^^This. Mine had it with his 12 week C5 and again, though more severe, with the 16 week C5. Each time they took well over a month to go down. 12 month booster he was given an anti-hystamine 30 minutes prior followed by a C3 only. No reaction to this one. As a result I will not be vaccinating yearly, nor will I use anything above a C3. Do a search on vaccinations, this has been discussed a few times and you should be able find a fair amount of info

NOT a good idea! Your best bet is either to pen off an area for him if he is left outside alone (alternatively you could pen off the rocks/bark but that may be more difficult), or keep him on leash when outside until he outgrows it. You can buy bitter spray which may deter him - similar to this: http://www.vetnpetdirect.com.au/Stay_Away_Bitter_Tasting_Chew_Deterrent?sc=9&category=162638. It's available from most supermarkets and vets. Doesn't work for all dogs but it's reaonably cheap and may be worth a shot?

Get a crate. Most 9 week old puppies can't hold through the night and will need to be taken out several times when they wake. Most puppies will toilet all over your house if given the opportunity to do so and it's not something you want them to practice. Puppy needs to be in a crate, on leash, or supervised 100% of the time and taken out regularly. If you want him to go in the yard take him there, if you want him to go on a puppy pad take him to that. Don't leave him to his own devices and expect that he will figure it out. Keep in mind that some puppies will go two or three times before they are done too.

Friend Is Determined On Getting A Puppy That Is For Free
Red Fox replied to haylz27's topic in General Dog Discussion
I know of someone who bought a $50 GSD pup. Turned out to be a nice dog, also turned out not to be a GSD . -
Try here: http://waggle.com.au/harnesses-m5/dog-car-restraints-c7 The PetBuckle harness is crash tested and has no plastic buckles, it has a proper seatbelt clip instead. The Roadie harness has no buckles at all and is also crash tested, not sure where to buy them from though? http://www.ruffrider.com/ Or this one is similar to the pic you posted of puppy Pele (and it's red). http://www.worldforpets.com.au/products/product_detail.asp?ID=2789

Don't The Rules Apply To You Or Something?
Red Fox replied to Maxiewolf's topic in General Dog Discussion
Why would I respect the opinion of somebody that doesn't want dogs in their vicinity? Would you respect my opinion that I don't want people's children near me? I understand that I have to obey the requests of shopping centre management, or risk never being allowed back in K-Mart again, but there is no respect there. I do think dogs should be allowed anywhere except for food preparation areas, and only dogs that are inadequately controlled be asked to leave. My dog won't affect you, and so it is irrational for you to demand I don't have it near you. what about people that are allergic? Well I'm sure those people would be just as allergic to guide dogs, or dog owners who are covered in dog hair (both allowed in shops BTW), or dogs they pass in the street.... -
I've never had a "fight for dominance" amongst my dogs. Sure they have had conflicts from time to time but never a mark on anyone and all quickly stopped. My advice? Don't fret over what might never happen. Observe your dogs and manage them based on what you see, not what someone told you might happen. ...actually I think I need to print this off and stick it to my forehead for future reference

Hey Steve, tried to PM you but your inbox is full. I'll ask here instead - would it be okay for me to purchase a small fabric panel online and have it posted directly to you? It wouldn't be pre-washed or pre-cut to size though... There aren't any fabric stores in my town -
Don't The Rules Apply To You Or Something?
Red Fox replied to Maxiewolf's topic in General Dog Discussion
Try doing that with a larger dog. It bothers me that a puppy or toy breed is welcomed in many public places yet a large, well trained adult dog is not. A dog is a dog and the rules should be the same for all. People should mind their own business. If it was a cool day and the dog was not distressed then what's the problem? I most certainly wouldn't leave my dog in the car with the windows down. What if some idiot stuck their hand in and got bitten? And we all know who would get the blame then.... -
A dog who is over threshhold (over excited) won't take food. The trick is to work your dog under threshhold. Which means to place enough distance between her and the distraction (other dogs) to allow her to think/not react. That may be 5m or it may be more like 50m+. If she's still bouncing around ignoring you then you need to move further away. Keep the reward rate high and make it exciting! - let her chase and catch the treat rather than just shoving it in her mouth, lots of praise etc. Work on building her focus on you then once you have that you can very slowly start to close the distance. It may take a while. I'd also work on neutralising her to other dogs/pups, rather than teaching her that play with dogs is THE best thing ever. You can do that by only letting her interact with calm adult dogs who will mostly ignore her. (She can still play from time to time - just be very selective who it's with).

Have a look at this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWQLfq7tpVE and get youself a copy of this book: http://www.cleanrun.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=2502&ParentCat=449 Soooooo much better than the Dunbar book IMO. Less complicated, more balanced and very easy to follow (and no it's not just for competition/sporting dogs). Cleanrun has it on free shipping at the moment too.

LOL Perse, I just had visions of dogs using the roof as a trampoline

Yep, I was wondering how it would keep the rain out too. I've been planning on buying one but saw today that Cheap as Chips have rectangular shade sails out for $25. If they are pretty much the same thing (material wise) I may as well save myself a few $$. My dog run has a weld mesh roof so no worries about the dog getting to it

Does anyone here have a nylon shade cover for their dog run (as per the link below). http://shop.vebopet.com.au/store/2-metre-single-dog-run-shade-cover-2.html Are they any different to a normal shade sail? Does "wind and rain proof" mean that the cover will resist rain and wind to a degree or does that mean complete protection from wind and rain? Also interested to know if anyone has tried out these - 90cm by 30cm Plastic Floor Board for Outdoor Dog runs / play pens: http://shop.vebopet.com.au/store/plastic-floor-boards-for-dog-run-play-pen.html Thanks

And who is to say that the relative of the child didn't panick, snatch up the kid and take off?

What Shampoo Is Best For An Itchy Dog?
Red Fox replied to PuddleDuck's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I prefer Paw Nutriderm, no scent and it's very gentle. Aloveen makes my skin all dry and flaky -
Destroying couches is fun, much more so than chomping on toys that are 'allowed'. If you don't want it shredded then don't allow the dog access....;) Either pen the dog away from the couch or pen the couch area off from the dog.

Try here: http://www.k9pro.com.au/categories/Long-Lines/ I use the 15ft gripper on my Ridgeback and wouldn't trust anything else. Very light, doesn't hold water and end up heavy, smelly or covered in grass, easy to hold and doesn't slide and twist in your hands (rope burn hurts!). The cheaper lunge lines won't hold up for a larger, stronger dog.

Yep, my 7am morning walk is fast turning into an 11am one We usually do two walks per day - morning for the dogs sanity and afternoon for mine. I do prefer early morning walks when I can get motivated though.

There are some long haried pups in the puppy listings on the main page here (VIC) http://www.dogzonlin...s/dachshund.asp No idea what CF means sorry...

More than a dozen dogs in England have mysteriously collapsed and died in similar circumstances after they were taken for a walk along a popular country pathway. Three pets were left seriously ill, and 13 dogs have died last week after they were walked down a footpath in the Cross Hills, North Yorkshire, the <A href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1392352/Police-probe-13-dogs-poisoned-death-country-footpath.html#ixzz1NrdLS4Jm">Daily Mail reports. Some owners said their dogs keeled over within 10 minutes of returning from their walk. They began frothing at the mouth and convulsing. The RSPCA said the dogs' symptoms suggested they had been poisoned. Authorities have cordoned off the footpath while they conduct their investigation. RSPCA Animal welfare officer Sally Ramsden told the Mail they had not ruled out the possibility the dogs were being deliberately targeted. Dog owners are warning other walkers through Facebook and Twitter to stay away from the path until further notice.

Probably Been Loads Of Threads About This But
Red Fox replied to frenzied1's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
You can buy Melrose Omega Pet oil from most health food shops (or online) which has a balanced ratio of Omega 3 & 6 http://www.melrosehealth.com.au/health_products/Healthy_Pet_Care.aspx If the only problem you are having with the cheaper food is dry coats I'd stick to that, add some omega oils, whole eggs and sardines here and there and bulk it all up with cheap RMBs for the dogs that can handle them. -
Sounds like a difficult situation all round. Personally I'd get the dog to a vet for a diagnosis and your mate to a doctor for referal to a counseller. In the long run it could be more difficult for him to watch his dog go downhill than to deal with it now...
