I adopted dog from RSPCA, she had been dumped, covered in ticks, fleas, had to be shaved cause she was sooo matted. 5 months later, she was stolen from my yard, police called. Dog located. People said it was their dog, missing 12 months. Police did nothing. Possession is 9/10's of the law. It was a dog. The officer told me that if it was a car or boat then they would do something. Police said they do not have facilities to hold dog while it goes to court. I was offered mediation to try and talk them into getting my dog back. RSPCA would do nothing either. A dog maybe a thing in the eyes of the law but because it breathes they dont want to know about it. This could have been avoided if your dog was microchipped and in your name.

Dead or alive; in the eyes of the law; any pet is property (you own it) and is a thing rather then an entity.

Just out of curiousity; shouldn't we be encouraging new ANKC registered breeders, and be helping them on their way to being ethical and good? I thought that the number of breeders was reducing rather then rising, and that the result was the same with the litter registrations and amount of puppies being born? I could be completley wrong here, but I was under the impression that ANKC breeders are lessening by the year and that the vast majoirty of breeders have been in it for a long long time with not many new breeders? What will happen when the old breeders retire?

Before Aussies; I grew up with pedigree border collies and german shepherd mixes. By far; the aussies are the calmest. They live inside with me pretty much fulltime. One day I'm going to beg Midniara for one of her Belgian Shepherds. Ivy is beautiful.

My Australian Shepherds are a medium size breed. They are a working breed but are quite calm and collected. Absolute couch potatoes at my house though, although more then happy to run beside the ute out at the beach house or join us on the boat. Aussies are a "bestfriend" breed IMO. Like shadows. But with ALL breeds; there is a variety of temperament, energy levels, personality, trainability etc. Find a breeder who has the type of dogs you're after and make sure you are ready for that commitment. Aussies are beautiful. They come in four coat colour types, can have blue or brown eyes etc and can be a natural bob tail dog or a full tail depending on what genetics it's given. right now I have my two aussie girls at my feet sleeping, I've been poddling around the house all day and night and they are by my side, no rushing, no jumping, no struggling to get out of their beds. They are genuinely just happy, good girls.

I don't think it is. Not yet anyway. There's no text speak, no hinting toward someone looking for a bite, nothing was said wrongly enough to stir up members.

The earlier you do it, the younger she will be and the less she will weigh. It could be significantly cheaper to desex now. I am yet to see any problems with desexing a dog from this time onward and wouldn't hesitate as a bitch in season is a lot of work.

Before you can breed your Main Registered Purebred Boxers; you will need to have them tested at a minimum for the require health tests, and then look at other DNA tests to better educate your breeding decisions. You will also need to have your Breeder's prefix. Once you are a member of your state's controlling body (Dogs Victoria) then you can sit the open book exam and if you pass you can get a prefix.

You could fly your dog to a cheaper vet and get it done for that price.

NO!! Don't support ANY more laws!! It will be the end of dog ownership before we know it.

Rare Or Disqualifed Colours In Breeds.
Parkeyre replied to poodlefan's topic in General Dog Discussion
Could be a Sable, http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/profile.asp?dog=42931 Bekki is considered a wolf grey sable or silver sable http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/profile.asp?dog=40103 Tripp is also a sable but you can see the difference in colour between the two Thankyou. In this photo, his colouring looks as if he's a very dark husky but Dad has assured me he was pure. Do you know of any silver coloured GSDs overseas perhaps? -

My Dad has photos of his Silver and Black German Shepherd. Is that possible? Loving the panda marked German Shepherds. -

This would be a choc tri BC. Not a recognised colour in Australia (is recognised in the rest of the world), but certainly not rare since it WILL be produced when 2 recognised colours are bred together. Unrecognised colours are becoming less & less rare in BC's as so many strive to breed them. Could be a red tri Aussie too. Looks nothing like any wellbred Australian Shepherd. I would say Border Collie (choc tri) and possibly kelpie. Quite a common looking dog around here on the working properties. This would be a choc tri BC. It also looks a lot like my boy, who's a BC x Kelpie That was actually my first thought too Head looks more kelpieish than either BC or Aussie. Snap. -
Comon Things People Dont Realise About Your Breed
Parkeyre replied to MonElite's topic in General Dog Discussion
Something people don't realise about "my breed" (Australian Shepherds) is that they can have a Naturally Bobbed Tail; meaning that we are infact NOT big mean nasty lawbreaking dog hoarders who dock tails illegally and make our dogs go through ALL the pain of docking. *eye roll* -
What an excellent story!! You look utterly impressed with your new addition. Congratulations! (and goodluck with any crying overnight)

that bit that I bolded: that's good! and gradually get it to the point where Seth is getting the sit, eye contact and saying "eat". its hard with a pup and a little one isn't it! I'm sure you'll get there I believe the child is only 2? I wouldn't be letting a 2yo put down my dogs food bowl!! That is asking for trouble, no matter the reasoning behind it IMHO... +1. Work on yourself being pack leader first.
