Adorable Or Ridiculous? *new Pic - Post #39
DogNerd replied to yellowgirl's topic in General Dog Discussion
Love it! It's silly but definitely adorable -
Made mine, they're great aren't they! There are the old ones at http://elfyourself.jibjab.com/ but I don't think the elves sing in those... Here's mine http://sendables.jibjab.com/view/UB9kXr6TPDQOiHYX

Thanks guys, it's very interesting. It's funny how you describe the spaniels and pointers, I've come across a few that are definitely like that!
-
Sorry if this has been done before. I thought about this a while ago and now after reading the thread about getting a Saluki, it reminded me. What are the similar characteristics of each group? (not necessarily the show groups) I know Spitz can be stubborn, head-strong etc and it also comes down to different breeds and different personalities but how would YOU describe your group in general? One I'm really curious about is the Gundogs...

Not sure I need words either...

Tilly looooves her blue squeaky ball. I use it to train her sometimes. We've had to buy about 3 of the same ball because she won't play with any other. We got the same ball in green once and she'd always choose blue over green. We put it away for a couple of days and then bring it out again because she can get very obsessed. I actually just told her off for getting up on the kitchen table to reach onto the cabinet to get it...

Most of the breeds I've chosen because I've had a bit of experience with them, I wouldn't necessarily own them... GROUP 1- Bichon Frise, Maltese, Pomeranian GROUP 2- West Highland White Terrier, Scottish Terrier, Bedlington Terrier GROUP 3- English Springer Spaniel, Labrador, Weimaraner GROUP 4- Basset Hound, Beagle, Borzoi GROUP 5- Belgian Shepherd (Groenendael), Old English Sheepdog, Cardi & Pem Corgis, Finnish Lapphund GROUP 6- Samoyed, Akita, Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute, Newfoundland GROUP 7- All Poodles & Keeshond

LMAO. I love the end with her husband... I think it's a kind of fun way to look at it, it's attention grabbing and not intended to pull at your heartstrings like others are.

There are other reasons as to why we're taking a break. It's not solely based on others behaviour. I can make the decision to keep showing these Summer months and just not be near those people. It could be hard if the people are in your breed, though. The point is that it's happening and it's making new people not want to continue and in some cases even start showing. So it's affecting numbers isn't it...

As a newbie, I enjoy showing and Barney enjoys showing. It's a great day out for him and it's great training for him. I wrote a post before saying how I enjoy it but lately I've seen people who I thought were nice turn sour, negative and show unsportsmanlike behaviour. An offhand (or maybe not) remark made by someone whilst I was within a metre of them topped it off and helped me make the decision to take a break over these Summer months. I'm never one to complain or make a big deal about things but I thought I'd add this experience here as I'm another who has been put off by other peoples behaviour. You can say "You need thick skin to show/it's your fault for being sensitive etc" But I believe competition is no excuse for nastiness and to treat people like crap. I'm sure most of the people in this thread are nice and welcoming to newbies, but a great deal (maybe not in this thread) aren't. If you want new people in the rings then at least show politness and courtesy to people giving it a go.

Is it ok to ask a judge after judging or when they're on a break, WHY they chose your dog? Or is that considered rude/bad form?

YAY! so glad she's home

What Are The Different Breed That You Have?
DogNerd replied to TC001's topic in General Dog Discussion
Maltese X desexed male 3 years old Toy Poodle desexed female 2 years old Samoyed entire male 10 months old The Samoyed is a big doofus too who gets in trouble by the little dogs if he gets too rough. The Poodle is the higher up of the dogs. The little ones are more people orientated so they really would rather Barney didn't exist lol. They don't initiate play with him and ignore him most of the time. -
Welcome! Happy birthday for the other day Bobby :D Here's the link to the Samoyed and Japanese Spitz owners thread- heaps of pics and funny stories there . http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/221234-japanese-spitz-and-samoyed-thread/page__st__2580

I never really enjoyed the beach, but Barney loves it so he gets to go every now and then. And I'm not sure we should call this water 'fun' but... he's in the water. Lol.

I'm new to showing and I've found it a bit hard, my dogs breeder is in NSW so we don't really have that support at shows. I'm also incredibly shy so that made it even harder to talk to people and get the help I needed! I'm lucky though as my dad is a chatterbox who'll strike up a conversation regardless of whether the other person is interested in talking to him  So I just bring him along to shows :D I've had some not so nice things said to me, but we've continued going and made friends in the breed and I love going to shows now. I'm sure a person who isn't used to that wouldn't have, though. Maybe the shows need to be advertised more, where it is, what time, and what it's about. I know that costs money, but if we could reach the average person maybe there would be more interest? (Sorry if this is already done) We once went to an ag show where the dog rings were set up quite a fair bit away from the main area, I understand this could have been for the safety of the dogs etc but that means people have to make the effort to walk the distance to see the dogs. I don't think some people would do that, and if it had been closer there would have been more people coming to see them.

LOL so cute. Reminds me of when I did this to Tilly... She's funny, anytime you put something on her, a coat etc she 'freezes' just won't move. You can call her try and make things fun but she won't move. I guess she really hates it! OH and Barney being a pile of clothes
-
She looks so happy doesn't she?!
-
This is my pack. 2 year old Tilly the poodle, nearly 3 Pippin the Maltese X and Barney the 9 month old Samoyed.
-
Cute lol. There's also Amplimesh Supascreen you can get- nearly exactly like crimsafe.
-
Will contact the CCCQ then. Thanks everyone!
-
Thanks for that

Just wondering what the rules are? If people make something etc are they allowed to have a sign at their gazebo? Is this something people take up with the kennel club hosting the show?
