  1. Clearun, Keelambara and Shadebush; all three are Australian Shepherd Breeders
  2. how about lots of chicken wings treats very fatty
  3. necks i am fairly sure have less fat then drums, carcassus(sp?), etc. wings are the fattest.. the tips are pretty much just fat. I think Bonnie is pretty much ideal atm. that's how i would have her.
  4. DDs are what the general public call designer dogs. DDs are crossbreds, mutts, mongrels. etc.
  5. I'll be in adelaide on the 1st and 2nd. Hoping to pick up some Proplan, it is easier then posting 400kms. If anyone could please keep this thread updated on cheap proplan in Adelaide; that would SERIOUSLY rock!

    Snoopy

    Rest in peace beautiful boy.
  8. I'll answer your questions to the best of my abilities as a Aussie Owner. I don't do any herding or breeding and haven't been involved with the breed for too long. What are they like temperment wise compared to other working dogs (BC / Kelpie / Cattle Dog in particular) My two aussies have different personalities. One is VERY laid back and could be mistaken for an overgrown ragdoll cat. He is very much a love bug and a calm relaxed boy. The other is my bitch who is very driven to please. She is energetic, and does need to be stimulated mentally and phyically alot more then my male. However; I previously had a border collie that I loved dearly, who was from working lines and I've found my aussies to be much easier to live with temperment wise. I've heard they can be quite difficult to train compared to other working breeds, is this true? With Millie and Cooper, the only issue I've ever really had is concentration. That has been fixed since and they are the sort of aussies that like to learn, and enjoy training. By comparison to other breeds, I think that the aussie is a bit cheekier, and like to "test their limits" but I do think they are easy to train. Perhaps aussie people with more involvement could better answer this question.
  9. I recently met someone through friends and we all went back to his house for a bbq lunch. He has two shelties and both had really smelly, gunky hard and painful looking ears. I asked him about this because they smelt foul and he said that they've always had it and always will. My question is how common is ear issues in the breed, and is it controllable?
  10. does the sheltie have MDR1 testing done? Is the ivermectin sensitivity something found with the shelties too?
  11. I'd be keeping puppy close by all the time untill it passes through his sytem. Watch for signs of distress, pain, chocking, etc
  12. Something that I always wonder, but does this breed drool?
  13. aside from general grooming, how often would a shetland need to be stripped? For the purpose of the question, we'll say the sheltie is a pet, not showdog.
  14. In comparison to your australian shepherds, how much/often do your shelties shed?
  15. Cowanbree; COoper is a red merle aussie and when he stains I wash him with Petway Supergroom Pink Shampoo. It really gets him clean, it smells good and it's not oily
  16. Is this breed compatible with larger breeds? Does the breed need to be housed with similar sized breeds? Is The Shetland Sheepdog a generally loud breed? Are they very vocal?
  17. Piglet now has a home. =] Not with me lol.
  18. You mentioned he only goes inside on the tiles, did your breeder keep them indoors? It might be what he thinks is right? I would contact your breeder and see if she can offer anything.
  19. Flick Mac, where does your other dog pee? Just wondering so that I can edit my upcoming post to the situation to hopefully, give you a better answer. =] Cooper was a shy urinater. We started taking Millie and Tiny out at the same time, say "Go Toilet" and my older two would pee and wait back at the front door. Cooper found it easier with the other dogs peeing too.

  21. I think she's a deerhound? going by the OP's previous posts.
  22. Hi Jaimee, tough job with the dane pup. it sounds like your dane is being spoilt and is taking advantage of you. I don't think she likes you enough to want to enjoy your gifts. She only lays down with one so that she can better concentrate on killing it because she is thinking of you. Perhaps she imagines each toy to be one of your limbs, she could be concentrating on your arm for example right now. I think you should just feed her your husky pup already and let her sleep inside when she likes. She might like you better for it. As for the toys, switch them for your personal belongings, because you don't love her enough for her to like you. Ahhhha haha. Nah Jaimee I have no idea what you should do about Keeley's obsession with destruction. Have you tried the rubber kongs and things? I know she killed that kong rope thingy with the ball, but how about heavy duty toys. The Ruff toys you and I were discussing earlier would be good i think. pricey but probably worth it. I know a few DOLers would vouch for their quality. If she likes ripping into things, let me know if you would consider kangaroo legs with meat and stuff still on it, Electra would be capable of tearing one up too, although a tail might be lighter for her. If you want, I can get some for you during the week sometime and you can pick them up after week. Oh, tottally offtopic, but if you wanted to play date Sunday; 3pm is best. =] Bon.
