I didn't read the PDS, but am going by the tick chart they give with the different levels of cover. Age limits: Bronze (accident only) 8 weeks and over (no upper age limit) Silver (accident + illness) 8 weeks up to 9 years Gold (accident + illness + routine care) 8 weeks up to 9 years http://www.medibank.com.au/pet-insurance/medibank-cover-options/

There are a multitude of uses for a muzzle beyond aggression.

Go a nice deep red based black then :D Sorry, so OT now

Do you mean what colour I use? Not sure sorry, it's something out of my hairdresser's bag of magic tricks Ask for the colour base and shade number (sorry I can't remember the right name atm ) and you'll be able to match it up to any brand. It will be a decimal number like 5.3 or something ;)

I contacted them a few years back and couldn't even get a PDS, not sure how good they would be at paying up if they weren't capable of something so small as emailing a document..? I'll check out Prosure and Medibank too. For now I've gone with PIA for the pup. It's still too pricey but it will do until we can find something more suitable. They have always been great with claims so it's a real shame about the chance in policy. ETA Medibank works out to $3 cheaper per month for both dogs, less coverage and only covers up until 9 years of age so that's out for me. Prosure is around $8 cheaper for both and has no excess...

Poor guy Poor dog. Yes this.

errrrrr..... I haven't taught her a lot yet. I was planning on following the Michael Ellis stuff and building up a nice level of engagement before sweating the small stuff. Turns out that focussing on me is not her strong point so far lol, way too much going on in the world. Hmmmm perhaps she was planning on driving tonight when I found her attached to the deck chair I was attempting to put in the boot Really??? I think I'm starting to get an idea and I'm thinking I'll just stick to SK's updates of Elka - and save my hands Yep, that sounds about right! Nice pics of Rogue too Nekhbet

cleanrun.com have the everlasting treat bento balls on free post right now - $12 each ;) You could try roo or beef tendons, dried bones or antlers. Most pet food stores sell these, if you wantd antlers there is a thread in the marketplace. I've seen packets of dried beef tendons in IGA recently too. Tug-a-jugs are good also, or even just treats shoved in a plastic bottle or toilet roll with the ends sealed up.

My older dog gets done every 6-8 weeks, could go longer on all but the dew claws however I prefer to keep them short. His back feet get trimmed every second time. He hates having it done and I hate doing it but no, I wouldn't pay someone else - I think he'd take their head off if they tried! He had a not so nice experience with a 'groomer' at puppy preschool which affected him badly.. Did the pup last night, not that she needed it but thought it was best to get her used to the nail clippers. She wasn't fussed at all but wriggled and I cut a quick Luckily (or not) she didn't seem to notice and proceeded to spread blood all over the loungeroom floor. I had to get the husband to shove a rag in her mouth and keep her busy so I could stem the bleeding. I reckon we may need to invest in a little pair of scissors for her for the time being!

I reckon Elka would just see a sheep as a giant tug toy.

Well it's been 3 days and so far so good. I'm still keeping a very close eye on her, rechecking her all over several times per day and had another check up this morning with my regular vet, but looks like she will be okay. Very lucky that we got to it early!

Good to know. So far she's more interested biting and rolling around to care about pats... or my yummy treats We did another school run this morning, the kids were good but started to get a little too excited towards the end so scooped her up and off we went. Elka was relatively unphased and would have rathered another romp around the school grounds instead. gsdog2, two of Elka's litter brothers went off to RAAF on the weekend too.:D Nekhbet, I heard about Rogues little episode with her breeder Ahhhhhh I'm not looking forward to these fear periods and hormonal bitchiness!

Thank you. To be honest she's so much easier then my older dog was as a pup. She's higher energy and completely mental but she's happy to be left alone, settles well in her crate and has practically toilet trained herself in a couple of days. Such a time waster though, half my day is lost watching her just be a puppy! I'll have a look into Pet Plan this week too.
-
I spoke to them today. All plans with 100% cover will 'migrate' to the new 80% cover when your policy runs out. And premiums have still gone up. Premiums are now breed based too, the bigger (and I presume older) the dog the higher the cost. Looking at different policies though it seems that most that are underwritten by Hollard hsve the same terms and conditions. Woolworths PDS reads almost identical to PIA. I'll stay with them for now but will certainly be looking for something better before my policy expires in November. I've added the new pup as there's a two week cooling off period anyway... Better safe than sorry.

Neutral is my aim for sure. I suppose my concern is not just creating an overly positive value, but that the pup might have a bad experience given that you can't control the stupidity of others (and kiddies are just unpredictable). She had a pat from a couple of kids today, one at a time and nice and gentle.

Hope the harness and collars are good for sizing and enough adjustment in them. Yes, they are great Thank you.
-
hehe, took her for a drive to the school today and she's knackered now. Speaking of, what are your thoughts on working/sport dogs interacting with kids? Expose them to the kiddies but no touching? Or allow a pat here and there without overwhelming the pup? Seems to be a lot of different opinions on this..
-
Yep. Mine too Woolworths Pet Insurance does work out cheaper: $35.84 for my 3 year old Ridgeback and $31.55 fro my Malinois pup. Not sure how good they are with claims and cover though?? and haven't had time to read the PDS yet.
-
Any suggestions for decent pet insurance? PIA has put my three year old Ridgebacks costs up from around $30 three years ago to $43 this year. They have also changed from 100% cover (minus the excess) to 80%. Looks like it will just keep going up and up. I'm happy to spend up to $35 per dog per month. Looking for full comprehensive accident and illness cover with a $100 excess and a minimum of 80% cover. Thanks

Jeez the more I flail the more this one wants to eat me.

You need to move to SA.;)

The vet did have some but apparently it's not suitable for young pups.
