Hey all - how did all the newbies go?? we had a good weekend Toby got a hat trick this weekend with 3 BOB out of 3 shows :D We had competition at 2 of those shows so I was pleased And a HUGE congrats to Mr Chester Bear - aka Silverino Moon Rocket (the Ark's min pin) who in his first step out into minor beat an older bitch for BOB!!! :D :D He looked awesome out there Deb!! yup we had this issue this weekend in front and at the bakc of our gazebo in the toy ring our friend and my hubby cleaned them up before the kids found them but how gross! They were obviously ummmm not toy sized either! Pooper scoopers a couple of metres in either direction!!! Mind you some exhibitors tipped their bucket of soapy water right in the middle of our ground tarp on friday night 1.5 metres to the left or right was grass but nope walked onto the mat and deliberately up ended the bucket??????? In fact they walked over the grass to do it Should be a warning system - dont pick up after your dogs three time your suspending from showing - mind you - who wants to volunteer for poop police duty

I have a white long coated dog so rain = disaster BUT my dog hates showing in the heat above 30 and I have decided I am just not going to do it to him so I want to keep the cool!! ahhhhh were never happy

should have got his number so we could ring for next time He didnt appreciate us chatting when we finished though at all. I have been there loads with toby by myself in ring 1 and he never ever said anything always saw us must have been cause me and toby obviously need the practice Aziah did you try and set up too early Deb we are on the otherside of where we normally go too you know the mat to look for LOL

Hey another tip which was given to me was going on to the dogsnsw website and downloading the junior handlers manual for the triangles and up and backs ect. Get a hold of the DVD How to Handle at a Dog Show by Jane Harvey its REALLY basic but has great tips for newbies and handling tips in general. I loved the visual format too. Great ring training tips too Put up a post in this forum and see if you can get someone in your breed to mentor you on the day. Havasneeze (Jo) did for me and I cannot tell you how much of a Dog send it was to have her outside the ring encouraging me and telling me when to go in. I think it was the single best thing about my first show that and a great judge with a sense of humour after Toby pooped in his first metre in the ring ask any questions now some of the people in this thread are VERY knowledgable and will point you in the right direction! Forgot to add FionaC we'll be there sunday morning too and you can always drop by our unofficial training on wed at 4 at the showgrounds. That way if you want to bring an entry form, ask questions, practice stacking a dog ect you can you can borrow toby who may be the least like a GSP out of the lot. Most of us a relatively new to it but we all have fun and help each other out. You can put faces to names too before the show make us easier to spot LOL. Bec

LOL I always think that too only in Toby's case not only does it make him look worse but it also makes him behave worse. He *knows* if the other dog is a Hav too and he goes NUTS especially if its Doc And of course doc struts and always behaves..... Anyone who needs this theory proven is welcome to watch Toby go in on saturday after Doc and Jo and Sunday when hes a nigel no friends again Although for us I would much rather have Jo to show with/against than be a nigel eveytime

cool I actually know what that is LOL natural bobtail blue merle I dont know that much outside the toys in the way of specific colouring although I can now pick a marema a field spaniel and a pointeeeeeeeeee as ash would call kite LOL Bec Blue merle NBT either a dog or a bitch

no probs I was looking around last year and the higher price was the one I found then which is why I posted at this price gotta love a bargain lol

we hope at some stage this year to be getting a new baby girl Hav just have to hope everything falls into place for it and the bitch fairy visits the breeder. We arent in a super rush lebrat nees to sort a few issues out like walking in the ring and I want to get his grooming and presentation really working this year too. When she finally arrives I can tell you one thing - I will be fluffing her up and really enjoying having a baby in the ring as with tobes I waited till he was 4.5 months and only did a few shows at which I was sooooo nervous I didnt enjoy it as much as I could should be exciting seeing the thread updates here with pending arrivals! Are you getting another Hav? Yeah he couldn't resist, so it should be mid-year as the bitch isn't even in whelp yet.

No all the toys hold things up it's really just the P's!! - that is pekes poms pugs and paps - THEY hold EVERYTHING up Put the P's in their own ring and we'd still finish before em Not if toys have anything to say about it...LOL Toy group always holds up proceedings!

thankyou I was really sad about leaving my old one behind - so sad I couldnt I am staying on the books casually because I dont want to leave - it was my home for 10 years. But we couldnt co-ordinate my roster with richs around the kids and still keep the same income. I have gone to a private hospital for more money and all my hours in two long days instead of three. It was so hard trying to not stuff our bosses around and this is the best thing for my family for the next 12 months. We wont be sacrificing any money but I get an extra day off with my little boy

we are doing sat am and pm and sun am for hills and morriset ag we will be doing medowie all shows maitland, the newcastle show ground one, stroud maybe thats about as far as we got. No more fri shows for me except rare occaisions and public hols as I have resigned my job and taken on a new job. Permanent mondays and fridays but only 2 long days a week instead of three Rich is thinking about giving it a go so you *might* catch him there lol Just finished watching a 2 hour grooming DVD HILLARIOUS !! great tips and visuals so perfectly answered some of my more stupid questions but HILLARIOUS no less Coat change and product changes have given me a HUGE change in Toby's coat and he starting to feel soft and silky with his adult coat making its way through Aziah - it must be time for you to head down to the toy ring for a laugh or two at us newbies huh?? yeah I saw that and was wondering how do you do the dog treats? Dumb q I know but do you simply thinly slice raw meat and dehydrate? Do you cook it first?? Ta bec
