  1. Hi bianca.a, A fellow East Gipslander. Eagle Point is very pretty.
  2. Saw the news footage of this dog in a paved courtyard, whether it was a husky or malamute, or any other breed, I wonder how much exercise this dog had each day!
  3. Is it safe to give my dog Comfortis chewable tablets? Comfortis chewable tablets have been demonstrated to be safe in pure and mixed breeds of healthy dogs when used according to label directions. Safety was established in puppies 14 weeks of age and older and adult dogs in both laboratory studies and clinical field studies. You should discuss the use of Comfortis chewable tablets with your veterinarian prior to use if your dog has a history of epilepsy (seizures). Is it safe to give my breeding dogs Comfortis chewable tablets? Use with caution in breeding females. You should discuss the use of Comfortis chewable tablets with your veterinarian prior to use in breeding females. Safe use of Comfortis chewable tablets in male dogs intended for breeding has not been evaluated. What side effects might occur with Comfortis chewable tablets? Like all medications, sometimes side effects may occur. In some cases, dogs vomited after receiving Comfortis chewable tablets. If vomiting occurs within an hour of administration, redose with another full dose. During clinical studies, no severe or prolonged vomiting occurred. Additional adverse reactions observed in the clinical studies were decreased appetite, lethargy or decreased activity, diarrhea, cough, increased thirst, vocalization, increased appetite, redness of the skin, hyperactivity and excessive salivation. These reactions were regarded as mild and did not result in any dog being removed from the studies. Since the introduction of Comfortis, additional side effects reported are incoordination, itching, trembling and seizures. Thanks for your information, I don't think I will be administering Comfortis to my dogs again, it was too stressful for them and also myself. Hated seeing them feeling unwell, knowing I was responsible.
  4. Thanks, my concern was that it had clearly effected both this morning, my boy has brightened up, but my girl is still not a happy camper.
  5. Thank you so much, it was given with a full meal and the vommiting was through the night, so I clearly have no reason to re-dose. I appreciate everyones imput, Thanks again.
  6. Which is the active contituent in Comfortis, I do feel so guilty, return to what I was using before............. as I hate seeing them like this!
  7. I have inside residing toy breeds and gave comfortis to mine including a 5 month old bitch about a month ago. Of the seven I had here at the time only one vomitted the rest were fine. I rang the company and spoke to a rep - who actually took a report. She told me to try her again as she had vomitted with a hour or so of ingestion. I did this a couple of days later but with the same result so I am obviously not going to be able to use it on her, mind you her 5 month old full sister was fine. Also she came in season a few days after the second try so that may have contributed to her reaction. I started using it January/February last year when we had a flea outbreak and nothing else was working. I only use it during the hot months and until this incident have had no problems with it. Thanks for sharing your experience, even though I thought i had researched the product, clearly not! Unfortunately I am unaware of which of the kids vommited, so will not be adminstering again for at least a month, if I do indeed make that choice.
  8. Thank you your advice, though I am not sure whther I will choose to use it again, they don't eat much during the day, and my biggest concern is how quiet they are, being huskies they are normally climbing the walls.....lol, and I worry what I have put in there bodies for such a change in behaviour.
  9. I read everything inside and out and felt confident with administering the tablets. But seeing them both not themselves, I am concerned that perhaps I have made the wrong choice.
  10. Wow,I wish I had seen it sooner, thanks for that though. I doubt whether I will be using them again.
  11. I gave both the furkids Comfortis for the first time yesterday at 5.30pm with food. This morning they are both lethargic, not the normal chaos as I usually have each morning. One had also vommited during the night. Am I being paranoid or should I be concerned? Thanks for any advice.
  12. We live in a semi-established estate, with approximately 100 permanent residents and the other houses on our estate are for ones that use them intermittenly i.e HOLIDAYS, well that time has arrived! As permanent residents of the estate, we all respect each other and others dogs and walk our dogs on lead, it seems the people that come down for a holiday forget the laws!!!! It is only Boxing day and already dogs are running around off lead and gates are left open while their dogs are outside and the owners are not there. These owners clearly do not realise the dangers of our estate, we have Ticks, Snakes, Foxes, Rabbit and Wombat burrows I KNOW I WILL BE WALKING MY DOGS ELSEWHERE FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS but really wonder why I should have too?
  13. We have had to change our times we walk so we don't get rushed at by off lead dogs as one of my dogs is reactive, but now we have found 6am and 9pm are our perfect walking times though rabbits are an issue
  14. Everyday I walk my dogs for an hour in the morning before work and then later at night also for an hour and just enjoy the experience. The sheer pleasure they show is contagious.......lol I wouldn't have the same amount of fun throughout my day, if I didn't do this. Does anyone else feel the same?
  15. Always on lead, had a scary experience once, thankfully the outcome was good, but am not prepared to experience it again. Holes scare me also, we live in an area where we have rabbit warrens, so am very aware of not letting my dogs stick there heads in them.
  16. Exactly why I wanted to share, these guys were great, we respected each others rights and the dogs rights :D
  17. I too thanked these guys for the respect that they showed towards us.....
  18. I don't find it funny, I have the same issue. I worry that after a dozen attacks by small, loose, aggressive dogs, mine will quite reasonably stop tolerating it and defend themselves - that's what I am trying to avoid. No matter how well I socialise my friendly large dogs with well mannered, polite small dogs, it can all get undone by attacks on the street. It's not funny having a couple of big dogs on-lead when they are being attacked by anything, it ruins a walk and risks a fall, and one small aggressor felt a hard kick in the ribs recently from me when they refused to heed my yells at them. I know it's far worse to have a small dog attacked by a large one, and I do feel for the owners of small dogs, very much so. But take my word for it, it's no picnic the other way around either. efs Exactly, thats why this morning it was such a lovely experience.........
  19. Thats why I shared my experience......it does work both ways, I have two huskies that have a very high prey drive, and one has been rushed at numerous times by smaller breed which he has become quite reactive to. The reason for the big thank you !!! And I would never let them off leash knowing the potential danger around smaller dogs, that is insane you had to deal with that!
  20. So often we have had to deal with small dogs offlead, most are running at us barking, wanting to take my two onlead larger breed dogs on Which brings me to the reason I am sharing my experience today......... This morning two gentleman with their small offlead dogs were fishing and enjoying this beautiful weather, respected myself and my two furkids and gave us the oppurtunity also to enjoy the lovely environment that we live in. We did't have to deal with small dogs rushing at us. A BIG BIG THANK YOU!!!!! IT was lovely. THANK YOU to all those that are responsible when out walking their furkids, it makes for a much more pleasurable experience.
  21. That is so cool! They just love it and I loved the skate-boarder!
