I remember the first full day with my boy Cooper. Unlike any puppy ever before, I was worried. But can laugh it off now. -
Requirements For Dogs On Utes
Parkeyre replied to Miss BeRidgierent's topic in General Dog Discussion
I would Tottally do that! My aussie bitch wears doggles in the ute, If I had a small dog i could possibly have a small sturdy motorbike bag attached to the 2nd seat and have her there, but i doubt it. Did you get a photo! There's a lady around town who keeps her pug in her motoribke jacket. -

Question: How should I carry my animal in my vehicle? So long as the animal is not in your lap (or sitting on the petrol tank of your motorcycle) and not affecting your control of the vehicle, there are no rules prohibiting how you should carry your animal. It is advised however, that you securely restrain your animal using either a restraint or house the animal in a suitable cage or container. From road rules qld transport Q&A http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/resources/...anda_290909.pdf The harness sounds a great idea though. I'm imagining trying to go to the beach with the dogs all sitting on my motorbike's petrol tank.. Going around the roundabouts would be fun, and past the duckies! -

Thankyou for not buying your pups untill they are eight weeks old. Unfortunatley you have been duped and there is no breed called a Cavoodle. If you haven't realised; a cavoodle is nothing more then a mutt, two breeds bred together at a puppy farm and given a "designer" name to sell easier. Educate yourself on puppy farms, designer dogs and their health issues. Buying two puppies at once, you're likely going to have problems with them as they grow. Seperate them often so that you can still bond with your mutts (or you can call them Cavs x Poodles) or it may end in tears. Okay, Toilet training. Every time your pup gets excited, wakes up, drinks, eats or starts sniffing the ground - take it to the designated toilet area and wait for it to toilet. It's easiest to do this on leash, as soon as you witness the pup toilet give it a command (IE: go wees). Repeat this and eventually the pup will recognise that "Go Wees"means that it is required to go to the toilet so that it can come back inside. Puppies have weak bladders, and will go during the night often. You need to be prepared to either lcean this up first thing in the morning, or wake up during the night once or twice a night untill the habit of bladder control is settled. As for feeding your puppies. Read the bag of dog food you are feeding your dog. If you are still unsure; take the pup to your vet and talk to him/her. Your pups need to be vaccinated, wormed and checked over anyway; seeing as though you didn't go through a registered breeder. Best of luck with your dogs.

Bonnie, how would I do that..... I guess Im being lazy just going to new posts - after all it does show all the stuff that has been on since my list visit - if I could block the off topic that would help. Oh and thanks for all the other 'comments' here maybe? oh wait, no that's not it. Alpha Bet; You will need to PM troy and ask to have it blocked from your view. You will no longer be able to access the subforums though: Member Marketplace, Cat Chat, Birds, Fish, Horses and other Pets, Arts and Crafts.. also things like the recipes.

the blue eye is so cute. Not used to border collies with a blue eye? Is it common, or a health issue at all?

Finding It Hard To Find The "one"
Parkeyre replied to italmum's topic in General Dog Discussion
As I have said before, puppies are not a clean slate. They have potential to be what their genes dictate, and hopefully that potential is good and will be reached, and no unexpected bad experiences shape the dog. It is important the the breeder gives you as much info as possible about Christian, but there are ways of knowing more. Dogs can be tested out, to see their reactions and gauge how they would be likely to react to things in your home. Ask the breeder first, but I am sure they won't mind you doing a few things to see what Christian does. Make a loud and sudden noise (drop a very heavy book on the floor about two meters away from the dog). It is normal for the dog to get a fright, but the test is, how quickly does the dog get over it? Ideally you want a dog that will get over it within a second or two, and come bouncing over for inspection, and not remain cowering away in fear for a little while. Don't reassure the dog or say a word, just watch what it does. Give the dog a pigs' ear or similar treat to chew. Can the breeder take the treat away from him without him snapping or growling? If they can, can you? (Do not allow the kids to be near the dog at any time while eating). If he growls or bites, I would say unsuitable for a home with kids (or maybe even adults unless he gets some training). Have the kids sit quietly and call Christian. Does he come over to them? Ask the kids to run around in a big circle around the dog, and get them to squeal and giggle. Is the dog scared of that? Does it get overexcited and jump on the kids or nip? At what level of the kids activity does the dog start to get overexcited or scared? Yes, it feels foolish to do these silly tests, and doing tests isn't foolproof. But doing tests like these will give you more of an idea of Christian's temperament than just patting and playing with him will. Goodluck. Fantastic Post. -

Poll: Have You Ever Used The Report Button
Parkeyre replied to sandgrubber's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't get why it's gone either, each to their own I guess. because it flashed three images that may have to do with war. :D Yes, because the dog was showing a traumatized face and was flashing back to traumatizing images. I get that some people found it offensive, but I don't think it was offensive enough to be completely deleted but hey... whatever. I've certainly seen/read more offensive things on DOL over the years ;) The dog wasn't showing a traumatized face though. The dog "Stains" on Animal Plant's The Dog or Me was staring down the cupcakes; his herding and working instincts coming through. Someone had since uploaded the clip onto the computer and embedded it with three quick flash images of the vietnam war. Minus the three images (less then a second of viewable picture) the clip was perfectly fine. ETA: the original clip, which should not be in anyway offensive as it has no war images can be viewed here for those who were curious... -

there's been a thread on this asking about the day it's on. Good spotting. Apparentally it is a fair bit about DDs too.

Don't stress too much about the labradoodle debate hun. With it being a purebred forum, we aren't allowed to talk up the money mutt/designer dogs anyway. :D So long as you recognise your dog for the two breeds that he is, there wont be a problem. I think you'd have more luck with a normal pin brush or a comb, slicker brushes are really for taking out the bottom coat (that's what i use it for anyway) Best of luck.
