Insert New Regulation 3.3.9 3.3.9 Pregnant Bitches
SnoPaws replied to SwaY's topic in General Dog Discussion
sorry but can I ask why? I am new to the world of dog and happy to be corrected but surely pregnant doesn't = invalid. Surely gentle exercise is better than no exercise for a pregnant bitch, I can understand not overdoing things but basically locking them up would be just as detrimental wouldn't it -
I have 3 Samoyeds and a Sibe (all entire, 3 bitches, 1 dog, I show) If a Sibe didn't get along with it's team mates it would be cut loose and left to starve to death, hence only those that were team members would be bred from. Back to my dogs, they all get along 99.999% of the time. One gets grumpy a week before she comes into season, don't blame her so do I, one can only be feed by herself, all are usually fed separately, but this one must be so, one I would never leave unsupervised with the pup, she isn't agressive at all just very full on and a little rough and I aren't prepared to risk an accident. So with good management I don't have any issues, fingers crossed just had a giggle, the one that gets grumpy before she comes into season, has to be fed separately and is a little rough is the same dog she must be the black sheep of the family

I bought one back in February Wouldn't bother, save your biccies and buy a real trolley. So many things have broken on it and it is very flimsy and wonky. I have come close to throwing it quite a few times

Congratulations LizT Here's to many more

I have been a horse lover, owner, breeder, shower and competitor for over 30 years. Would I eat horse meat, no, would I feed it to my dogs, no. Do I have a problem with others doing so, no, nor do I have a problem with slaughtering horses. What I have a problem with is the horrific conditions that horses have to endure in market yards, on stockcrates and trucks being transported to knackeries and at the knackeries themselves. Stallions, mares, gelding and foals all crammed into trucks together, many horses are killed or seriously injured on the journey to the slaughterhouse, then they are crammed into yards at the knackeries with no water or food for up to two weeks before being slaughtered. Horses with broken legs being left for days and weeks with no treatment because what is the use when they are going to have their heads chopped off in a week or so. Foals only a few weeks old ripped away from their mothers and being yarded with 500 kilo scared angry stallions. In excess of 50,000 horses are slaughtered in this country every year, with about half of all horses bred ending their lives therer. We have an over supply of horses in this country and I would much prefer that a horses life was to end humanely then for them to slowly starve to death in someones back paddock but it needs to be done in a humane way.

If the dog is a Sibe I wouldn't class it as cruel My Sibe has a very expensive bed which the cat sleeps in, she is also allowed on the couch but will only sleep there when we are not home and has a crate with a doona but she only goes in there when she is made to. Now to where she does sleep, in summer she likes our glass outdoor table on the balcony where she can survey 'her' kingdom, alongside the front door so she can catch the breeze, the slate in front of the fire place when it isn't going, the cold hard kitchen, bathroom, laundry or toilet floor and very occassionally she will try and sneak on the bed when we are both fast asleep. She also has her 'hole', our dogs have a large run separate from the back yard and other paddocks where they dig and do all the doggy things that I don't like them doing in my yard but which are so much fun. Her hole is now so big I am sure she is about to hit oil or water or something and the other dogs aren't allowed near her 'hole'. Now before you say you can see a pattern here, on Black Saturday when it was 500 degrees, from about 12 until 3, when we carted her off to mum's because of the embers falling on the roof, was spent sunbathing on the back lawn with all 4 legs in the air, while the other dogs were in the pool Ummm I've forgotten the point but anyhow maybe he likes 'his' towel

Poll- How Many Dogs And If You Work Full Time
SnoPaws replied to jazawayaya's topic in General Dog Discussion
I work 10 hour days and have between 3 and 5 at a time. I am lucky though because I don't leave the house until 9 and my partner is home by 2 then of course the kids start dribbling in from 3. We have land so they get a lot of exercise in the afternoon and they are all inside of an evening and night. Weekends are spent showing and doing doggy stuff -
How To Tidy Up The Endless Supply Of Doggy Stuff ...
SnoPaws replied to Tilly's topic in General Dog Discussion
TLC that is FABULOUS We are moving onto a small property in a couple of weeks and down one side we have a triple garage for the oh, massive bungalow for the teenagers, dog shed :D horse tack room and feed shed, stable, hay storage and then a smaller shed that will store all the garden stuff. Can't believe I will have a whole shed for the dogs with enough room for a table, bath, heaps of sheves, cupboards, crates everything, can't wait to set it all up ;) :D -

I'm starting to think that this is problem with Bundy's coat , maybe I need to get a new dryer

If he is only 6 months just be careful with too much exercise on growing joints. Sorry but imho getting him to carry weight isn't probably a good idea until he is older. As esky said mental stimulation can be just as tiring for a young dog.

I have used wool wash to wash the ponies with for about 30 years with no ill effects ....................... but what exactly is your reasoning for wanting to use eucalyptus oil, I'm sure someone would be able to suggest something better (fleas, allergies etc)

I have only been really been showing since December except for some members comps and our breed Championship Show. My first show was the Vic Champs where we got third in a class of about 10. That third place ribbon takes pride of place now with my In Groups sashes :p Yes I am sure that most seasoned showies would laugh but a hell of alot of blood, sweat and tears not to mention money and nerves went into that little white piece of satin Now I just want challenges and an in show award ;) Oh and a huge congrats LizT

Hi Kiesha I am really amazed at how good Bundys recall but then again I do have Sibes too I just have to yell Bund come, and he stops dead in his tracks and bounds over to me :p whereas the Sibe will just give you the finger ;) But yes I have definately spent alot of time with him making sure he has a solid recall, maybe it is the novelty factor of actually having a dog that responds to 'come' Would I ever let him off leash to go for a walk, never but that is just me, probably another symptom of having Sibes.

I am using Colormax at the moment with good results ;) What breed is she/he, I would be concerned if previously dark pigment had started to go pink

Oh it's another one of those Collingwood supporters ;)

Thanks Rob, very interesting lots of food for thought. Makes me a bit more motivated to go and get Bunds hips scored just out of curiosity

A score of 10 to me is fine, but you would always hope for lower, but it would not stop me. 20 IMO I would have 2nd and 3rd thoughts about using a dog with that score. The dog would have to be super fantasic, before you even think about it, and there is no super fantasic dogs around. As for a 4-1 score, you want each side as close as possible, but this score is still very acceptable due to its low score. In some parts of Europe it is a Grade A2, other parts a B. This score any breeder would be happy with. As for naming dogs and critasizing breeders and dogs on a public forum, I would advise be very careful, as it can open a can of worms. Now that I would agree with What about a score of say 6:10 Rob what you go ahead or would that be pushing it
-
Hey TG I would think 10 would be fine but 20 would be too high Just my opinion Who's dad if you don't mind me asking but maybe you should pm me
-
Correct my if I am wrong (which I usually am ) but shouldn't you also look for even scores on both side, or isn't the difference between 1:4 really relevant
-
You are superstars BBJ and Sway. Huge congratulations to my friends at Anaky, Kylie and Alan and also to Denise, Christine and Jac on from Kalaska ;) :D

If anyone has Samoyed results, you would make me an extremely happy person
