  1. Yep to me a true show dog should be bright, bouncey and bubbly, why would you want to take the edge off Use it to your advantage

  5. I am a landlord and I have found a good tenant will be a good even if they have pets and a bad tenant will be a bad tenant even if they don't have pets
  6. I agree with it being too much. My Sibes and Sams who all between 20 - 25 kiloish get one cup of dry plus either a few chicken wings or a carcass everyday. When my Sibe was on a diet she got half of that, and it took almost a six months for her to loose the 7 kilos she needed to. Whole carrots and apples are great, watermelons from the garden were also another great treat
  7. Pfft I have male dogs too and I dont whinge and complain when there are girls in season around. I just deal with it. What about the stud dogs that can tell a bitch is coming in 6 weeks before she does ! Am I supposed to leave her at home 6 weeks before she comes in as well ?? Hmmm I wonder how they cope at horse shows ?? !!! My Arabian girls get a break when they are in, I am too old to be hitting the deck because of a moody mare My second or third show ever was a small country show, I was the only one of the breed there and my dog was in junior at the time. Another exhibitor asked if she could set up beside me and of course I said yes. My dog was so naughty that day that I ended up in tears. In the group specials line up, he turned to the outside of the ring and barked and howled at what I though was my gazebo, it was horrible and we were dismissed from the line up. While we were packing up the lady who had set up beside me said 'suppose I had better get home and get this bitched mated' I don't have a problem with bitches who are in season being shown but ffs have some consideration, let people know, don't shove them in the face of any male and toilet them well away from everyone else.
  8. I agree, I live with a breed with an extremely high prey drive. I have no advice but I know how you feel. I had a seven year heeler that suddenly became aggressive. ;) to you ES ;)
  9. I love my vet too How very sad for you neighbour :D Poor Husky
  10. Bundy - Bear, Boo, Boof, Rumdog or a combination eg Bundy Boo or Boo Bear. Tikaani - Kaani, Kaanster, Tickles or you friggen bitch which is usually after she steals a frozen chicken thawing in the sink and is accompanied by a shoe being thrown in vain across the back yard because by that stage she is usually in the back paddock. Kamikaze - Kami, Kamster, Kaze, Witchy Poo or the Fun Police. Fergus - Fearless, Fungus Face or Squishy. Kato - Pup, pup, pup, pup, puppppppppppyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
  11. On a 40 + degree day mine is also the sort that can be found in the middle of the yard 'baking' while the Sams are tucked up inside under the air conditioner. My Sibe wears her bikini at this time of year so would not feel the heat anymore than a breed with a short coat We have a few clam pools but these are mainly used by the Sammy puppy for lots of splashing, water bowls are also good for this. Our last property had an in ground pool and our Sibe and our older Sam used to love swimming whatever the weather.
  12. I'm still so bad that they don't even bother bitching about me ;) ..................... yet ;)
  13. Haha the barking really wouldnt bother me its more my dad ;) but i worry about the heat with them and i also have a cat so i worry he wouldnt like my cat :S cause i see all these huskys in rescues that say they hate cats. My Sibe is fine with her 'cats' however strange cats, rabbits, rats, mice and birds are fair game. IF the Shiba has a similar prey drive to the Sibe you would have similar issues with a Shiba . She copes better with the heat than I do and it isn't unusual to find her sunbathing in the full sun on a 40+ degree day. They are however very vocal just like a Shiba so I really don't think your dad would be happy with either :D
  14. The cons of the Shiba that Cannibalgoldfish has posted above are pretty much identical for a Sibe just swap the scream for constant wuu wuus. So if I Sibe wouldn't suit you I highly doubt a Shiba would
  15. My response to them would of been "up yer kilt" :D What rude people :D Our only dog with a human name is our houseguest Fergus. Or Fearless Fergus (because he isn't) or Fergus the Fungus Face (because he has a stunning head). We also have Bundy, Tikaani, Kamikaze and Kato. My next girl will probably have a human name, I have four picked now to just narrow that down to one.
  16. Is it a Queensland company? We are multi million dollar company and had no computer systems, accounts, internet, email, phones, anything for a week nationwide because our server is in Rocklea and was under water. I can't imagine the trouble your average joe would have trying to get back online
  17. My boy Simba (Samoyed) has red stains on both sides of his muzzle that I think may be caused by him licking the area. However I don't see him do this very often so I'm unsure as to what is causing it. washing the area in whitening shampoo and combing the area have helped reduce the severity of it but I would like to get rid of it completely. Any ideas would be appreciated XXToughgirlXX My boy got staining around the mouth when he had the tear stains. Whats Simba eating? It was the high wheat content that set my boy off. I've recently switched his food from Supercoat large breed to Royal Canin Maxi Sensible. Due to the fact it is a premium food and has glucosamine and chondroitin which helps with his joint problems. But a wheat intolerance sounds interesting, I never considered that. XXToughgirlXX Bundy has the same staining and also staining under the lips, I have always put it down to the fact he is quite jowly whereas the other three aren't and they don't have the staining. He is fed a premium kibble and raw. He is also a licker, and will spend ages licking his knees and paws. He isn't a kennel dog infact if any of them are spoilt it is him, he gets prime spot on the couch and is the only one allowed in my bedroom I have believe it or not had some sucess with the papaya cream in the red tube, we are currently trying acv but if it isn't cleared up by the end of Feb, I am going to give Angel Eyes a try.
  18. When I went from one house to two, I went from feeding Proplan to Supercoat, it only took me a month to go back. I found I was feeding twice as much as what I was with Proplan and they started to look like crap definately wasn't worth any money saved We also feed chicken wings, I pay $30 for a ten kilo box and chicken carcasses or lamb flaps which hubby picks up from the supermarket as we need them. We have six dogs ranging from 20-25 kilos each who get a cup of dry food and either a carcass or 3ish wings everyday. The two bubbas also get a carcass in the morning for breaky. When I ever a get a chance to duck into Aldi or NQR I pick up tinned Sardines and the get these once or twice a week if I have them on hand. I think I pay about 2 dollars for four. Any left over fruit or vegies are divided among them and they help themselves to the fruit from the lower branches on the fruit trees. If we are home on the weekend, which doesn't happen often they get half a big juicy marrow bone each as a treat. I think we worked it out a couple of years ago and it cost about $2-3 per dog per day, nothing compared to my horses However the black hawk sounds interesting.
  19. Not going to get into a s**t fight about the rest as, IMO if someone doesn't want to be educated they won't be. Blue fawn is a red (fawn) dog with a blue overlay. If the dog didn't have the blue dilution gene it would be a red (fawn) dog with a black overlay. In Staffords this is called red smut. AFAIK no one has ever disproved the belief that this is the same as sable in other breeds and requires the tan-pattern gene to express itself. So a blue fawn is a tan pattern carrier at best, actually tan pattern at worst. Black and tan is not encouraged in the breed. I am aware of instances where red smut Staffords breed in the same expected ratios and colours as black and tan Staffords. Thanks Sandra, I am sure you have probably explained this a hundred times and feel like beating your head against a wall sometimes. After I had a rethink, I have to agree with your first line which is why I edited my posts
  20. Thanks TT but it isn't quite what I was looking for I am looking for something specific to SBTs, that isn't a thread on DOL Can cda affect all breeds of dogs that are blue, or is it only found in certain breeds. Could someone also please explain to me the genetics behind a blue fawn Thank you so much
  21. Hope this is the right place to put this I was wondering if anyone has any links to color dilution alopecia in Staffords.
  22. Minor in Show was the Samoyed "Aldonza My Man The Minder" ;) Sorry that is all I know He was also BOB and shortlisted in Group all at the tender age of 7 months :D He has only been with me since the start of January and is very difficult to handle, so I am one proud and shocked step mum :D :D
