  1. Yep I use metal for the seekback and we were doing it great( Gabby was) but she has decided to change it instead of going and checking it out like we normally do and finding the correct one we fly around and find the first when we get to. arghhh. Have done the wood and leather with Xena and metal and went back to wood both Inka and Gabby love metal. Inka is not the brightest border collie around believe it or not Nope never used food bowels at all. Have tried putting food on the gloves and Inka use to go to the glove and didnt eat the food. Have tried it with the articles same thing like I said not the brightest dog around Once there we are fine but to get it there is the fun part Gabby I am going to try and putting the food on my article or tying down the decoy so she just cant go picking it up and has to sniff the articles. Just another glitch in the training department
  2. Only problem dont like the red but I shall go for a bottle of vodka and at my rate that could be gone in a day Yep know all about the slap in the face. Thought I had gone through all of that with Xena ha Gabby came out with some beauties owell keep on trying. How mad is this I am also doing Inka and she is very slow pace. Cant do much with her she doesnt like change at all she just shuts down so with her you do little bit and than you dont do anything for a month. Seems to be working buy my oh my its such a slow progress. We still have to teach the decoy and we are doing the multi retrieve and with that one she goes ummm there is nothing there for me to retrieve so ummm I'm not going anywhere. Once she knows there is something there she goes and retrieves it its the first one that seems to be the problem. We also can do it beautiful with gloves so its 2 gloves out and 1 leather article at the moment still. One day we might just get it and go straight out. Looks like there is another bottle of vodka coming my way
  3. Had finally decided to pull my finger out and do a little bit of UDX training should go back to my once in a blue moon training it works much better . Well we failed 5 out of 5 exercises. Love to find the decoy and brings that back to me. Pick up the towel that was next to the correct one(give her the benefit of the doubt as a big wind came through as she was doing it) Heelwork in motion normally cant do a sit but hey presto no problems cant do drop. Change of position we can do well when somebody else says it and than when we realize that we are suppose to do it when mummy says so she decided that she cant do a stand arghhh. Than I thought we would do the multi retrieve as we can do that quite well nope we take off before we give a command and than coming down to me she keeps on dropping it. O well back to the drawing board
  4. Hey Congratulations Tassie and Rory. You guys will soon be ready for the big league lol
  5. Ok I shall try again. I lost my message and I dont know where :D Ptolomy what's this with a radio fixing positions??? Gabby cant do her seekback no more. We have to get the decoy arghhhhh. Went through the positions but than we went through the ummm not allowed to move at all and have to stay in my position for a long time cause I know that it is a trick question and I am not falling for it I was suppose to trail her next year but it could be the following as we keep on crashing multi retrieve heelwork in motion what's a sit????The only thing she does great is the towels :D Good luck Has WA got lots of people doing udx?
  6. Well where do I start Xena She has earned her retirement so she will be the spectator well rather a noisy one at that and enter a few veterans trials for a laugh Gabby Agility Getting her last few legs towards her Agility Champion title. Her SPDX title with her brother (going to be interesting that one) her SDX title, Her GDM title. Obedience To get her UDX title and hopefully some open passes ie sit stays and bringing me the dumbell to me instead of getting it coming too me and go oops forgot what to do mum stand there and drop the article arghhh Inka Agilityto get a bit more precise on the contacts instead of blowing me off and going off a hundred miles an hour and to listen to me that would be good Obedience To be able to do a sit stay and keep the brains in gear and not doing silly thing like ie last week going to present my dumbell to the jump and realizing that wasnt me at the last minute sitting in front crooked Have to say keeps training interesting though
  7. Well done RubyStar and Millie. :D Great score as well
  8. And I remember Rambo the JRT and his attitude at agility. LOL. I'm not sure how I got interested. My parents used to breed shelties and knew some other sheltie breeders that competed in obedience. They stopped breeding before I was born and when we got "my" first dog (well I considered her mine) I went to train privately with these other people my parents knew and everyone there but us (I was all of 9 or 10 I think) trialled. I hugely admired their dogs. But I think maybe I knew about trials before that and wanted to? My sheltie had some nervous issues though with other people so although she could do fantastic heelwork, stays and recalls she would never cope with a stand for exam - it took my brother 18 months to even be able to pat her. Then I became a teenager and things fall by the way side as Terranik said. I still wanted a dog to train and compete with but it wasn't doable. When I was 18 I got my first border collie Ricky and the intention was always to compete with him. Ricky enved up attacked and nearly killed by another dog when he was 12 months old. He never ended up stable enough to get through everything after that. He would come good for awhile but a small growl would turn him into a mess and whatever we had been doing at that time would fall apart, I did manage to get him into the agility ring and gain an AD. Due to him being attacked we were oferred another pup to help him get over it and get used to other dogs. So Reagan entered the house. Unfortuantely having limited training experience and trying to train a pup and an adolescent with issues due to being attacked was hard work and Reagan never got the training or attention that he should have. In those days prelims were needed for obedience and agility - both Ricky and Reagan gained prelims in obedience but never went further. Reagan gained his ADX in agility. Piper then entered the scene with serious intentions. She has her CD, AD (plus 4 ADX passes), JD (+1 JDX pass) and HIAsd (intermediate herding sheep and ducks) Poor Piper is a fantastic versatile dog that will turn a paw to anything and is so keen to please and as she was entering her prime for competing I gained a serious work injury so stopped training and have never really got back into it. About when I considered returning to agility she injured a leg and is no longer able to. Oh and somewhere in there the herding bug bit so driving a 250km return trip for 1 hour of herding became more attractive than attending a trial. And Jazz - well I enjoy her and will trial her in something other than herding. Just need to motivate myself. I think she will be a load of fun to train and trial. And that turned into an essay. LOL Gee who would forget about Rambo arghhhhhhhh Have to say he taught me lots about dog training though lol
  9. haha where do you think I got all my grey hair from and doing Inka there wont be any red left at all by the time I get her in the ring and yep have to agree with the one step forward, 10 backwards, 3 sideways and then back to the drawing board at the moment. Especially when you think they have got it done it a few times and than it becomes the what never done it before look and that lasts for awhile and than you get the ohh why didnt you just say so look
  10. Yep something like that might also have to wait till I move cause I dont think my mum could cope with another Gabby in the house
  11. Well done Ness and the pocket rocket on your title
  12. there's a lady in SA who has her triple champion munsterlander showing champion tracking champion and obedience champion
  13. Think I might have to wait for Gabby to grow up a little and settle a bit like the other girls. Having another Gabby in the house
  14. This is an interesting topic! I got interested in training in 1980 when we had electives at primary school and I was training the family dog. I was interested in it and begged my mum and dad let me go to dog school with our neighbour and her dog. She wasnt very good and when she died and we got another puppy in 1984 she was a dobermanxcorgi and started trialling in 1986 I soon found out what AOC was and said I was going to do it but I got told that I wouldnt get it as my dog wasnt good. Well 8 years later we got our AOC title. To get your AOC title you needed your UD title and TDX title. We started doing agility when that started around 87 and got our AD title and did superdogs. I would say around that time I was hooked lol. Not long after that I met my ex and trained his Jack Russell Terrier and he got his CDX title and AD title. I than got a kelpie Milo and she got her OC and her AOC title plus JDX and ADX title (around that time noone really knew how to train a fast dog so we failed quite often lol) They all got there ET title as well. I than got Xena my coolie which has her AG CH and OC title and UDX title, she is basically retired now and so did Inka my border collie. I now have my baby coolie Gabby and she has done really well as she has got her OC title and is working her way through UDX and has her ADM JDM ADO JDO SPD SDX GDX title. So as you can see I am hooked into both obedience and agility and have been doing for around ohh my god! 30 years. Doesnt time fly when your having fun lol
  15. Congratulations everybody on there recent brags. Havent been on here lately have had lots of computer problems but hopefully will be soon rectified and shall be on here lol but I just had to share this as I am so proud of my girls and there achievements this year Xena my 12 year old coolie won the Top Snooker Master Award and Inka won the Top Gambler Master Award and the big news is that Gabby won 6 awards yep you heard right 6 SACA awards. I am so proud of her she won Top Jumping Award that is the accomulation of all of her jumping open and master passes together. Top Novice Snooker Award, Top OPen Agility Award, Top Open Jumping Award, Top Master Agility Award, Top Master Jumping Award. Also this year she got her obedience champion title and she won the State Aglity and Jumping titles in Master and Open Jumping and Master Agility and in the State Games Titles Strategic Pairs Novice with her brother and Master Gamblers as well. I am so proud of my girls cheers Danni and the girls
  16. Congratulations on both of your dogs but I also had to add a brag Today we had our State Championship Games trial today and young Gabby is the 2010 State Novice Strategic Pairs (with brother Ash) and Master Gamblers and Inka got third in Master Gamblers. Passed quite a few things with both and Inka got her Snooker Master title finishing all of her games title YIPPEE !!! Not bad for a young girl who only has started trialing in June 2009. This year we have won 5 State Titles. Including our 2 from today we also are 2010 Master Jumping, Master Agility and Open Agility Champion. So proud of my baby cheers
  17. Congratulations on everyones brag. Rubystar and Milli good video and Vickie and Trims gawd she was fast and Scoota and Brookie and Seita and Ella well done on your UD pass Is that your first time in UD?
  18. congratulations on everybody else's brags. Last night was a bit of ummmmm flop. We failed both master agility and open agility ummmm handler error Have to wait in a couple of weeks for the next lot of agility. Wednesday and Thursday we have ud and open so i will see how we will go At the moment its raining at least the weather is not as bad as last night with the wind that we had that had taken out lots of trees
  19. Just got back from the Royal Show and my little girl Gabby got a first in both open and master jumping am so proud of my girl. The judge Lee Hammer did some lovely courses there last night considering its inside and not a lot of room. We're off again tonight for agility
  20. hey DSO which judge did you have yesterday. I was in Anne's ring with Gabby and Inka and both of my dogs did that had a good sniff in the corner but they did it quickly lol
  21. Congratulations TerraNick,TwoBlackDogs, Leopuppy and everyone else who qualified. We had a busy two days of trialling. Yesterday was a bit of a disaster. Xena forgotten how to do a drop on recall and decided that the backside up in the air was a great look Gabby decided that the sendaway why sit in front when you can go through mums legs ohh and dont forget we can also do zoomies around the ring ;) Only Inka managed a pass in UD and that was hard work for the first two exercises came out with 184 and fourth place. Today was much better Xena remembered how to do a drop and came out with 194 and first in one open ring Inka came second with 195 in the other ring and managed to do her sit stays without dropping Gabby was sitting on 197 and instead of dropping managed to do a 3 min stand stay :D Ud Inka didnt manage to find the correct article (Very hard for the girl coming out of open doing brilliant work and going straight into ud lol) and Gabby got first in ud with 190. At least next week will be quiet as we dont have anything but the following week is off to Barmera a nice country trial. LOL Hey Ness how did you go over the weekend cheers Danni
  22. Hey Tassie and they say these black and white things are smart I dont know what happened with Inka she is usually doing something silly ie doing a drop stay and when I returned there was every other dogs face looking and one back side yep Inka decided to turn around in the drop stay to watch something else. She also lay down on a 200 score which most probably will never happen in my life again. That's just a few things that she has done must get myself another coolie :D
  23. Thanks guys actually had Joy R asking for Inka's card so there probably wouldnt be anymore points left suprised about Inka did the seekback and off went Inka trot trot like she does and came face to face with the solid jump had a fright than thought she could jump from being nose to nose with the jump and than went around it. Peter and i couldnt stop laughing and than I was missing a leather article so had to borrow Joy's so I think between us we tried to fail lol. That is what I am working on and also UDX.. Anyway I dont think Ness wants to retire :D so I think you might have to continue lol
  24. Hi Guys Just got back from the same trial as Ness and my little baby Gabby at a tender age of 35 months got her Obedience Champion title. I am so proud of my little girl. My old girl who is sort of in retirement my 12 year old Xena who had crashed into a jump earlier in the year and gave her a couple of months off and did veterans which she wasnt happy about did open and won that class she was so happy that she didnt keep her big mouth shut and just barked herself around the ring and the black and white border collie Inka won UD so out celebrating tonight lol
  25. thanks guys Gabby is a special dog so neat and fast and so bidding not like Inka that you have to argue with her the whole way through a course cause she thinks she knows better lol actually I had carried an injury over the weekend and pulled up ok just very tired. Might add the girls are all out there playing around though lol Had 18 runs on the sat and sun had 17 runs glad I have been at training at the gym
