  12. After nearly a year of being in care, little (well not so little anymore lol) Teddy finally found his forever home just before Christmas. Teddy was one of the 5 pups I bought home from Renbury back in February. http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/246351-introducing-tori-teddy-tango-toby-and-tiger/page__p__6115180__hl__%2Bteddy+%2Btango__fromsearch__1#entry6115180 He was adopted by a lovely young lady and her family and is loved dearly. He goes for 2 walks a day, regular outings to the beach (and other fun places), is allowed inside as he pleases and sleeps inside at night on Mel's bed. He shares his new home with a 14yr old cat, at first Teddy was scared of the cat (Danny's Darling can vouch for that. lol), but they can be in the same room next to each other now without Teddy being scared of him. :) We were sad to see him leave (I cried like a baby when he left) but knew it was for the best, for Ted. He may of waited nearly a year for his forever home to come along but I am sure Teddy would agree, it was well worth the wait. :) A few pics taken not long before he left.
  13. Bumping again. He only has a few hours left to find a home or a place in rescue.
  14. This is what I use, Virbac septicide ointment. It's very effective and after trying a few over the years, this is the one I would recommend too.
  15. I posted this in the urgent section but thought I'd post it here too. There is a 5yr old shep x boy at Wollondilly pound who only has until close of business today to find a home or a place in rescue. He has spent the last month of his life at the pound and isn't coping too well atm. He is people friendly, dog friendly, chipped, registered and desexed already. I thought he had been given his wings yesterday as he has been taken off their website but when I asked Jasmine, she said he was still available but for today only. Can anyone please squeeze him in?? http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/254143-wollondilly-pound-picton/page__gopid__6373560#entry6373560
  16. An elephant calf has died after getting his head caught while playing with his favourite toy tyre at Melbourne Zoo. Melbourne Zoo director Kevin Tanner says CCTV footage shows 11-month-old Sanook's death was the result of a tragic accident. Sanook was playing with a large suspended tyre in his barn on Tuesday evening when he managed to manoeuvre it in an unusual way that caused his head to become caught, Mr Tanner said. "This placed pressure on his neck and would have prevented him from breathing," he said on Wednesday. Preliminary post-mortem results confirm that as the cause of death. The zoo says the tyre was one of Sanook's favourite toys, as it was for his sister Mali and brother Ongard. "This is a tragic accident that has left our keepers, vets and staff community devastated," Mr Tanner said. "To our knowledge no such accident has taken place previously in any zoo with elephants." Tyres are commonly used around the world in zoos as an approved form of enrichment for elephants, a zoo statement said. Sanook was seen playing energetically and suckling from his mother Num-Oi on Tuesday and was found dead on Wednesday morning. Sanook, who would have turned one in January, was the youngest of three calves born at the zoo. http://au.news.yahoo.com/vic/a/20144027/elephant-calf-sanook-dies-at-melbourne-zoo/ Poor baby. R.I.P. Sanook. xx

  19. Our gorgeous Zuess lost his battle with ZRD the night before last. I still cannot believe he is gone and miss him so much. Zue had been battling ZRD since 2011 when we lost Jay Jay. Although he had a few secondary infections along the way, he always responded well to meds and always bounced back. Sadly, not this time... Zuess was a much loved member of our family for the past 9 years. He was so gentle and placid and loved everyone. He was only a couple of years old when Jack was born and he loved the kids. Even when they were little babies, he was always so gentle and careful around them. As the kids grew bigger and older, they'd spend hours playing and exploring together in the backyard or inside. They shared a very special friendship and I am glad my boys got to spend a big part of their childhood with a dog as wonderful and special as Zuess. Like me, I know they will remember him forever. Just the other day I was watching him play with a squeaky bone toy. Well he wasn't actually playing with it. He had it stashed in his bed, under his blanket and everytime he went to get in his bed, he would tread on it and it would squeak loudly. lol. He stood there ears pricked, head tilting side to side trying to figure out where it was coming from. He made me laugh and always had a way of making me smile. That was just Zuess. Until we meet again boy, and I know we will, run free with Gypsy, Claude, Jay Jay, Cassie, Blacky and Whitey. xxx xx xx It feels like only yesterday when I took this pic of Jack, Jay Jay and Zuess. It was 4 years ago. I miss his smile. Even with the ZRD lesions on his ears and nose, he was still beautiful. Taken a month ago as we celebrated his 9th Birthday. I wrote this poem shortly after I found out he wasn't coming home. Zuess my beautiful Angel Now shining in the stars, You may of left this world my friend But in my heart you are never far. I thought you'd be coming home boy You were always such a fighter, But the battle is over, we lost the fight Now the stars are shining brighter. I bet the other's were waiting for you With Jay Jay first in line, You and Jay were the best of friends Now together until the end of time. Run fast and free again my boy Until we meet again, I know you'll all be waiting for me At the Rainbow's end. xxx
  20. My thoughts are with you are your family Kirty, and ofcoarse little Pye. Thankyou for loving her and giving her a chance at a normal life. At least she didn't leave this world feeling like she didn't matter. As for the scumbag(s) who bought her into the world and then dumped her and left her for dead like that, shame (and a lifetime of bad karma) on them. I hope they rot in hell. Shine bright in the stars little Angel. xx
