Dog Wanted- Male Working Breed Mix Vic
S09 replied to Cosmolo's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Would Animal Aid at Coldstream be within the criteria? They have Steve, a 4yo Kelpie x. "This good looking boy is hoping to find an active home to join. He loves to play ball, go for walks and have cuddles with the family. Steve would make a fantastic walking or jogging companion, and he can't wait to meet his new family!" Website -

From a searcher's viewpoint PR now reminds me very much of American adopt-a-pet type sites. If you're searching within a particular rescue group's pages, the photos are tiny, which isn't too bad if the group doesn't have pages and pages to go through, but many do (e.g. Save Our Strays). The breed name is also cut-off on a group's page, e.g. one group has a listing's breed truncated to "Miniature P", another "Pure Bred G". I hope this is constructive criticism as it's not meant to be anything else. I've been trying to get used to the new site, but my main thought has been I sure hope they didn't pay out megabucks to a professional site designer because it doesn't appear to be well set out. A bit of Googling and it seems to be a company called The Frontier Group. I have to wonder if they understood the brief as it doesn't seem they are ofay with an adopt-an-animal style website and what should take precedence. Although I know it's PR's policy not to be able to search for a particular breed, I still feel it'd be useful to be able to separate dogs from cats, which isn't possible within a rescue group's page. This has always been the case though.

It's all so simple... if there's an anomaly, check it against HP's own website. That's what I do. -
Seeking Young Adult Female Boxer

Save-A-Dog at Glen Iris have a couple. There's an 18mth old called Lexie that they'd like to go to a home with another dog to help her confidence. They also have another 18mth female called Salada. Both are cross breeds though. http://www.saveadog.org.au/dogs/dogs_medlarge.asp -
Are Some Things Better Left To The Pros?
S09 replied to a topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
On Pound Rounds' FB page, doesn't it say that they're a group of volunteers who take photos of the animals at BP and HP? So why can't they simply use their own photos that they state they take? It just doesn't make sense. It's so unwarranted to scream and shout that Pound List are the cause of animals dying because they don't want their photos reproduced - it's asinine because there are other photos available that Pound Rounds could use, i.e. both Blacktown and Hawkesbury pounds have public websites with photos. Why can't they use those instead? It doesn't add up. -

With children and dogs paying the price. Brilliant! Are the pounds still happily supporting this group? -
Tammy The 19yo Kelpie X From Canterbury Pound
S09 replied to Cazstaff's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Thanks so much for posting photos!!! I've been busting to see and hear how she went after being picked up, but I didn't want to push my luck asking for pics. I thought you'd post some when you got around to it. Thanks for saving her and letting her live out the rest of her days in that lovely grassy yard. And ditto to what dogmad said about not leaving such an oldie alone with the pack. Other than that, I'm sure she'll have you wrapped around her finger in no time (although that may've happened already!). And I forgot to say in the urgent thread - thanks for getting her out of the pound so quickly!
