I'm pretty sure they have a long form with those sort of questions that the vet normally fills in for them. Perhaps the vet didnt state she had no collar, and they were just ringing and checking? They'd have more then one dog there. RIP lovely girl.

She'll love it. All of it.

Hip Dysplasia is not common in Australian Shepherds. I have never heard of one having Hip Dysplasia.

I wanna buy a good camera soon so that i can take them seriously too

My advice is to train the puppy like a dog, so i would be encouraging use of the door straight away. It would make toilet training a breeze. In regards to her jumping through the door, how high off the ground is the door? Can we see a photo?

they are gorgeous photos. :D I love Menace.

Mrs T. Welcome to DOL. My name is Bonnie. I live in Whyalla. Is there anything I can do to help you with the puppy?

It's disgusting. The persons who did this should be shot till death. It's so inhumane to do that to the poor puppy. I just want to cradle the poor thing in my arms and say "everything is okay now'. Some people are mongrels. but in my own town??? OMG.

Pup left to starve JADE WALKER03 Dec, 2009 08:59 AM Just about skin and bones was how a six month old puppy was found on someone's front lawn recently. The emaciated staffy cross mastif was starved and dehydrated, close to dying. RSPCA officer Dianne McCance said this was the worst case of starvation she had seen in Whyalla. Weighing 6.6kg, at least half his normal weight, Ms McCance said he looked about four-months-old. The RSPCA kept him cool and gave him food and water, but he wasn't eating much at first. But after a week of loving attention, he was eating and acting like a puppy should. Although only early days, Ms McCance said he seemed a lot better and there was a small improvement in his weight. She said it would be at least another three months before he was healthy, and he would then be put up for adoption. Foster carer Louise Thompson will look after him during the Christmas period. Ms McCance said she considered euthanising him but she just couldn't. "He deserves a second chance," she said. "Getting him a good home, that would be great." Finding the story behind the puppy's case was hard, but Ms McCance said usually a puppy would be found or taken in before it got to this state. "If you can't afford to feed them, come to the RSPCA, we give out food parcels as a one off," she said. "Don't just leave the dog to starve, bring it here, don't give it away." Ms McCance encouraged anyone who may recognise the dog to contact the RSPCA shelter. "Because we would like to prosecute someone who's doing that to a pup."

I dunno about it being on the VIctor Harbour side of Adelaide, but if it is in the centre, or the Whyalla side, then myself and my OH will come. =] Happy to pay upfront -

Lucy's Mama. I'm an owner of Three amazing Australian Shepherds. My best piece of advice for you is to treat the puppy like an adult. If you don't want the full grown aussie on your lap on the couch in full coat, don't let it as a pup. Feel free to PM me anytime.

Changing Their Diet- To All Dry Food.
Parkeyre replied to Tay.'s topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I use Purino Pro Plan. I have energetic breeds like yours, ones that are both energetic and lazy. One is known to put on weight, but i'm not having any troubles with purina. My guys dont JUST have dry though. They get roo meat, eggs and vegies often. -
Jumping On People At The Front Door
Parkeyre replied to kiesha09's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
isn't there a contraption jumping dogs can wear to stop them from jumping up? sort of like a harness for their legs? Hm. I had an issue with my pup jumping when he first arrived. We'd make the guest leave the door again if pup left the sit position back from the door and we continued to do this untill it was effective. Haven't had issues since. Also; you could give silence a shot? No excitement for the door, no excitement for the guest, teach the household and the guests to be silent untill in the living room etc. -
I have three aussies, and they are pretty diferent to eachother.. it depends onthe lines. PM me if you want to chat and ask questions, but be warned aussies aren't for everyone. I know of three very good breeders in SA out near you that breed wonderful aussies. Two of which have litters on the ground at the moment, one is being handreared.
