  1. 21 week old female BC, fit and healthy but keeps flopping down when on walks on a leash, at what approx age do they out grow this?? Cant figure out a reason other than sometimes she just cant be bothered but at the start she is really keen. The other night was the worse, within 75 metres she had flopped down 8 times, and just lies there looking up at you but as soon as you say "heel" and start walking she is straight up again.... At puppy training she can sometimes go the full hour without flopping and the trainer said it's because she's a pup she flops, it's like "I've had enough it's boring my attention is elswhere" She can play for ages in the back garden chasing and retrieving so I doubt it's a physical thing, is it possible she's rebelling against the discipline?....heel, back, close etc....or is it just normal puppy behaviour edit, She gets walked mainly at night so she might just be too tired lol
  2. I'm a member of the Southern Districts at Wheatsheaf Rd Morphett Vale which would be the closest to you, training on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings
  3. He learned all that in one week!!! at 7/8 weeks of age!!! Now I feel a failure
  4. I had a collie X that developed epilepsy at 2 years old till he died at 14. No idea what could trigger one but keeping him calm and avoiding loud unexpected noises that spooked him helped. We couldn't take him anywhere because when we took him outside he took a fit, but he was more than happy playing in the back garden and lived a healthy happy lfe, albeit different from normal. You just have to be careful when he is in one that there are no stairs or things he could injure himself on and when he is in one, leave him alone (but watch him) till he comes out of it, then make sure he has plenty of water readily avaliable. Medication can help greatly. Remember they are not in pain, they know nothing of what is happeneing but it is distressing for the owner and epilepsy will not kill him. Your dog seems mild, when mine took an attack it was full blown, went down, thrashed about, foamed at mouth etc. The actual "fit" only last seconds, the rest of the time is recovery from it and then it is like nothing happened. I agree with you that at this stage it is wait and see
  5. Thank you ellz, the breeder did say they were thinking of keeping it for breeding/showing. My mind is at rest
  6. First time poster so please excuse and move if in wrong area. I have been offered a pedigree puppy from a breeder but they tell me the papers haven't gone through yet, the puppy is 10 weeks old. Should I be concerned about buying it if the pedigree limited registration hasn't gone through yet? Does this happen often?, what happens if there is a problem registering it as a pedigree and I have already paid for it? I realise that realistically it doesn't really matter and I trust the breeder, but......... Thanks in advance for your advice.
