Best Clippers For Fuzzy Feet?
PuddleDuck replied to PuddleDuck's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks BC Crazy! Nariko what did you wind up buying? I emailed them last week and haven't heard back. I think I might just get the same ones as BC crazy :) darn fuzzfoot! -
I think it all started with the ferrets..... Love all three of them!!! I wish I had a bigger place but we are beyond capacity!
-
Just wondering if someone can recommend a good clipper for extraordinarily ticklish fuzzy feet. I'm a bit time poor and hoping to get some clippers as a faster alternative to scissors!

So sorry owey, run free bailey

A Most Disgusting Conversation Overheard
PuddleDuck replied to Christina's topic in General Dog Discussion
In this house the dogs and cat get threatened regularly with being sent to the dodgy Chinese restaurant next door :) -
When does clean run do free shipping? And how much is it normally?

Rather Awkward Question - May Offend
PuddleDuck replied to Pollywaffle's topic in General Dog Discussion
With doof it seems to be linked to him sitting. He sits and out it comes!! I tend to make him drop now when we have guests over  -
Naaaawwwwww! Fuzzball furpants!!! So cute!!!!
-
I'm actually on it for pain management-it helps in blocking pain message to the brain. It's great for that, and I am very VERY mellow now as a side effect (can't get worked up about anything if I try  ) I strongly agree with BC Crazy though-that seems like a massive dose. I would start low and work up if you need to. That's what they recommend for humans

Removing Poo/ Smell From Carpet.
PuddleDuck replied to Esky the husky's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Febreeze is great to get rid of the pet smell on carpets-I use it here and it make such a difference!! I do hate carpet though-I want to rip it out on a daily basis -
Ours eat basically all fruit and veg. Doof ate half a lemon one cos Bear sniffed it-the look on his face was priceless! We don't call him doofus for nothing  I find the funniest one is cherry tomatoes. Invariably they forget what they are and if we give it to them whole they walk around with it in their mouth for about half an hour going 'well it came from the kitchen so it must be people food and I can't put it down because *insert other dogs name* will steal it but wtf do I do with it'. Then one of them accidentally chomps it and suddenly everyone remembers the food is on the inside. It'd probably take them about 2 weeks to work out eggs still in their shells

What Do Behaviourists Do? Just Out Of Curiosity...
PuddleDuck replied to Rilla-My-Rilla's topic in General Dog Discussion
I was doing what (from my research anyway) is the only undergraduate degree in animal behaviour (on extended maternity leave ATM). It's through Macquarie in sydney and is B. Science with a major in Brain, Behaviour and Evolution. It covers broad behaviour theories, but does not cover dogs (or really domestic animals) specifically at all. But if you want to learn about insect behaviours...it's awesome! Not all qualifications are what they seem, and that's why I always prefer to go off word of mouth recommendations for dog behaviourists -
I'm a sucker for the white ones too...I saw a photo of her tubby little self at around 3 weeks I think and just screamed 'HER! MINE!' (awkward as i was at work at the time!) and thank god Di and Denise agreed!!! I mainly post on here on my phone cos the girlchild monopolises my ability to go near a computer so I cant post anything very recent but there are shots from our 2009 and 2010 snow trips with the doggles here if you want to see her as an adult: http://community.webshots.com/user/puddleducknsdtr She hasn't changed much-possibly a bit rounder after my bedrest etc over the last 12 months And the cheeky bugger with the pointy ears is my Doofus :) Di's daughter Nic has her brother Morgan and I know the lady who has her sister Shadow. And I got to meet them all when they were 6 weeks old and I convinced hubby that 'no, albury is absolutely on the way home to Sydney from thredbo!' (for the record it added 8 hours to the trip  ) It's been an amazing experience for me-she is my first purebred and the first one I've had since puppyhood. I've had dogs all my life but they've always come from the pound as adults. I love it when she does something and I can just look at her and say 'oh that is just SO toller of you!!' she's also proven herself remarkably happy with apartment living (lucky cos we can't afford to move!!!)
-
Ohhhhh that's testing me ptolomy!!! Bear is 4 in June and she is from cozzie's (tollwest's Ximimez B C'Oz) first litter in Australia (she was mated in the US before Denise and Di imported her). Her sire is pinnokka beach bonfire. If anyone knows the litter-she's the one with all the white
-
I decided to get a toller about 10 years ago-we had one stay in a kennel I worked out for a few days and I kept hoping his owner wouldn't come back for him  7 years later we got our Kodiak Bear from Ximimez. My toller is a total snugglebunny who is at her happiest curled up in the arms of me or my husband. She is fairly indifferent towards everyone else and takes a while to warm to them. She's is surprisingly not the most energetic dog I've ever owned-last year I was on bedrest for quite a while and she didn't give a damn about missed walks, so long as she got her cuddles! She's a total piglet-around here she is known as the seagull, does get a little manic about food!

My Niece Wants A Dd Just Like Gillards!
PuddleDuck replied to Squidgy's topic in General Dog Discussion
At her age would she be funding said dd herself or would it be mum & dad putting up the cash? If it's her parents then go to them, explain the potential health issues and give them a rough idea of costs that can be incurred managing these condition or the pain that their daughter would incur having no choice but to have her dog pts. That should put them off If its her, take her to a reputable shelter and show her all the cute puppie and dogs desperate for a home, might pull the emotional heartstrings enough to change her course. It did for me when I was young, stupid and wanted a pup from a petstore -
I worked at a few kennels 10 years ago and we would double up (minimum) all kennels in school holidays. I didn't last long after that. The owners of the dogs were never aware of it - they only allowed inspections by appointments so we could move dogs into yards/other kennel blocks. In hindsight I can tell you not one of the staff there knew a thing about behaviours and it's just sheer luck that nothing went wrong : Mita-speaking of long kennel stays- another kennel I worked at had 2 fluffies that boarded 46 weeks a year. Their owners lived o/s and had summers here, wanted to have dogs in the house while they were here the kennel staff basically adopted the poor little things while they were boarding
