  1. This *very* much depends on the breed Parkeyre so try to keep that in mind next time you post! There is a reason that Baby Puppies can be be shown with one or none Many breeds and Toy breeds in particular can take a lot longer for testicles to drop. To the OP: I hope you can encourage the RSPCA to wait for this boy. Amanda is correct in her post so an ultrasound could be a good way to go or as Parkeyre mentioned, he can still be desexed at the regular RSPCA age but the vet will have to open him up to get the second testicle. gotya.
  2. I want someone to take my dogs to the park/beach etc, do some really nice bokeh shots and blow them up for me to put up in my house. Local photographers here don't really seem into it though. dog photography, nature, bokeh. All want weddings.
  3. Hi Netty. One of my Australian Shepherds I purchased had Cryptorchidism (one testicle remains, while one drops) and he was desexed fine. The only difference to a normal desex is that there is a second opening to locate and remove the retained testicle and will cost a little bit more for the time taken to find it. Dogs with Cryptorchidism should be desexed, as their testicle should have been dropped by 8 weeks in my opinion. Bonnie.
  4. Mastiff x Ridgie is my pick.
  5. if it's not legal in your state you should contact the council or whoever the add is with.
  6. please keep us updated if you find someone. Oh, quick thought; would the avairy builders be able to help?
  7. careful aussielover or your name may end up on that list of nawty DOLer's that gets pm'ed to all the newcomers. Say what? Surely this doesn't happen! And if it does....who is on the list? the OP said she'd already been PMed a list of people to stay away from. I would LOVE to know who sent it, probably someone who's an idiot and cops it from us all.
  8. I've never had the issue; I have a giant hills hoist that is fenced away from then, but now that they are adults the gate stays open pretty much all of the time anyway.
  9. Some Vile humans make my blood boil. How utterly disgusting!
  10. Desex. Breeding is about bettering the breed, not filling your pockets.
  11. LizT - I just want to give you a big cyber hug and give Bonnie girl a good ear scratching. I'm sorry that you lost your little boy puppy, sweet dreams little man. May you run free forever. xx
  12. *hug* What a terrible and upsetting situation. I feel for everyone involved.
  13. Interesting, I didn't know we could insure dogs against death. Maybe I need to add that to the contract. thanks I'll see what I can dig up for you. I'm pretty sure if your dog is lost, stolen, or is hit by a car and dies either immediatley or after some treatment; you pay your excess (eg: $250) and the insurance company pays out the price of treatment and purchase price. I saw one offer purchase price up to $20,000. If a bitch dies giving birth though; the companies i was looking at will not cover death or anything related to pregnancy. If the dog is lost; there needs to be proof you tried to get it back eg: flyers, notifyig vets, and if the dog was stolen; you need a police report number. Again; I'll see what I can dig up. Pet insurance is a better alternative to expecting a co-owner to pay the breeder an amount after dealing with the death of a pet. Eg: imagine if someone let your dog out, it was hit by a car, you paid to have it live and it died, you fork out all expenses, suffer heartache and then have to pay the breeder X amount on top of all of that. if it's only for accidents and death; I can't imagine that actual insurance to be too much, althoug the excess might be higher.
  14. Breed name: - Australian Shepherds. Breed Group (gun dogs, working dogs ect): - Working Breed, Group Five Average life expectancy: - Generally twelve to fifteen years, as breeders are offered a lot of health tests to improve the breed. Height/Weight: - Most bitches I see are around 18-19 inches give or take, and most males are 20-22 inches. The breed standard asks that quality is not to be sacrificed for size, so if your aussie is smaller is higher it's not too bad. Exercise requirements: - Australian Shepherds need stimulation. Physical and mental stimulation is required, they are not a breed who can left to rot in the backyard. They need company and something to do. 30min walks and games of fetch is normally enough from my experience, but they have the stamina to go all day, or are happy to cuddle on the couch and have a movie day. Health problems: - Australian Shepherds are known to have a few different issues but with health testing these problems can be adressed and cared for. Breeding Merles together can create double merles which can be deaf and/or blind. Other health issues include (but are not limited to) MDR1 Drug sensitivity and CEA. Grooming: - Aussies are a double coated breed which generally have large "pants" and require regular grooming. A weekly brush keeps them soft and keeps their coat shining and knot free. Origin: - Contrary to their name; they did not originate in Australia, but South America. What were they breed for (to work live stock..ect): - Australian "Shepherd" = Sheep Herd = to herd sheep. Why you love the breed: - I immediately liked the breed because of their appearance. Four different colours (black, red solid, red merle, blue merle) with options for white and copper highlights, different tail types (full tails, short bob tails and anything in between), different eye colours (deep brown, hazel, blue, green and marbling of multiple colours at once). Now that I own the breed, I love their energy, their expressions, their loyalty and intelligence. They are such cuddly happy dogs all the time and mine all try their damn hardest at anything I ask of them. Any dislikes about the breed?: - They bark alot during play. it's like a happy seal. - They are reserved with strangers, which can lead to fear and agression toward strangers. 5 words to describe the breed: - 1. Attractive - 2. Intelligent - 3. Hardworking - 4. Loyal - 5. Loving Temperament: - they are a "best friend" breed. I'm amazed by my own dogs' bombproof temperaments and willingness to please. Accepted coat colours: - Solid Black, Solid Red, Red Merle, Blue Merle. All with or without copper and white. The amount and placing of white has restrictions though. Do you own the breed?: - Yes. Any photos you'd like to share: - Head Over to the Australian Shepherd Thread. :p
  15. What if the dog dies two days after it was sent to them? Or before it was ever used at stud? Also you gotta remember that I have never met the person and the dog will be 2000 km away. Why should I pay for someone else's negligence. I have never had a dog die from misadventure, because I take care. I would expect the same. I would not agree or encourage that contract due to the misadventurous death part. However; I would rather see it stated that the co-owner would agree to pay for pet insurance against accidents and death; where the insurance company will refund cost price, and you could have 50% of that sent back if you so feel you deserve it. All you'd need to do is provide a receipt.
  16. I own five of these. they can attach together or be seperated. http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/octagonal-...196cm-diameter/ the panels individually fit my door frames too, making for cheap puppy gates. use them around gardens, will be using as whelp pens. Currently use them around the trailer etc when we go out with the dogs.
  17. +1. We do the puppy vaccs, then one more at age one. haven't done them at age two. When age three comes about soon, I'll titre test then vacc if required.
  18. So you are talking to a breeder about purchasing a pup on breeders terms, but this breeder is the ONLY breeder of this breed selling pups publicly? I highly doubt that this is correct. Please contact your breeder about what she wants in a contract, and list back to her what you want in a contract and find even ground. If the contract sways more to one side, it wont be fair!
