  1. Oh, oh ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww Nope I dont' care if you look look Miranda Kerr or Orlando Bloom NOBODY needs to see you lady or boy bits in the ring Even worse is the exhibitor who regularly goes away and wears the same slacks all weekend with no underwear underneath So back on topic my must have item is clean, good fitting underwear
  2. Mine is broken. Would love a spare that I can take to dog shows though if you know where to get them.... Plenty of people borrow mine. Maybe I could rent him out by the hour  I could do the same with mine I would have to say a well fitting sports bra, having lost 35 kilos and I swear most of that coming off my 'chest' I have had quite a few 'malfunctions' lately    Which leads me to another point - I am finding out that more and more people go commando, yes in the ring, when showing their dogs, while wearing nice skirt suits or nice pants. Am I just an old prude or does everyone else find this just ewwwwwwww
  3. I had a 3 1/2 month old fully vaccinated (last vaccine was given exactly 2 weeks before the show) puppy contract Parvo at his first show. Unfortunately it was one of those one in a million sheer bloody bad luck things. Thankfully I had the best ever vet and breeder to support me but it took 24 hourly round the clock nursing at the vet for two weeks and then at home for another two weeks at home for him to survive. Then probably another 4ish months of nursing to get him to full health again. It was one of the worst things I have been through. In my dogs case he most certainly isn't weak and I don't expect him to have a short life at all. Three and half months after contracting parvo he took his first Puppy In Show as a minor and now as a two year old he has taken multi class in shows, won a Royal bob and a rdcc at a speciality show. He is also is in training for his first 'performance' (shhh top secret) title...........but of course time will tell whether contracting parvo as a puppy has any long term effects. It makes me sick when I see 8, 10 week old puppies at a show for socialisation before they are FULLY vaccinated, my two current puppies weren't allowed anywhere until they were almost 4 months, even now at the age of 6 months they have both only been to a handful of shows and both have been out only a couple of times. Call me paranoid! Their is plenty of time for them. To say it only happens to ignorant people or those that don't care is very harsh.
  4. Hey SnoPaws OTEC has given us the date of 12 May 2013 :D conformation still has to come from DV in the way of the agenda Oh well that is fabulous for you and your club Murve!! I will definately be there with a Samoyed or two to support you :)
  5. Our National is end of June, so I really don't want to be doing a test for a month leading up to that, I am probably being over the top and I know the chances of my dogs getting an injury are pretty slim but I am still not going to risk it. May or July would be good, lol.
  6. Ohhhhh do you have a date yet Murve. I have to fit my two tests around our National and going to the US National next year.
  7. I just use a leash and have never had a problem. I really, really needed one last year  but sort of forgot about them and got used to just having the lead. I was concerned about being pulled off the bike to begin with but I have never really had a problem. We spend most of our time on the Warburton Trail and if I think we *might* have a problem, unruly dogs, horses, large packs of crazy cyclists, I just stop for a second and start off again when they have passed. I finally got my sash a few weeks ago too We are already training for next year, not that we ever stopped. Fergus the Samoyed has returned to the ring and has begun herding and Kami who was on maternal duties and Kato who was too young are already out 3 or 4 times a week for 6 - 8ks. Although we may have to reduce that if we ever get a Summer

    Samoyed

There is no entry fee ;) Judging starts at 8, we only have Mals and Dobes before us so we will be on by 9ish, however this show usually attracts an entry of over 50 Samoyeds so juding of just the Samoyeds will take a good hour. I am hoping to get there about 6 or 7 Maybe bring a chair, if you ask any of the Samoyed exhibitors where Jenny is they will be able to point me out. I have six dogs to get ready and will be having a small break down, lol, so I won't be able to talk to you much before judging. My guys love the clam pool. Biscuit it depends, Kami had biscuit ears as a bubba but is now pure white, Kato had biscuit ears and a great big spot on his side, as he gets older he is getting alot of biscuit through his ruff.

    Samoyed

All Samoyeds have one black hair, it can be hard to find but it will be there but yes there have been no black samoyeds for a long time. The colors are 'white', 'cream' & 'white & biscuit'. Kato is biscuit and white, he has biscuit rimmed ears, a large spot on his side and as he is getting older more biscuit through his ruff. His brother Telly & Rider and mother Chez are also biscuit and white. Chez is the mother of Pan who is the sire of the litter above including Bjels Dante. Some of the Airebis dogs are also heavily biscuit shaded. Bundy swims all the time and I don't have a problem with matts or tangles, I have more of a problem with keeping him out of the bloody water. Kami and Fergus have no interest in water at all, Kato loves the wading pool, usually at about 3 o'clock in the morning in the middle of winter when it is -2 and the puppies are also discovering the joy of the wading pool and swimming in the water bowls. It depends entirely on the dog.

    Samoyed

We will be at "The Park" (Skye) on Saturday evening and on Sunday with 4 Samoyeds and at Sunbury the following Monday and Cup Day with 10 or 11 if you want to come and say hi :) Sunbury usually attracts an entry of 50+ Samoyeds if you would like to talk to a variety of breeders and exhibitors.
  11. The Greys were gorgeous!! Given I know nothing about what Greyhounds should actually look like but you should be so proud of having such sound, good moving dogs Proud of my kids with my 'Guy' taking BIG 6 on the first day from a lovely line up of dogs. All up we came home with 4 DCC, 4 RDCC, 3 BOB, 3 RUBOB, a BIG, Open In Group and Inter In Group. Love these grounds, the rings are just fabulous as are the committee.

    Samoyed

Welcome to the wonderful if somewhat crazy world of Samoyeds RM  Can I ask whereabouts you are located and what breeder you have chosen.
  13. If it is the same as last year we set up in the stables, 'we' will be down there late Thursday afternoon setting up :)
  14. That made me lol, who is sleeping on the bed CC or Ziggy!! Well I wussed out and let Mr SnoPaws ride the test, I am still so sick and am still without much of a voice but I think he did a pretty good job with my boy. Congrats to Murve and her Pap, Sir Sniffalot and Bobo and CC (and BB) and Ziggy. I have a few photos and will pop them up on facebook in the next couple of days (hopefully), feel free to steal any you desire. Big thanks to the GSDCV!! We will be back next year with two more, Kami who is on maternity duties and Kato who has just turned 18 months if anyone wants to join us
  15. Thanks Guys I was going to come Monday night and bring the naughy, naked junior with me, he won BOB at Sydney Royal but all of a sudden has decided that judges are 'the' scariest thing ever! Hopefully with numbers low like that it might be the ideal place to do some training with as little stress as possible Unfortunately with Samoyeds you do need to actually bath them for a show or comp () and with the ET on Saturday, and working 10 hours days since I just didn't have time. I will make sure I come next month! Someone remind me beforehand and I will bring the tea and coffee :D Beth I think I know you, do you have a teenage daughter, if you do she has shown my dogs before in handlers.
  16. Beth can you tell me how many dogs were in Group6 and how many in the comp please............
  17. Sorry Murve, I was on the couch all weekend with, with THE MAN FLU I was actually coughing so much I put my back out and had to go and see my back man, gawd I hate getting old   In better news, Fergus went out for a test run. 10ks out, 20 minute break for lunch and 10ks back home, very happy with how he is travelling. The forecast is looking quite chilly for next Saturday!!
  18. Hi Sno Paws I will be at the Park Sun morn, for Obed training with Westernport club, by the way do you realize there will be shows on there both Sat & Sun so it will be a bit hard to do some bike training with cars & trailers everywhere Yep I know, I have four entered myself :) I wasn't planning on bringing the bike, just wondering if anyone who had already done the test would be happy to go over the willingness test quickly with me.
  19. Okay   Is 20ish a good entry?
  20. We are all the way out in the Yarra Valley so a bit far for a practice  but thank you for the offer! We have our medical tonight in an hour Really happy with the 'boy', I was a bit worried he was getting a bit sluggish so took him out with another dog and lets say it made all the difference I suppose doing 10 ks a day at a hard fast trot along the same path gets a bit boring. We encounterd bridges, countless bikes, horses, and dogs and he just puts his head down and goes. We have been going out wind, rain, hail and snow Suppose you will never know what the weather will bring in a couple of weeks. I am very happy with him. Still a bit stressed about 'the test' but what do you do. Is anyone going to be at the Park on the weekend who would be happy to go through it with me? I will make sure I bring some wine and the camera
  21.   A list would be great for us newbies :) I also have my medical form We are up to about 8-10ks at about 12ks an hour 5 times a day. I know he is fit enough, cheeky thing isn't even panting after that. I am still worried about the 'willingness' test, I have only taught him to sit this week and well he isn't the brightest spark in the shed!! Go the little dogs!! It is one thing doing it with a fit, healthy Sam but you little dog owners deserve an extra big medal
  22. I am starting to actually get nervous!! I think it is the unknown because we have never done one before and I don't know anyone else that has, so I am not sure what to expect.
