  1. Thanks guys for your answers. I am only new and me and my tobes will be hitting the ring for a while yet :D We all love it. And while he may never get a gr title I hope to be showing him into his prime. It was just one of those questions we were curious about but didnt really know anyone to ask. Personally I'd be dissapointed if this iggy wasnt shown anymore hes really lovely and I always watch him go round when hes here. Just one of those dogs that makes me stop and stare - and clearly very competitive still. Bec
  2. do you think many dogs are retired from the ring after they hit their Grand for no other reason than they have achieved their grand? Apologies if these q's are stupid - just curious. I havent been playing this game long enough to know the answers or to have seen enough
  3. hmmm I hadnt taken into account the different maturity rates accross different breeds. Having a coated dog I understand that although he hits one next week he wont have a truely mature coat for a while - we are still going through coat change!! lol but I do agree to retire just because they hit a number would be a shame especially before their prime.
  4. I am a fairly new exhibitor and hubby is about to give it a go too. We were talking on the way home from our last show about Gr Ch he was asking whats the point in showing a gr ch as its as high as you can go. There is one in our breed being shown still and a few that are regularly shown in our group here. My thoughts are you love winning(well dont we all LOL), love exhibiting that particular dog, or love showing and have limited dogs ? The one we show with/against alot is an iggy and I will admit I LOVE watching this dog in the ring and while he has many thousands of points and I have seen him take loads of in groups watching him and his owner in the ring is something special. Its effortless and they work as a team. Something to strive for as a new exhibitor! So my opinion is if they show so well together, enjoy it and are sucessfull - then why not! So what did you/do you do and why?
  5. Uhm, why do you think the OP should pay the entire bill? If her dog had not been there, I doubt there would have been an injury.I agree with lorraine, people get talking to rellies, around the water cooler at work, etc. And can I add that situations and peoples attitudes can change. Currently going through a situation with a tenant which started out fantastic for about 5 years and has now turned sour. If the car wasn't there, the dog wouldn't have got hit..........so it's the car drivers fault for a dog escaping it's yard is the same thing see I would have said if the dog wasnt on the road the dog wouldnt have got hit given that the roads primary use is for cars not dogs
  6. Maybe offer to purchase a crate if the pup needs to be confined with a nice blanket/bed. If they dont already have one it will just be another expense ontop of the vet bill that they will have to go get - with an interesting toy or two for the boredom it might help?? And offer to make sure the fence is all good before he gets home. Even though you have done everything with your fences I guess if you tell them your willing to make sure there are no gaps at your expense it also becomes one less thing to worry about. This might be a way of easing the financial burden a bit without seeming tight. Its a practical gesture of goodwill which shows that you do care. I agree if I was the owner of the pup I'd be annoyed at myself - not you OR your dog. I dont think you do "own" any of the responsibility of the bill. Bec
  7. Gail I know they'll be here in hillsborough for our march shows (I think the ones in just over a week. If you have no joy I can grab it and post it and you can fix me up if she has some. I can always text you from the show. Not an answer to your question though Is it better than the PP one?

  13. Ahh, I come from Kurri Kurri so would go a different way to you. I turn off the Pacific Hwy at Tomago (just over the Hexam bridge) and go down Tomago Rd/Cabbage Tree Rd to Williamtown Airport. Do you know Richardson road that goes under the freeway and follows the edge of Grahamstown Dam? I think it's the first exit off the freeway Raymond Terrace/Nelsons Bay. There are two ways you can go: 1. Follow Richardson Rd right through to the big roundabout at Campvale, and turn left onto Medowie road. Follow Medowie Rd to the next roundabout and turn left onto Ferodale Rd, then left again at the next roundabout to the showground. 2. Follow Richardson Rd past the picnic grounds/pontoon at Grahamstown Dam and turn left onto a pokey little road that continues along the shoreline, this road is Grahamstown Rd. Take the first left onto Fairlands Rd and follow it to the end. It Tee intersects onto Ferodale Rd - turn right. Follow Ferodale Rd untill you hit the first roundabout and turn right into the showgrounds As for shade, there is plenty of trees along the edge of the showground, but nothing on the field (the show is held on a footy oval). ETA: Bring mozzie repellent! They are really bad in the afternoon and into the night. Thanks for the tip I loathe mozzies!! I always have aerogard in the car, will be bringing the mozzie coils and insectrepelling sunscreen too Now since I will have the 2 legged brats too and hubby is there anywhere to get dinner like a hanmburger and chips or anything close by?? Is there going to be a canteen? We are spolied at hillsborough home is like 5 mins away so is maccas subway and more imprtantly decent coffee. I get to sit with the pup while hubby takes the kids for time out LOL Our 3x3 might seem a little small is there is no escape!! Is there a playground there?? silly questions I know! Do most go ring side or under the trees? bec oh and jess there is NO question medowie will be the place to be!! since they have all bailed on deb and I and are going to necknock instead :-( your so mean at me!we will be there after lunch! The shops are across the road and there is a good cafe thing they have pizza's and fish and chips ect!We arnt camping anymore, too much stuff going on really! you're just too chicken to camp in downtown medowie seriously you need to send me a text so I have your number right so I can let you know where youre set up....it was next to the toilets right JUST KIDDING!! 21. So does anyone have results for general specials at maitland. there was a stunning black dane who I would have liked to see go round again It was nice being first with sharing all the rings I actually got to see some of the other breeds/groups for a change - I never get past the toys and of course we always take longer than everyone else! Although my toy was a little put off on the way in by some bigger dogs at the entrance to the ring but thats where the shade was and my dog has to learn to deal with it. Ta Bec
  22. Yup I agree we need to start recruiting for victora LOL It is such an advantage as a newbie as when I walk out of the ring there are friends who enjoy the wins and comiserate the losses - or laugh at my dogs new found way to embarass me Looking out for each others dogs, times in the ring Either that OR you have to head this way LOTG as the majority are in ring 1 or at least sit there Road trip and share our shade at hillsborough we dont get many lowchen here and I would LOVE to meet lola! Oh and Sammy - we looked at tents today!!
