I never give rawhide anything anymore, I hate it. We also advise all puppy owners against it as well. If they want something to chew, either a Nylabone, Chew N Kleen or a raw meaty bone. In my experience with both our Bullies and Frenchies, they give it a quick chew then down the hatch it goes, or at least tries to, I have had too many chocking episodes to ever be comfortable feeding it again.

Raw Lamb Bones From Butcher
Bouledogue Français replied to Alibear's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Alibear, my guys both adults and puppies get marrow bones ( also called cannon bones ) plus lamp flaps, lamb necks etc.. and I have never had them get tapeworm from eating them. If your boy is up to date with his worm medication, I am positive he will be fine. -

Yes, good for puppies and adults. -
Sorry to hear this Jacqui, a piece of your heart will always belong to Molly.

I hate Supercoat , have tried it in the past, when on it, my dogs do nothing but poop and poop, and makes them drink excessively. Eagle Pack does it for me.

Safe, Mild Sedative Required
Bouledogue Français replied to hilaryo's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I wouldn't be using ACE or ACP for a dog that is flying. This drug can affect the dog's ability to regulate it's body temperature. -
Yes, we have a few different types of coats, in winter when we go to shows, if it's raining and cold when we go walking, and one girl needs a coat on even when she is inside on winter nights, she feels the cold very badly. Frenchies feel the cold as well as being heat sensitive

Preferred Dry Food

We are Eagle Pack lovers. If I couldn't get that then I would most probably go to Royal Canin. -
Yes, Tony Cortese , ph: 9702 9027 and he lives at Hampton Park. You have to phone him and make an appiontment as he has greyhound kennels also his wife has a pizza parlour. I heard he has been at a few shows at KCC Park lately, working on dogs there, that is another option.

Should I Put This Puppy Down?
Bouledogue Français replied to Roxanne's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Looks like you need to find yourself a new vet, thankfully you didn't take the advice from your first vet and put your puppy to sleep. I am so pleased for you. Did the ortho vet suggest what kind of diet to have him on, did she say anything about him being down on pasterns etc... other than there is nothing wrong with him. Edited for spelling mistakes  -

Ok, I can't help you but somebody that way may be able to direct you to a good ortho vet. Please let us know what happens. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. -
Should I Put This Puppy Down?
Bouledogue Français replied to Roxanne's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Looks like he is very down on pastern and one foot turns out, very similar to my boy but my boy was not as bad, please please get a second opinion, it may well be the fact that he is growing way too fast, maybe diet related, etc... I wouldnt be doing anything until I had a another opinion, and not just from any vet either. Edited to add: What State are you in?? As somebody may be able to direct you to another vet. -

The second photo, is the pup standing??? Did the breeder give you a reason why he wouldnt take the pup back? Did you get photos of the pup before you brought it? -
Should I Put This Puppy Down?
Bouledogue Français replied to Roxanne's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Oh I have just seen the photo. Is the pup overweight? I have had a pup who had huge joints on his front legs and was very down on his pasterns and his feet turned out badly and they were what I call flip floppy, took him to one of my vets and he said not to give him calcium ( as in his experience added calcium didnt help and can actually do more harm ) , that this was something seen in large breeds, even though this pup was not a large breed, it was simply the pup growing way too fast. He told me to give him until he was 6 months old and in most cases it rights itself, and not to limit the exercise either, but of course be careful, I can't remember but he said something about the tendons in his feet as well. This pup's feet pasterns etc have come right but he still has quite big knuckle joints still, but the vet is not worried at all. -

Is it just the joint in the front leg or all his joints that are enlarged? I wouldn't be giving the pup any calcium until you have got a second opinion, and I would be going to somebody like an orthopedic vet or another vet who has a lot of experience in this area. Also maybe contact other breeders in your area who have the same breed, maybe able to help you as well? Is it possible to get a photo of this pup? -
Where Do You Wash Your Dogs?

Frenchies in the huge laundry sink. Bullmastiffs in the double shower, easier for them to walk in and out of. -
Vet Told Me To Switch From Barf
Bouledogue Français replied to Divine Angel's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Mine all get goat milk. Actually they all get the odd drink even when I dont have babies. Edited to add: I forgot the question about changing from barf, did the vet give you any other advice or even some oil until you got her to go again, or wanted to see her back etc? Anything other than that stupid comment about giving a can of Pal? Keep feeding what you are feeding and maybe add some oil, more meat, you have been given some good suggestions. Pal ?? -
You got that right!

Neither should Frenchies. I think we all know the Brachy breeds require a little extra care, I always make sure the vet I am going to has had experience with Brachy breeds and anaesthetics. If not I dont go there. Frenchies can be prone to obstructions of the airways after the tube has been removed. They should be watched closely after the tube is taken out, and until they are fully conscious and able to stand. Length of tube should also be measured as they have short necks, you have to be carful that the tube isnt passed too far down. Vets may have years of experience but not with your particular breed. Don't forget they are only human and can/do make mistakes. ( Flame suit on LOL ) Our breed has a letter we take to the vet, explains all about the breed and problems with them and sedating/anaesthetics etc etc.. Maybe something like that to hand to your vet ( if you have one of these breeds that are sensitive ) if you are unsure?? If the vet doesnt like it, go else where.

Who is pet deli? Is that something like our Katz K9 Kitchen? I used to get it through them but then got onto a distributor and found her to be much cheaper.

April 05, will be well gone before then. I use the Natural Formula, but when I can't get it I use the Large/Giant breed puppy, just the same except added Glucosamine.

Green Discharge
Bouledogue Français replied to blacklabrador's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Often puppy vaginitis resolves on its own, but I would still be taking her to the vet to get it checked out. Then you will know what to do if she gets it again. Has she had a season yet? -

How old is your puppy? Could be puppy vaginitis ?? Best to get it checked by the vet to be on the safe side. -
I just love Eagle Pack! They all like it , even my fusser eater and I love the results I get with it. I highly recommend it. Last lot I got a couple of weeks ago cost me $78 for a 15 kg bag.
