I think I ditched my shoes at one point, whats the point when you are stacking your dog in a lake I'll answer with depends, if it is was a local show at Bulla with a local judge I would stay at home but if it was an international judge, a weekend away or a special show I would go, and yes I have a coated breed that takes hours to prepare and yes I would still be in a suit, shoes well it would depend :D

I have three entire males here and don't have a problem. However I would never, ever, go out and leave them running together. I can leave them in the yard for twelve hours and not have a problem but it is not worth the stress and worry of the what ifs.

Aldonza ET Be Good (AI) Puppy In Show :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D Kato was not expected to survive when he was 3 months old so to step back in the ring at the age 7 months old and get a RDCC with an entry of over 30 and then two weeks later get a Puppy In Show had his mummy howling in the carpark Sometimes the blood, sweat and teasr oh and the money is just so worth it :D :D

We use good old fashioned Velvet soap or Lux soap flakes. Occassionally if they are very grotty or stained I will used a whitening shampoo. Pet Network have some dog dryers on special for $250 at the moment.

Are you sure you have a "fantastic" male? Can you assess your dog honestly and objectively, with an experienced eye, pit him against the breed standard and say hand on heart that you have a fantastic male specimen of the breed, worthy of being shown, worthy of being bred from? Have you had a fresh, independent pair of eyes assess him? Maybe even a judge? Is he health tested, conformationally sound, of good temperament and is his pedigree worthy of continuing? Only when you know the faults can you progress "for the betterment of the breed". If the first thing you think about when looking to breed is what colour the bitch should be, then I suggest you do a hell of a lot more research before taking that next step. Colour is, as Sandra777 has said, utterly irrelevant and there are a lot more important issues to address first. Yes I totally agree with you and please excuse my ignorance as this is my first time into all things breeding, but we all have to start somwhere, ask dumb questions, and get abused by other breeders, we dont just evolve as top notch breeders first time round equipped with all the right knowledge and answers. Yes my male has been tested and cleared of herediatary diseases, and been reviewed by a family freind who is a long time show goer who has advised that in their opinion my male is as I said a "fantastic specimen" with all the right attributes. The only reason I asked about the colouring of the bitch was I had heard that crossing certain colours can have adverse effects on the offsrping such as dilution of colouring and other defects which I want to avoid (hence my statement of the betterment of the breed). Whether this is actually true or not it was meant as an inocent general question. Again I am sorry to have upset any of the established breeders as this wasnt my intention. I will direct all my questions now to my vetinerian and be guided by them instead of using this forum. Excuse my ignorance but isn't blue a dilute itself Oh come on. Not one person on here has been rude or unpleasent. In fact I believe its all been very helpful and informative. + 1 I don't have Staffords so very little advice but I think the best place to start would be the show ring :D I am not saying that you have to show to breed but the amount of knowledge a newbie can gain if they are willing to learn and go in with an open mind is amazing and it will also give you a general idea of how good your dog really is and what direction you would like to head in, in the future. I think my first dog is superb too and well he sorta is but he will not be bred from because even though he is a multi best in show winner, he is very correct, has fantastic movement and is very typical of the breed he isn't the type of dog I want to show and breed in the future. What are you future goals and plans, what direction do you want to go in. How will breeding your dog achieve these goals and plans. What will you be doing to improve the breed by breeding your dog in particular.

I had an entry on the bench a few weeks ago without a stamp on it which my lovely hubby posted for me It finally made it to the secretary and I had only paid for 5 entries not 6 Popped a cheque in the mail but maybe I should have sent a bribe/donation too. I have posted an entry to myself
-
Thanks Cowanbree I wasn't aware of that Not directed at Cowanbree but is it normal for a murmur to pop up between the age of 6 and 10 weeks or is it something the vet could have missed?? I suppose no-one can really answer those questions until the underlying cause is found?
-
Yeah RSG I do not agree with the breeding of blue Staffords but as I have been told by the breeder and her 'friends' "you have only been showing dogs for 4 years what would you know" Sorry Camo, I thought the breeder was aware of the murmur I really think it is important to see a specialist to determine the cause of the problem. I think the $150-200 will be money well spent on deciding not only what is the best thing to do with your bub but also how to proceed in regards to the breeder. What a heartbreaking and expensive experience, I really do feel for you There are many experienced and ethical Stafford breeders, owners and showies on here who will only be too willing to provide you with help

As far as I am aware the 'breeder' knew of the defect and sold the puppy to Camo without disclosing it to them, it wasn't until the puppy was at the vet that Camo became aware of the problem. Happy to be corrected if I am wrong. The breeder has offered to refund the $2500 purchase price (not the $1000+ in Vet fees already incurred in the last couple of months) if the puppy is returned where he will assessed and probably be pts. My head of course tells me return the puppy, there is no good outcome to this and only more heartbreak for Camo and her son in the future. Of course for a pet puppy buyer when you have poured your heart and soul into your dream puppy for two months and purchased from what you think is a registered ethical breeder it isn't quite that easy. My advice (and I have no experience with heart murmers) would be to take the puppy to a specialist and take the 'breeder' to the small claims court to recover all your expenses

Broken arm from falling over (yes while running in the house like I was not allowed to when I was a child ) my Mal and hitting the door jamb. My mum wouldn't let me ride my horse until I got the cast off, so I took it off myself. Got my arse kicked for that one I am waiting for the day I got head over heels in the ring, although I am sure the only thing that will be broken is my pride However that is nothing compared to my 'horse' injuries which have included, two broken legs, three broken ribs, a broken jaw, two broken arms including one that was pinned, plated and stapled back together, one broken hand, a broken foot, a broken norty finger, my four top teeth taken out and countless broken tootsies, concussions and bruises not to mention being knocked out for 45 minutes after a fall from a thoroughbred filly. Luckily for my litte red headed Arabs I love them lots @ claireybell

Our current state speciality show would attract around 80ish dogs per year. It is not unusual for there to be 15+ ausbred dogs and only 1 minor puppy. How does placing first when you are the only one in the class guarantee the dog is of championship quality?? I recently attended a speciality show in another state, 1 baby puppy bitch, 1 minor bitch, 1 puppy bitch, 1 junior bitch, 1 baby puppy dog, 1 minor puppy dog and 1 puppy dog. They just had to turn up to be place, how does that guarantee quality Numerically we are a strong breed the usual entry at any metro show is between 20 and 30 dogs, so no easy challenges in our breed. So following your system it would actually be easier for us to title a dog

Any news on Gus?

This. Good luck to Gus xoxo I would however be demanding xrays with one of my dogs or a known garbage disposal. A thorough abdominal check didn't show up my boys blockage and it was half a tennis ball so not something small.

Just a quick warning to all exhibitors to please keep your valuables under lock and key. A new exhibitor had her purse stolen and all the money in it taken. Thankfully another exhibitor found her purse with her cards still in there. So to the honest person who handed her purse into the secretarys office and to the scum who stole a single mothers money may the karma bus run you down
