoo's population of disease-free Tasmanian devils were not harmed. "The way that the birds were released, if these devils were released like that it would be a death sentence to them," she said. "There's a good chance that they would, in the wild, contract the facial tumour disease." Two chainsaws were also stolen and police are appealing for witnesses. http://au.news.yahoo.com/latest/a/-/latest/14458833/animals-slaughtered-during-zoo-break-in/ Poor birds and animals. Hope they find the missing one's and hope they find the sicko's responsible.

  15. PM'd you Esky, re; the chicken broth. Did she have the whole tin of food tonight? if so, I wouldn't be worrying about anymore food until the morning, I'd be concentrating on keeping her fluids up. Nutrigel is really good too. You may already be familiar with it, but just incase you're not here's some info on it. A palatable high calorie dietary supplement for use in dogs and cats lacking adequate nutrition over a prolonged period of time. Composition: Contains Vitamins A, D, E, B1, B2, B6, B12, Nicotinamide, Calcium Pantothenate, Folic Acid, Iron, Manganese, Magnesium and Iodine in a palatable base consisting of fats, proteins and carbohydrates, providing approximately 1500 kilojoules of metabolizable energy per 100g. A highly palatable source of calories and vitamins. Recommended for inclusion in the diets of dogs and cats where levels may be low. Nutrigel can be used to overcome the animal's reluctance to the intake of tablets by fully covering the tablet with Nutrigel. Dosage and Administration: Nurtigel is highly palatable and is usually accepted eagerly. To acquaint your pet with the flavour, place a small amount in the mouth. When used during convalescence and to stimulate appetite, give 10g (approx. 2 x 10cm strips) daily per 5kg bodyweight. When used as the main source of nutrition, give 15g (approx. 3 x 10cm strips) daily per 5kg bodyweight, or as required.
  16. When Whitey was feeling off and wouldn't eat, I used to give him a little ice cream or boil up some chicken broth. Sometimes he'd just lap up the juices. Other things you could try; Sardines Tuna Salmon - maybe tempt her with a sml tin of each to see if she likes any? Tinned cat food Roast chicken - off the bone Yoghurt Heinz Baby food (just warm it up a little, try beef and also the chicken flavour)
