  1. I agree. Lovely pics and a credit to you and your doggies Kirislin. I'd also be struggling to get a pic of all mine together without the chook walking past... The other day we had one of those giant white ibis birds sitting on next doors roof. I couldn't figure out why Cody was sitting like a well behaved girl at the fence, tail wagging 100 mile an hour. (like she does when she's waiting for a food treat) At first I thought maybe it was the neighbour saying hello to her through their window but then I thought she's never usually that happy to see the neighbour. So I went out and had a proper look and saw the reason she was so happy. She watched it and it watched her and I watched them both. As soon as I came back inside (just to grab the camera), the ibis flew down and landed in the backyard. I thought "Oh no, it's not going to get away from her in time", so went racing out the backdoor making a racket to scare the bird away. As I did so, it alerted Cody to the fact it was there, IN the yard! (she had only just let it out of her sight for a second when she went down behind the shed to see if she could get a better view of it). The racket I made worked though and it took off in time, but only just, she was right on it's tail.
  2. Keeping you and your boy in my thoughts Anne and wishing you both all the best.
  3. Aww he's gorgeous Rozzie and obviously very loved. He looks so happy. :)

  7. Happy update! This girl will be safe with rescue. A huge thankyou to SA dog rescue for helping this beautiful girl. I have posted in the Renbury thread but thought I'd post here too incase you are reading. Please PM me your banking details and an address so I can make my donation and bake/post some bikkies to this lovely girl. :) A huge thankyou aswell to the other rescues who assisted needy dogs this week.
  8. Wise words indeed. Thinking of you gwp4me, shepherds, Bindo and all who are going through this. x 2.
  9. Thankyou Panto. And yes, I would post in the Renbury thread too. I also saw the gsd x huskies. I hope they find safety too. I hope they all do. It's so heartbreaking.
  10. Huntrox. I just added another $20 and made mention of my offer to bake her some bisuits in the Renbury thread. I hope someone can take us up on our offers.
  11. Firstly, I hope it's ok to use these photo's and the pound volunteers notes. (if not, please tell me and I will remove). I just wanted to give a special mention for this girl who is at Renbury farm atm and due now (on Mondays pts list ). Her impound no. is 176 and she is 10 years young. Although I do not know her name and have never met her in person, there is just something about her. She has the most soulful eye's that look so sad and desperate. She looks (and sounds to be) a very sweet girl and I hope with all my heart, she finds safety. Her volunteer notes read; VOLUNTEER NOTES | She's broken me. Watching her sit, patiently in her kennel, week in week out waiting for her owners to come get her. This is just not fair. I don't know why they haven't come, and admit my heart constricted when I read a microchipped dog was dumped at the RSPCA... we all know what that usually means. Getting to know her makes this doubly hard. She is polite, very very sweet, no issues with others and once she's comfy with you reveals what a smiler she actually is. She is obedient, and is great on lead (although likes to walk in front). Condition wise she is fantastic... for her age or younger. She does have some loose skin over/above one of her nipples at the front, but it's just skin no mass on the inside. Not quite sure what that's about as I've never seen it before. She has no walking issues that I could see... in fact as she pees she does the cutest little wiggle walk. Shake that backside Shakira! There is plenty of life in this old girl yet... all she is searching for is for someone to let her walk life by their side. You, right? (AK 27/12) I know it's a long shot with eveyone being so full this time of year, but *if* anyone is able to help her, please contact Renbury farm asap. (Please let me know too if possible, as I would like to bake and send her some home baked dog cookies). Thankyou.
  12. Congrats Jules!!!!!!! I am so so happy for you. (can't you tell? :) ) I cannot wait for pics. :)
  13. So sorry for your loss KB. My thoughts are with you and your family at this very sad time. R.I.P. Sunny girl xxx
  14. You said you've tried advantix and frontline, but have you tried advocate? I had 2 little kelpie girls come into care a couple of years ago who had similiar patches of missing fur. The vet took a skin scraping but couldn't see any mites. He told me to treat them with advocate. I did and within weeks their fur started to grow back. It didn't take long for the patches to dissapear altogether. Aswell as the advocate I'd also be bathing him in malaseb shampoo or at the very least, pantene head and shoulders anti dandruff shampoo.
  15. I am so sorry MtS. Run free Buddy. xxx
  16. Congrats Katdogs! I am so happy for you. He is absolutely gorgeous.
  17. That is such crap. I work very closely with a few rescues, foster dogs and provide training assistance to foster homes as the absolute vast majority of dogs have no *behavioiral* issues at all - they simply require obedience training so they can walk well on a lead and obey commands and they're brilliant dogs. Most dogs are in pounds because the owner got the wrong type of dog for their lifestyle and/or didn't bother putting the work in. A total couch potato household with a border collie is my likely to end well if the family don't change their lifestyle. And then the dog ends up in the pound. Same dog in an active household - no problems. I'm not saying this to guilt trip the OP. the breeder she is talking to sounds great and I fully support people purchasing from registered breeders. But your comments are so ridiculous and damaging, they have to be addressed. I couldn't agree more Melzawelza. (And no, I am not saying this to guilt trip the OP either. I have both, ex-poundies and a pedigree from a registered breeder.) I am only a small time rescuer but out of the 100+ dogs I have rescued in the past 4 years, most have been happy, healthy, well adjusted animals with no behavioural or personality issues. There have been a few who needed some basic training, like toilet training or how to walk on a lead (only because their owners couldn't be bothered putting the time and effort into even the most basic of training ), but I'd hardly call training, an issue. Most of the dogs who do end up at the pound, end up there through no fault of their own. To call them 'someone elses problem' or a 'failure' is unfair and heartless IMO and so far from the truth. If only they could speak for themselves... There are many reasons why dogs end up at the pound and most of those reasons reflect on the owners, not the dogs.
  18. Poor little guy. I'd be taking him back to the vet asap, he probably needs to go on a drip to get some fluids into him. Wishing you's all the best and hope the bloods provide some answers.
  19. Wishing you and yours a Very Merry Christmas too Maree. It'd be the same for me if I ever wanted to go away, it'd cost way more to board all my dogs than it would the holiday! We're staying home for Xmas. I not only have my own 11 dogs (includ. rescues) to look after this Xmas, but I am dogsitting the neighbours 3 dogs for a week too! I feel sorry for them being home alone at Xmas so bought them some toys for Xmas day and baked them some dog biscuits. I'll also take Jack over to have a play with them. That'll really make their day, and his too, no doubt. :)
  20. I am so sorry White shepherd mom. R.I.P. Bella. xxx Run free with the angels now.
