VERY hairy ears in this breed and dog. Both vets suggested that his ear were suffering too much hair. The second vet said anytime this boy goes under anaesthetic to get em well and truely plucked. But as we are showing he wont be desexed anytime soon. Yep I am doing a little at a time but he had a super hairy spot in one ear that I cant get to with fingers and wont try with tweezers or anything else but needs to be done, persisitence I guess was looking for an easy way out.

so my 5 month old Havanese has hairy old man ears. We have been recommended plucking by 2 vets and have to for showing as well. Only trouble is he HATES it. How do I go about training him to still still for it. Any tips?? I had thought about finding a groomer just for his ears to get the bulk out then keep up maintainence - yes a cop out I know I do all his other grooming inc nails and he wont be getting clipped as I am keeping him in coat. Maybe he could hate the groomer instead of me for a necessary evil For those groomers out there would you do it? Bec

Two questions from me So the correct way to enter sweepstakes on a NSW entry form is? Oh and I have entered a show in 2 weeks time using oz entries, and I want to enter sweepstakes now as Tobes needs more practice with other dogs in the ring with him. So, oz entries wont let me because I am not entering a breed class at the same time. Do I ring the show sec and arrange it with him/her? I dont want to bother them uneccesarily as I understand it must be a tedious and often thankless job. Bec

:D Whoops, looks like I am telling a wee little fib, I wont be at the 15th show because the 15th is my bday cant be stuffed showing on my Bday! ;) But the hillsbrough and morisset shows that are on in september I will definately be at! Yes pugs are always well represented at the newcastle area shows usually there is between 15 and 35+ the average seems to be about 25ish. Apparently (from what I've been told) the judge who was at morisset is a good pug judge so I'm assuming that the entries would have been in the high 20's. I have the catalogue with Toby's first ribbon so I can tell you Hubby said he though one placed well in group??? I was too busy rolling my eyes at my puppy who wouldnt stack in baby of group but promptly left the ring and stacked at my feet :D Yeah if ou have the dogalouge and dont mind counting them up I'd love to know how many were entered. You hubby is probably right, usually seeings pugs are so well represented atleast one will do well at group level! 32!! lots of pugs -

yeh the judge laughed and said "bet he walks better now" lol. He really did make me feel so much better and was very forgiving of Tobys enthusiasm to lick his face commenting it was a sign of a great temperament. We had a ball and are looking forward to the next one Toby did want to sniff the ring ALOT so hoping he gets over that too. Now to find out how morgan went!! Did you do sweepies? we are gonna try that next Give Tobes some practice with more dogs. He loved the other Hav showing but we tried to practice following him around the ring and he went flat out trying to get him to play! -

\YAY well done to fletcher!! I am not long back and am very glad first show is in the bag. We got baby puppy of breed - but we were the only ones showing in baby puppy Havanese lol It was freaking hillarious....all the time I was thinking we would mess up, I even asked so whats the protocol if he poops in the ring....well glad I did as what would you know 2 meters in he did just that The judge was awesome and had a giggle with me. He was very reassuring and told me it was Toby's job to be naughty and embarrass me as he is still a baby. Thank goodness for great judges and stewards . We had to wait to go in for baby in group. Toby was very overwhelmed and I decided to stand with him as he would have tried to get me to pick him up if I got on the ground to stack well we need to practice more. The LITTLE SHITE has free stacked on the ground since and not 2 mins out of the ring - but it means theres hope. We had a ball and I picked up alot. The lovely Jo (havasneeze was awesome in showing me the ropes!!!) Kids had a great day "dog show camping". But we got a go "in group" which was great experience, Toby and the boy skinkid are sound asleep. How long till the next one bindii?? we have 3 weeks. Bec -

oh my goodness - hullooo!!!!! ... please give the divine Miss Paxy a big cuddle from us and hopefully we'll see you Wed night (or Sunday) .... I can't believe we're in the same class Ok Bec - you've no excuse now, you'll have to come and say hi now! we'll be the ones in class trying to stop our dogs from playing with each other instead of doing what they are being told to do okay but I'll be the one trying to coax your boy home with me ;) he's a stunner one of the few I always remember from siggies I have been trying to find out more about CGC but the plan is to join up a week sunday Sounds like it will be nuts. Whats the parking like out the back? I have only been to the confromation shows? Bec -
I have heard about this in another thread and was wondering what it entails? I lovely DOL'er gave me some contact details for the local group but on the delta website if you click the CGC link it only brings up the instructors course? Is there anyone who has done it who could enlighten me a little? What did you get out of it, what did the dog get out of it? We are going to go along to obedience classes in the next couple of weeks hopefully. In the meantime I will email the contact. Thankyou Bec
