  1. Aww Happy Birthday Cougar. She's gorgeous Mantis. Congrats.
  2. Great news, you must be over the moon! As others have mentioned, some things are meant to be... She's gorgeous btw. :)
  3. That is a beautiful tribute Clydesdalelover. I am so sorry for your loss. Hugs and condolences to you. R.I.P. Molly xxx
  4. She's gorgeous. Beautiful pics too. :)
  5. I couldn't agree more I run one male separately to my other two boys and I've been doing it for six years, it's no big deal, you get used to it. People seem to forget that we are dealing with DOGS here and not all dogs get along, when you are running a pack these things happen. As lilli says, it's NORMAL! Great post Lilli. I agree 100%. Some dogs simply don't get along, simple as that. I run some of mine seperately and have been doing so for several years without drama. It all started when one of my younger girls began to mature and tried to take the spot of another one of my girls, a submissive older female who was already placed pretty low in the pack. (The younger one obviously sensed this). The older one wasn't going to let this new comer take her place though, so stood her ground firmly as did the younger one. Although they never caused serious injury (it was mostly noise), it got to the point they couldn't make eye contact without starting a fight and it was only a matter of time before one was seriously hurt or worse... Both were absolutely fine with the other members of the pack though and knew their place, they just disliked eachother and couldn't live together.
  6. Looks like you have your own paradise happening there Gapvic. :) Beautiful gardens.
  7. Try not to worry about it too much. They usually bounce back in no time after surgery, especially the younger one's. He's gorgeous btw. :)
  8. Aww what a cute pic. Mine are the same, real sticky beaks, especially Takoda. It's embarrassing taking her for a walk sometimes. If she see's someone washing their car, unloading their shopping or weeding their garden (or doing anything else for that matter) she has to stop and have a good gawk. Oh and Luki's a shocker too. He likes to spy on the lady next door. Whenever she is in her backyard, he stands up on the kids slippery dip peering over the fence. I have a pic somewhere, I must dig it out or take another.
  9. That's heartbreaking... poor bub. I hope you were able to pick him (or her) up.
  10. LIMP and almost lifeless, greyhound Mandy was carried from a factory blaze yesterday. A firefighter took her from the burning building before paramedics then worked on the dog for almost an hour, supplying her with oxygen and providing fluids. Mandy was found under a dressing table close to where the fire had taken hold in the two-storey Fantasy Futon factory on Shepherd St, Marrickville in Sydney's inner west shortly after 11am. A number of people were evacuated, including a 46-year-old man believed to be the factory owner who was taken to Concord Hospital in a serious condition with burns to his head and left arm. Fire and Rescue Superintendent Tom Cooper said Mandy was found during a second search of the building. "Firefighters and ambulance officers administered oxygen and it looks like she might be OK," Supt Cooper said. Sandy Macken was among four paramedics who worked for 45 minutes to save four-year-old Mandy. "She was unconscious, breathing really fast, pounding heart and quite stiff in her body and she had a vacant stare," Ms Macken said. "It is the first time I've rescued a dog but we discussed the treatment and what would be appropriate for the dog and its size. "We treated her the same as you would a human for smoke inhalation and dehydration." She said they assisted Mandy with her breathing and provided her with oxygen and fluids. "It was lovely to see the dog improve, especially when the owner turned up. As it improved the dog was licking my hand and holding its head up. It was lovely," she said. "Fingers crossed that Mandy is OK in the coming days." Mandy was taken to the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Camperdown for further treatment. Vet Dr Jaeyoon Park said Mandy was taken straight to ICU where she was administered oxygen, and underwent tests. "She was quite stable but weak. We could smell smoke from her body," Dr Park said. He said she would be intensively monitored overnight and her condition reassessed this morning but she would likely remain in their care until the end of the week. "At this stage I think she's doing better than worse. I still have hope for her but it's too early to say," he said. The blaze was not believed to be suspicious. This made me all teary, especially looking at those photo's. A huge thumbsup to the firemen and paramedics for rescuing Mandy. I saw her on the news tonight and the vet says she should be able to go home tommorow. :) :) :)
  11. So Sorry MTD. R.I.P. Miss Molly. xxx
  12. So that's what the puppy dog eyes, wagging tail and smile was about.
  13. A little update on my girl Takoda as it's been a while since I updated last. :) Takoda is 1 year and 1 month old now. She turned 1 on the 11th of August and was spoiled rotten. Some of you may of already seen her Birthday thread. :) The link for those who haven't. http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/240470-happy-1st-birthday-takoda-xxx/page__p__5926307__hl__takoda__fromsearch__1#entry5926307 Takoda has grown into a gorgeous girl. She is beautiful not only on the outside, but most importantly, on the inside too. She loves everyone she meets and is certainly living up to her name's meaning; 'friend to everyone'. We went to PetFest yesterday and she made me so proud. She was so well behaved and such a lady. She got to meet lots of other dogs and got lots of pats from different kids which she loved and lapped up. :) She came face to face with this tiny black chi and was so gentle with her. It was so sweet to see. She also got to meet some baby farm animals through the fence at the petting farm and she wasn't the least bit bothered, same for the horses that were walking very closely past her. :) She just adores my 2 boys and has formed very strong bonds with them. She checks on them every night before bed to make sure they're ok before retiring next to me. She spends hours playing with them and is often included in their games. She loves toys too, especially her squawking flamingo  the noisier they are, the more she loves them and she doesn't chew them up which is a bonus! She'll do anything to be the centre of attention and to get get a laugh. Oh and she even loves to watch tele. She often watches a movie or tele with me and/or the kids, ears pricked and eyes glued to the screen. She's a real sticky beak too and likes to know everyone's business. I could go on and on about her... there is so much to tell. :) We are truly blessed to have her in our lives. She makes us laugh and makes us smile and makes our lives complete. I couldn't imagine life without her. And some of the many friends she made yesterday at PetFest. :) Meeting T's newest addition 'Noni'. Meeting Katdogs 'Stevie'.
  14. We got to meet the lovely Noni today at PetFest and she is gorgeous and very sweet. She was a good girl meeting my sibe girl, Takoda too. They took to eachother really well and just wanted to play! ETA a couple pics of Noni and Takoda playing.
  15. Lovely update. Great to hear Emma is doing so well. Please pass on some gentle hugs from me.
  16. Me too. So the dogs are just left to roam free, not even seperated? so what happens at dinner time when they're all eating their 'bones'? that's just asking for trouble! It takes alot more than a bit of fenced land, towels and bones to look after dogs. So sorry for your loss Dingbat.
  17. A Fitzroy Crossing man who killed and ate a puppy in front of horrified onlookers, including a five-year-old child, has been fined more than $2500. Daniel Thomas Adriaens appeared in Fitzroy Crossing Magistrate's Court yesterday before West Kimberley Magistrate Colin Roberts, who had previously described the incident as "abhorrent and shocking", and the worst case of animal cruelty he had seen. Adriaens, a chronic solvent sniffer living in a humpy near the Fitzroy River, pleaded guilty in September last year to ill-treating the animal but claimed he had killed it humanely. The court was told that about 6pm on April 23, 2011, a passerby had heard a puppy yelping near the river and found Adriaens cutting its throat with a knife. By the time police attended, he had gutted and roasted it and cut off its ears, storing one in his backpack. He told police he had done it because he was "starving hungry". Magistrate Roberts fined Adriaens $2500 plus costs for the charge of animal cruelty, and $500 plus costs for a charge regarding a burning permit. http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/wa/14843231/2500-fine-for-man-who-ate-puppy/ What a joke... a measly $2,500 fine. So he's out free walking the streets again??? what a joke. What is he (or who is) going to kill and eat next time he's starving?
