  1. Thanks Tralee. How would I set this up?
  2. Hello fellow breeders. Can anyone please enlighten me as to how breeders are able to offer a free pet insurance when they place their babies? I've seen puppies advertised with free 6 weeks of insurance etc, and would love to be able to offer it with my own. Would love any information, thankyou. :)
  3. Use and love my pupkus force 2. ETA: Matnewf; I have Australian Shepherds (double coated like a newfie) and I dry them with my pupkus force 2. I've also used it with success on a Saint Bernard who stayed with us for a couple of months.
  4. what do you put in your whelping box before the bitch has her puppies? - I take out the pig rails and lay down a cut of Vetbed to size. Then I put her normal bed in there which takes up 2/3 of the area. What do you have in the box while bitch is whelping? - I take out the bed, replace with fresh clean vet bedding and have a million towels on hand. I'll turn on the heated floor and the corner heat lamp at this stage. What do you have in box once pups have arrived? - I replace the vet bedding again, and change it every 24-72 hours.
  5. I have a few different vets that I like to use for different things, due to location and their specialties. For general things like vaccinations and checkups, or emergencies; I like to use my longtime vet who my family has always used. He is about 8kms from home. For ultrasounds I use a vet in the next town because their machine can print and save images. He is 75kms from home. For Hip and Elbow Xrays, semen collections, surgical inseminations etc, I like to use a vet closer to Adelaide. He is 350kms from home. For CERF eye screening on my adults and puppies aged between 6 and 8 weeks I use a vet within Adelaide He is 390kms from home.
  6. Australian Shepherds are my favourites, followed by an assortment of breeds including newfoundlands, corgis, shetland sheepdogs, greyhounds and tibetan mastiffs. Staffords are my least favourite, followed closely by "designer" breeds.
  7. Currently I am aware only of the breed clubs in Vic and NSW, though SA has mentioned starting their own also. You can certainly join from interstate though Tumbleweed. Thanks Parkeyre! Does your Aussie have to be on limited/main register to join? I have a purebred Aussie but from 2 limited register parents (long story...she is a 'semi-rescue', as was being sold by a BYB as a 'potential breeding dog' at 4 1/2 months ). She is now a desexed beloved pet, and we have started trialling in obedience and hopefully will be starting agility in the not too distance future. I was interested in joining a breed club for a bit more info on Aussies and training/trialling them etc. Reading your situation; I do think you'd be fine. I don't think it is a requirement to even own an Aussie. Maybe give them a call/email and have a chat about it. :)
  8. It is. Breeding a Merle Aussie to another Merle Aussie gives every single puppy in a resultant litter a huge 25% chance of being a double (defective) Merled white (homozygous whites). These puppies normally have sight and hearing impairments, and can have defective organs. If breeders wish to breed Merle to Merle, they are running a 25% chance of each puppy having life altering problems.

  10. Australian Shepherds carry a gene that presents puppies with a natural bob tail. Our last litter of seven had 6 bob tails and 1 full tail. If you feel a puppy has been docked and not born naturally bobbed; check the tail end for scarring or request a $60 DNA certification for the NBT gene.
  11. Ok. Thanks. :) I have Puppy Gold, so will order more. :)
  12. I have emailed to ask for you as there is nothing about it on the container. *poke* Any luck yet Sway? :)
  13. She's hilarious, but terribly annoying. Camera comes out and there she is, sitting, grinning and butt wiggling.
  14. About to head off to take the dogs and the camera to the park now that the weather is kinder. I took this photo indoors on the Auto Function without flash. I have a LOT to learn lol.

  22. It's still in the box because it's been raining and I'd really like to try it out on the dogs at the park or something first. :) I'm off to Adelaide tomorrow so will have a look around some camera shops (if there are any around) and see about these "filters" you suggested. :)
  23. Sorry yes, it's a 1.8. My bad. Oh thank goodness. it was a fair penny to buy and didnt know if I was heading in the right direction as a complete newbie. I am good at iphone photography! lol! Filters?? What are these?? :D
