Congratulations!! My boy Barney is from Kylie, absolutely beautiful Samoyeds in looks and temperament :) I think your plan is great, not many owners would do that. The only issue I could think of is you may need to practise leaving him alone every now and then to teach him how to amuse himself (with toys, food, etc not messing up the house!) Regarding cats, I have cats and Barney gets along with them well. He sometimes forgets his size but the cats are quick to get out of his way :laugh: He certainly doesn't want to eat them. The puppy is from Anaky, yeah? I think Kylie has cats anyway so puppy would probably be used to them. He may want to harass the cat at 6 months of age but if you're firm with him and teach him that that's not on I think you'll be fine... You could also invest in a soft crate if he isn't a furniture destroyer that way it's easy to take when you travel and you have somewhere to put him if he needs to be out of the way. Or just use a standard crate. Anyway there are plenty of knowledgeable people on this forum who'll probably pop in to help! There's a Spitz sub forum too so you'll have to post pics of puppy when you get him :laugh: You've chosen a great breed :D

Before going to obedience we used to take Barney for a short walk just to take the edge off him lol

I'm looking at getting a dog trailer in the very near future, what sort do you have and what would you reccomend? Also what WOULDN'T you reccomend? I'll more than likely be looking at second hand.

Just found a little white lump thing on Barneys paw. Pic below. It's quite smooth, at first I thought it was a little tick but it seems to be a part of his skin. Fairly hard. I also thought maybe a wart but it seems too smooth to be one? Has anyone seen anything like this?? *Please excuse my festy nail

I use Plush Puppy, I think it's the wheat germ/volumising one. Depending on their coat condition ill use Chris Christensen Volumising response protein. Only on the pants and ruff though.

A while ago I tried my Samoyed on the chicken & rice. I found he lost a fair bit of weight and I had to feed him quite a bit to get it back on and keep it on. Now I'm trying the fish & potato on him and my German Spitz and they're doing really well on it, I'm very happy with it. I'm going to pick up a bag of the lamb & rice and see how we go.

I grew up with a Labrador. We then got a pet shop Maltese X and a BYB Poodle. They are family dogs. I now have a Samoyed & German Spitz. I absolutely love them, they are fantastic breeds and my next dog will definitely be another Samoyed and then further down the track another GS. The only other breed I think I'd MAYBE get one day would be Poodle.

My boys stay inside. They're pretty good as long as the bathroom/toilet door is closed and they have no access to cardboard. That's only for up to 2 hours a day though. If we're going out for longer than 2h they go over to my parents house.

Turkey necks, chicken frames and brisket bones. All do a good job of keeping his teeth in check. I'm sure he'd LOVE a pig head but I could not bring myself to do that, haha.

Hahaha yes!! We get this all the time... "How do you keep him sooo white?!" Ummmm he's basically brown! I think when I have him freshly groomed people are too intimidated to come say hello, if they do its "oh can I touch him? I don't want to get him dirty!" I have to assure them it's ok :laugh:

Can't remember if I've posted in this thread or not but I know of a Belly Button, Bath Tub and Soap Dish. All three little white fluffies.

LOL. Barney is like Skeeter. Attacks you with kisses and toys. Or will woooooooo until you say something or cuddle him. This has made me realise that he doesn't supervise me on the toilet anymore (yay!) But he still has to sit right outside the shower door and then give you evils if you dare accidentally get water on him... OH calls him a pervert when he follows him to the shower :D. If I fall over and hurt myself I get 25kg of "help" hurled at me.

Found this thread as my parents have to now put Pippin on L/D. We haven't been able to get the dry so he's on the canned at the moment. Has anyone been able to find the dry since? Sorry to hear about your little girl jans .

Somehow she managed to get out of the cage. OH came home from work to get her as she loves him and usually goes straight to him but she wouldn't. Another bird swooped in and she took off, we're pretty sure the bird got her
