Thank you. It does show their personalities quite well! And your boy Zeph has a lovely smile too :-) -

I wonder which is which?  A picture tells a thousand words ;-) He is agile, strong, sensitive, loyal and likes his alone time. Doesn't like to be touched too much but likes to be close to those he loves. She is fast, hyper and slightly neurotic. Likes to always be on the move and ready to take a bite out of anyone that rubs her up the wrong way, but has such a gentle side for her people. Both imperfect, but perfect for me. -

Chalk and cheese to each other - One like Eeyore and the other like a Tassie Devil on crack. But both have personality traits just like their owner... My dogs -
Curash baby powder. My male had issues with this when his Suprelorin wore off. The Curash is fast, cheap and very effective. Also stops them licking the area and making it worse.

Mendota do lightweight 50ft/15m lines, pets providore sell them at a reasonable price: 3/8" wide http://www.petsprovidore.com.au/leash-training-mendota.html and 1/2" wide http://www.petsprovidore.com.au/super-cord-mendota.html

20km would be a very fast sprint. Are you sure you want/need to go that fast? The dogs should really be jogging on the treadmill as opposed to running/sprinting for long distances.

The seller is very good, I have purchased from her and am extremely happy with both product and service.

Run an internal fence approx 70cm from the existing fence along the side where the kids are. Star droppers and mesh, you can also attach some 6ft bamboo screening to that if need be for height/privacy or to make it look nicer. The internal fence is too far from the existing fence for the kids to jump both at once and too high and flimsy for them to climb. Worked for us, cost about $10 per metre to set up. Also keeps your dogs away from the fence line and prevents fence fighting with neighboring dogs and/or digging under if your dogs are that way inclined.

For Those That Have Used The Suprelorin Implant
Red Fox replied to OSoSwift's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
For us it has been approx 19-20 months. 38-40kg dog done at the beginning of November 2012. However that is going on observation alone - not testing. ETA, I prefer my boy entire too as he has a lot more energy. Unfortunately I have a female that cycles 4-5 monthly so it will really depend on how much this stresses him out as to whether I have him done again. (he was given the first implant prior to her first season and has never shown any interest before). -
Thank you R&B. And best of luck getting another QLD club up and running.

For Those That Have Used The Suprelorin Implant

Did the behaviour settle over time? Behaving like an entire dog is expected, but he's much more full on that prior to the implant. Or maybe I have just forgotten -
For Those That Have Used The Suprelorin Implant
Red Fox replied to OSoSwift's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Has anyone noticed a surge in hormones as the implant wears off? I have a male that was given a 6 month implant at approx 3.5 years, followed up with a 12 month implant approx 7 months after the first. He is now 18 months post the 12 month implant, testicles have returned to their normal size and he's behaving like a teenage boy! Overly interested in my female (who is not in season), marking, mounting, pushing boundaries, increased energy levels and just generally obnoxious. It's a very noticeable contrast in his behaviour compared to what it was only a month ago or even prior to the suprelorin. Just wondering if this is 'normal'? On a more positive note his muscle tone is returning to normal. Over the past 12 months he had become quite 'soft' in muscle and was putting on weight even after cutting his daily food intake by over 30% which had been a concern. ETA, the dog is now close to 6 years old -

IPO is open all breeds, Belgians or not.

I've been following him on Facebook, his owner is doing a great job with him! My dog is doing well thank you, I've had a bit of a break from training lately but hoping to get back into it for an IPO1 title soon enough. Here she is in May last year during our BH trial. Passed BH that day and she got her TR1 pass the following morning

Got mine from an Aussie seller for a very reasonable price. Similar in style to the Fitfurlife but a good deal less expensive. This one has incline and multiple preset programs (there are also bigger models/models with more features available but this one suits us fine). We've had it for about two months now and so far very happy with it.

Dildei is a little outdated, but Balabanov's DVD's are still very relevant. Get on you-tube and have a look for anything with Bart Bellon. Michael Ellis is good value for the all basics, Leerburg have plenty of free vids available http://leerburg.com/flix/category.php?categoryid=10 Plenty of good reading material out there as well. (PM me if you're interested and I can go through my book list and see what's worth reading..) But you'd really want to start with this: http://www.schutzhundaustralia.com/pdf/trialrules.pdf On top of all that there are a shitload of international trainers coming out to Australia this year and next for seminars including; Knut Fuchs, Mario Verslype, Peter Scherke, Floriann Knabl, Forrest Micke, Uta Bindles and Tobias Oleynik. So plenty of info out there for anyone with an interest in the sport. Good luck!

No you do not need to vaccinate every year, no you do not need to give a C5, yes vaccinations can have side effects. "The Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) believes that in most cases, core vaccines need not be administered any more frequently than triennially and that even less frequent vaccination may be considered appropriate if an individual animal’s circumstances warrant it." http://www.ava.com.au/sites/default/files/documents/Other/AVA_vaccination_policy.pdf

No reason why you can't train for a BH on your own, as well as obedience 1-3 and tracking titles. Character work is a little more difficult without and experienced helper but you can still teach a lot of the basics alone (targeting, blind search, hold and bark, transports, etc can all be taught without a helper). If you want to trial you'll need to join a club and apply for your sportspass and scorebook. Gold Coast (or even Darwin) is probably going to be your closest. The Schutzhund Australia IPO Nationals are being held on the Gold Coast this year on the 19th/20th July. May be worth getting down there if you are interested. rusty&biscuit; if that's the dog I'm thinking of (Udo) I own a female from the same litter

K9 Magic don't have any in stock at the moment. Have purchased one from Mumof4Girls website. Thanks again

Whelping Supplies did a few years ago. Checked there first but they don't have them now. Apparently imported antlers must be heat and/or chemically treated, so if they are imported I suppose that could be why they splinter? The ones I bought from eBay were from NZ and not treated, so probably just too small for my dog. Should have checked size with the seller first but just assumed that 'large' would be large.
-
That's where I bought the last lot from. My 26kg Mal was able to shatter a large split antler to pieces in under an hour. Need something bigger...
-
Does anyone know where I can purchase antler chews (split or whole) for large dogs. I'm looking for something at least 30cm long but can't find anywhere that currently has them in stock. If not available in Australia can they be purchased from overseas? Thanks
