Ooops see I have newbie written all over me I didnt remember the prefix just the van...it was cute! I watched some pugs the show I went to last. They had loads of character ;) I liked that they looked like they were having fun. Its funny, the breeds seem to taken on their own personalities. Do you get up this way poocow? Going to hide now lol AS, you should have checked out the other side of the trailer ... it has HAVANESE all over it! ???HASHKI????? ;) There are a few pug trailers with pug head stickers as well as kabovas that hit the newcastle rings, I can think of at least two that would have been at the show you were at AS so dont feel too silly ;) ;) sammy thankyou. I didnt see the Havs on it - there arent many breeders of those and only one hav/pug breeder I can think of ;) Bec -

No. It's usually too much excess fat around the meat that causes the problem. I always trim the fat off. Yeah I trimmed the visible fat too He's 4.5 months and the only issue I had was when he was finished. He wanted more and was tired from his workout

I'm sure we'll all have a ball. Toby's been bathed today. Hes getting used to sitting with conditioner in now. Not so pathetic lol we clipped nails in the bath while waiting the 10 mins. Work a treat for distraction as he just stands there while I clip anyway, and its much easier with a coated breed to do em wet He looks okay - well for a newbie lol. I did attempt to put his headfall up in a pony tail....NOT IMPRESSED didnt even cover it Bindii fletcher is looking awesome and he stands so beautifully!! We did some stack training but he's a bugger and I'm not much better. I look in the breeders threads and see em stack the young abbaies and think I havent got a hope. And he is very mouthy. We try to distract him away so lets hope he doesnt try it on the judge he is almost 4.5 months. have you got somone going with you next week? breeder? jessm - i have my work cut out i have to keep him white and in coat. If we get another show dog I am sooooooo not getting a white one ever again Though I must say I hang out for bath day and love grooming him so it prob will be another coated one. hubby wants a british bulldog though -
Hey guys, just a question for those who go to or have gone to Hillsborough (newcastle) dog obedience on Sundays. I emailed the contact person who sent me a flyer. They have two beginners courses. One called beginners with multiple trainers and bigger class sizes and one called motivational smaller class and consistent trainer (I am leaning towards this one). Anyone done either and have any feedback? My boy is just over 4 months old and was hoping to start him in 2 weeks. And do they have to go every sunday? We are just about to start showing him next weekend and there are shows around on sundays but I can choose not to show him on sundays if their lessons have to be consecutive weeks. Thanks Bec

Toby loves to meet new people  He loves people full stop. I have a thing for Pugs so hopefully I will get to meet one of your "kids" too :D Can I ask how they are to show? Is there any grooming? It always interests me to see the differences in the breeds. There are some that simply take your breath away. I could actually sit and just watch the showing all day :D Afgans are so regal and elegant always make me stop and stare. I have to trim his feet minimally this week, dremel nails, get his face nice and white, train, walk, stack, deter play biting :p -
It was long so I cut it into thirds......me thinks he would have been happy to have it all It did remove it once hed got all the meat off and there were just the little bare ribs left....maybe I should have left him to chew on them. I have to say though Great value as a treat. $2 very well spent!! kept him entertained for ages....he got it back to bone before I posted and now hes tuckered out Cheers Bec
-
Toby says thankyou for such a quick response He is VERY VERY happy. I was worried about the bone splintering I guess and hes a little one.
-
So do you guys feed raw? I was wondering as at the moment toby has royal canin breakfast and lunch and chicken necks for dinner. Once a fortnight he gets a lamb bone with meat to chew....always followed by his bath. Is raw a no no with a white coated dog? bec
-
Okay so I got a lamb breast at woolies. Lamb ribs?? anyway I was wondering if it woud be ok for my four month old havanese? To chew/eat the bones too?? Cheers bec

VERY CUTE!! Well see you at morriset then Am so getting nervous now....its getting too close now....... Glad to hear training went well. I will admit I was a little the same and wasa little late to our class. I was nervous and stood back and watched till the others told me not to be silly and jump in line Funny no one had two heads at our class either. I feel a bit nervous in this kind of siutation and that coupled with what I had been told about showies (all untrue from my experience thus far - and all negatives told by non showies) I was expecting to feel very much like an intruder. bec -
theyre cracker photos such lovely little lions I hadnt seen him chewing/ licking I am assuming thats what it is and watch him closely now. I thought maybe he was chewing from the reg bathing? I just got a plush puppy shampoo (a conditioning one) to use instead of the fidos for reg washing. Hopefully it works. And yeah hes a boy! likes to jump off the grooming table outside for a run. We walk when its when and muddy but home for a clean up. Do you guys bathe them the night before or morning of a show? Edited to add.....I am never gonna get him to stand like that!!

that just makes you smarter than us Does it count as a brag if you win baby puppy of breed and youre the only one entered Once we hit the bigtime (6months) we will be showing against some very experienced handlers, breeders and dogs. We're in it for the fun of it. We *might* be the only baby on the first day though fingers crossed. I worry too about annoying those with experience. I want a novice go too ;) There are 2 boys in my breed Doc and Zac who are just stunning and the first I met of the breed! But their owners are sooooo nice that win lose or draw it will be nice to catch up with them. We have our local block who see us training out the front or walking loose lead who are all cheering us on asking about his first show ;) Will be nice to give them some good news Bec -

I remember a time when I wanted a pet too dont quite remember how I got myself into this caper....lol as for absorbing it all and for grooming. I have so much to learn but I have been absolutely amazed at how helpful everyone has been and how supportive and positive, especially those like yourself in the Hav thread. People all tell me I am mad and how no one will want a novice there and how bad the dog world is but I have found these comments some from outside the show world, and the the people I have met have been awesome and so welcoming. Even the dog supplies company I am getting some brushes off were chatty and interested Ohh and the angel comment......well you have one...........looks like an angel....sleeps like an angel......but NOPE no angel, my siggy needs changing to wonderbrat!! I am so glad I am not the only newbie hitting the ring.....I will post how we go....I hope you guys do too -

Well I have the fidos puppy, some plush puppy and a dazzel dog I do wish they would do sample sizes though so you could have a wash or two to test first. Toby akready has more hair products than me and more brushes too

Thanks guys for sharing I am going to pick up apple cider vinegar tomorrow My pup gets off the makeshift grooming table and runs for the backyard where he'll find a damp spot lay down and look at me (I swear he laughs too). Human shampoo I thought for some reason it was too harsh, might have been an old wives tail? A particular brand? Bec
