  1. Thank you Ash. I have no idea as to what her weight and size is, I have asked these qustions but didn't get an answer! I think either way I am in love and really hoping her boyfriend doesn't be a loser about!
  2. You can also go to your local pound and change the detail provided you have the correct address on your licence. I recently went to Wyong pound to update Oscar's details.
  3. OMG they are gorgeous!! The name Daisy definitely suits a Kangaroo!! I can't believe you own Kangaroo's, that is so cool! Not to mention the camel. Yes we will definitely be doing LOADS of training and I have already been told she needs some training. She is also going through a massive chewing stage and apparently chewed one of their couches so we'll have plenty of her own things to chew on. I'll take her to obedience once she has settled in and I've got all her vet work done. But it's good to know. I am only 48kgs so it doesn't take much to pull me over, but I've grown up riding and competing horses my whole life so never let me guard down even when walking Oscar.
  4. ;) I'm sorry!!! The name Daisy makes me think of a cow OR Jessica Simpson on the Dukes of Hazard and she was just DUMB!!! I like the name Checkers but doubt I'll get it!!
  5. I will write these names down! I think Coffee is going to be the order of the day. ;) I am going to LOVE a pillow that actually has legs.. As much as I love my little Osc he will cuddle for a couple of seconds and then it's over and out because I want a belly rub or "YAY I'm on the couch" Loyalty is the BIG thing for us and as Marcus hasn't had a dog since he was about 3 I think that's what he is looking for too. He is look for a "mate" and by the sounds of your old two he will get that. Awesome.. We're going to have a duster and a head rest that both have legs
  6. These are all the photos I have got until we get her if all goes according to plan.
  7. I like the name Molly but I've already named my car that . We have a friend called Ester and I had a horse called Ruby. My partner wants to call her Caramel Latte we are a mildly obsessed coffee addicts though. (She wont be getting called that) I've adopted tibs at 3 yrs and 2 at 8 yrs, and have changed their names. It's surprising how quickly dogs answer to a new name. But I agree with you about seeing how it goes, because our latest girl at nearly 4 yrs, was so much like her existing name, that I wouldn't dream of changing it. Keep those pics coming, tho'. She's adorable. That's comforting to know, I sometimes think I am mean in even considering changing names but I just don't like Daisy. If it's her then I guess we have a Daisy. Thank you Luvlottie. We were told she was getting dropped of on Saturday but her partner has thrown a spanner in the works by not wanting her to go, but I am confident in thinking she will be ours considering he is overseas, she is in a wheel chair from breaking her leg and they already have three dogs.. Fingers crossed Tianakaesha I had never actually thought of that but that is a great way to put it! Here I am naming my car that's how personal it comes for me but definitely a thought to keep as we both don't like Daisy.
  8. haha that's something to look forward to! Casowner I understand every dog is different but did you find that they were quick learners and attentive or a little on the lazy side?
  9. Ok I didn't think she was pure but they are trying to tell me otherwise, not that it really matters! I guess it is more a curiosity thing really. Thank you
  10. we think she is pretty gorgeous as well! Ditto! I actually like a dainty flower name for big sweetheart girls like this. Daisy or Lily or whatever. I like dainty names too but for some reason I have never liked the name Daisy. We'll see how it goes, if they have only just renamed her recently then we'll seriously think about changing it.
  11. Hey Guys, We may be having an extra four legs joining our camp and we are pretty excited about it! She was a mans dog that lived in a caravan park that left her changed up outside all day and in the rain, a friends sister grabbed her about 5 months ago as he was leaving town and going to dump her. they've been trying to find her a new home as they already have 3 dogs but the partner is getting rather attached. No training or known vet work but she already lives with 2 little dogs and is an absolute sweetheart and basically just a pup. She would be roughly 10 months old now. I'm just wondering if you think she is pure or what else she might have in her? I don't think she is pure but really wouldn't have a clue what else could be in her? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Guys. Oh and her name is Daisy. (Not sure if we will keep that though)
  12. I ticked 'No' to all three but we have had a few health issues. I try to keep his protein intake down. Yeast infections in his ears Prostate problem
  13. I have never heard this and I have a Cav.. However I do use a harness on him as he has a few breathing issues and I don't like the thought of pulling around his neck.
  14. I use Paragard on my boy. I wormed him 2.5 months ago and caught him dragging his bum last night. That doesn't matter, I always try and worm him about 1-2 weeks before he is due again anyways.
  15. With all those breeds you have noted I have had personal encounters with.. Granted ALL dogs MUST be trained and without training and discipline they can cause problems. I remember growing up and at the end of my street there was a Collie Rough that although his name wasn't lassie thats what we called him.. Back in the day when dogs still roamed. He was the most amazing dog and just had so much wisdom about him. Everyone in the street loved him. He used to help us kids cross the road from getting off the school bus.. Beautiful dogs and sure they need exercise but in my experience they will veg out if you want to veg out.. Cocker Spaniels - Beautiful dogs and yes they do have some energy on them but most dogs do.. My pop had these growing up and had a few himself when he was older and he always said they were the most beautiful gentle dogs he had ever owned.. However he did breed and show Cardigan Corgi's for 20 odd years. I think he didn't show the cockers because his last one was stolen out of his car and that broke his heart. and Cavaliers. Well I have one and would tell anyone to get one, providing they got from a great breeder. (all these breeds need to be brushed and groomed.. But really, it's not that much of an effort)
  16. Sorry to say but that is complete rubbish!!! cavaliers are PERFECT family pets and I have never heard of a breeder that wont sell their pups to families.. Don't turn someone off a beautiful dog that is made for families because you heard a couple of whispers! I have 7 nieces and nephews and when Oscar was 6 months old and my niece was 18 months old, they sat there and ate lunch together.. He was patient and careful of her.. Still to this day my dog see's a child and ADORES them.. The tail starts wagging and the excitement wriggles thru him..
  17. I have a cavalier and can only sing praise for my little man. If you want a dog that is a constant shadow and is just a complete sweetheart then I'd say get a cavy.. The only down thing I will say about getting a Cavalier is, they are VERY prone to health issues. Make sure you research your breeder EXTREMELY well.. Oscar has only just turned two and he has respiratory problems!! He is full of beans and loves a good run around and he gets so exciting when we come home or he see's someone he knows but when he does these things and gets too excited he has gagging fits and can't breathe.
  18. I have Oscar on a harness and just a normal lead. We only ever walk off lead when we are in an open space and I know the area.
  19. My dog is in the house when I am home outside when I am not. I don't have a doggy door so during the day when I am home I will leave the back door open so he can do as he wishes but at night the door is shut.. I will tell him to go potty when I shut the door and we got potty before bed. The time we go to bed really depends on how tired I am. I take him potty before bed and potty when we wake up. If I am having a sleep in and he is busting then I can hear his little feet doing a dance and he puts his feet on the side of the bed to wake me up..
  20. I'm getting a Devon at the end of the year and SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited..!! My reasoning for choosing a Devon is for a number of reasons. Main reason being I am allergic to cats and these guys almost don't shed, they are a hybrid breed therefore I wont have Cavalier tumble weeds or kitty hair everywhere. My Partners parents have two Burmese and a Ragdoll.. AJ the Ragdoll is a big fatty but a sweetheart where as Missy and Coco the Burmese are so interesting and fun, they play fetch and as Ellz says are like spider monkeys but love a good cuddle. My understanding is that the Devon Rex come from the Burmese but they are 10 times better in personality..
  21. Your pooch will be perfectly fine. People and animal get operated on every day of the week. Everyone bounces back to normal. Just give him lots of cuddles and treats and probably in a matter of 2 - 3 days you'll see him back to his bouncy self. He may be a little groggy when you first pick him up but they are tough little cookies.
  22. I wouldn't take any notice of that vet. My vet hasn't seen any cases. LOL that particular clinic has buckleys chance in hell of getting any of my business - they lost any opportunity the day I saw them advertising puppies, specifically dogue de bordeauxs! I saw this sign too.. The one at Wyong? I was advised my Oscar's breeder to Vac every 3 years and I have done loads of research that support this. When we trotted off to the vet the other week about is infection the vet got stroppy with me because he hadn't been vaccinated with the special 3 year vac. I had no idea about this 3 year Vac. Are you guys using it?
  23. At what point does the Police not take more action for someone to be questioned.. Does anyone know why this person is trying to kill all the dogs? The motive behind it.
  24. How on earth can a vet seriously charge $30k for the dog to be ventiloated for a week? If it honestly costs that much then sure I'll eat my words but that just sounds like a vet taking advantage of distressed people. The drug they used to keep her under was propofol, which is quite expensive, it is also short acting so needs to be administered fairly regularly. They could have used something cheaper and longer acting such as pentobarbitone (euthanasia solution but a lower concentration) but that would have been more risky, although I know country vets sometimes do it for 1080 poisoning. There were also secondary complications such as aspiration pneumonia which required physio regularly and extra drugs nursing, radiographs etc. The dog had to be monitored very closely- every 10 minutes so they basically had to pay the salary of a night nurse and vet for 7 days. This was at a specialist center in a high income area, so I guess that is just the price you pay, although this practice is known to be one of the most expensive in sydney. I can understand the dog probably needed close attention but $30k is well and truly over the top!! They are clearly preying on the rich.
