Good luck and hope you manage some sleep during the night.

Congrats Prydenjoy. Lucky she waited for you sister to arrive. The last girl from my litter took a while to get going as well, she was breech and the placenta had detached. She needed lots of rubbing and had lots of gunk in her mouth, but she is the loudest of all of them. :D

all from me too, quoting saves me typing out the same thing :D ditto here!

they are so cute! I am getting very puppy clucky, not sure Fern is though Thanks Rebanne, The puppy breathe in my bedroom is to die for. I think Fern will be very happy once they are all out!

Sounds like everyone is doing well and there are more puppies not too far away. Good luck! Can't believe that my puppies are two weeks old today, it has gone so quickly. Most of their eyes are open and they are like leeches everytime Penny gets into the whelping box. She is such a good mum though and they are all putting on weight. A couple of the boys are now over 1kg.

Congratulations Fordogs, glad you got some sleep.

Awwwww!!! Congrats to you and Lucy. Hope you had a good night.

Looks like it's getting a bit crowded in there.

Good luck Oakeydoak1.

Thanks everyone. Penny didn't do much nesting yesterday. Even ate three sausages about 15 minutes before the first one arrived. I was expecting her to take a bit longer to start, luckily I was watching her, the first one was nearly born in the hallway, just as well the hall runner is navy blue. She is loving the beef broth I have cooked, highly recommend it.

Good luck Got nuthin, I'm sure everything will go to plan. I have one boy who is a little bit chesty, but seems to have settled down a bit.

Hi Everyone, Mum and babies doing well. We have four black boys, three cream boys and two cream girls. Was hoping for a black girl in there, but they are all doing well at the moment and that's all that matters. Will add some pictures tomorrow.
-
Thanks Cavalblaze, I have the whelping box next to my queen size bed as well. I'm thinking it will be sometime during the night. She is trying to sleep in between being totally uncomfortable. So after not much sleep last night, I can see we will be totally wrecked by tomorrow. One consulation is that my preferred vet is on call tonight. That has to be a bonus.

good luck Thanks Rebanne, Gee I hate waiting for anything.

Stayed home from work today, Penny was up and down all night and has been panting since about 8am. The only place she seems to nest is when we go outside and she digs in the woodshed. Fingers crossed it will be in daylight hours.
-
Wow Cavalblaze, how big is she going to be by the time she is due? We now have the whelping box in place, Penny has been bathed and tummy clipped and will start taking temperatures from tonight. At least she has stopped playing tug of war with the other two and is content just to lie around.
-
I can totally relate to that. However, Penny just wants to sit on anyone's knee at the moment, I hope for her sake she goes a couple of days early (and our knees). :D Would love to see pictures of Lucy.

goodo! Someone else with lots of large puppies wrecking their backyard I know the feeling, it has taken just on four years for my yard to recover and I maybe putting the house on the market in the next couple of weeks. The timing isn't crash hot, but the property we're looking at would be fantastic. Congrats to the litters confirmed. I can now feel puppies chasing rabbits.

Hi Fordogs, She sure is expanding, starting to slowing down and is eating heaps. She has always taken a back seat to the other two eating, not now, they don't get a look in.
-
Good luck everyone with your ultrasounds, hope everything goes well. I have added some pics of Penny's expanding belly. The first at five weeks and then today (six weeks). It's four and a half years since my last litter too, I'm sure it will come back to us.

Introducing Puppies To Other Family Dogs
poodlesrule replied to poodlesrule's topic in Breeders Community
Thanks for the replies. I think it will be a gradual introduction between puppies and other dogs. I don't think I will have any problems. More that I don't want the expectant mum to freak out and leave them for me to look after! Thanks for the kind wishes for the litter. -
Just wondering how others manage introducing other family dogs to a new litter of puppies? Do you keep them all seperated for the first couple of weeks or longer? I would be interested to know, as I have another neutered bitch and neutered dog at home and they all sleep together in my room. I plan to set up the whelping box in there and will keep the other two away from her, but am not sure if this will make it harder when they then have to deal with a heap of puppies. This will be the first litter for this bitch and I don't want to stress her any more than is necessary. My desexed bitch has had a litter previously, but there there were only two legged kids around to annoy her. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks Rebanne, hope to add some pics of my girl's belly on the weekend.
