Henry & Marcus - Playing In Backyard
moosepup replied to Sticks1977's topic in General Dog Discussion
Definitely playing. How cute was the circle chasey towards the end!! -
Yeah Moose was/is pretty quick at getting out of the way. I'm a light sleeper anyway so I couldn't imagine being able to squish him without either of us noticing.
-
Mine have 2 doggy doors so can pretty much do whatever they like (which is generally snoozing inside) when we're home but are locked inside when we're out. It's more about me being a worry wart then anything else. Also, Moose has started riling up the dog next door so I can imagine him getting all the neighbourhood dogs going if left outside. They both get put outside in the morning for about an hour to do their thing and get some fresh air and then I bring them in just before I leave. They are restricted to the open plan kitchen/lounge/dining and hallway which is all tiled so if they do need to toilet it's not a hassle to clean up. 99% of the time they can go all day without toileting. Moose will do the odd nugget but they are so tiny, firm and odourless that it's not a major drama. Then when we get home they go for a nice big walk. I think they're happy chappys so will stick with it.

I know a lot of people here think it's dangerous but Moose slept on my bed pretty much from day 1 and I didn't squish him. I can see now how easily it can happen but I don't more around much in my sleep so . I wouldn't really recommend it for tiny puppies and don't think I'll do it with my next one. Another thing to be concerned about is a small breed puppy falling between the sheet and the end of the mattress if it sleeps under the covers. This happened to my sister with our other dog Zoe once. She was fine but it was a worry because it took us awhile to find her and she could've been hurt.

I swear! All these shoes were already here! Gosh!

Where Are Your Dogs When You're On Dol?
moosepup replied to poochmad's topic in General Dog Discussion
That sounds so adorable! -
MOOSE! At first it was a bit of a joke when we were trying to think up a name for him but then it just kinda stuck. His reg'd name is Phantom's Gold so his breeder was calling him Goldy. Glad we didn't stick with that, he is sooooo a Moose. My friend named his Staffy/BC cross Nudge after the doofus from Hey Dad. Best name ever, wish I'd thought of it first.

Where Are Your Dogs When You're On Dol?

I use my computer on the couch so Moose is usually lying around my neck on the back of the couch. -
This is slightly OT but in regards to weed killer... we recently used Buffalo Master on some lawn weeds in the backyard but the container didn't say anything about pets, just not to feed clippings to sheep n stuff. I emailed the manufacturer and got this response... I was a bit because we've never done this before, just kept them off the lawn for a day or 2. Needless to say there were many walks out the front for toileting for the week.

Tuna / Salmon / Sardines: Oil Or Springwater
moosepup replied to Skruffy n Flea's topic in General Dog Discussion
I give mine sardines in olive oil. I don't trust the ones that just say "oil". What oil?? I feed it about 3/4 times a week. They don't smell great but it doesn't bother me. What bothers me is the smell of the end product. Moose likes to sit on the couch behind my head and let rip after a sardine meal. -
Going To My First Dog Show In Years!
moosepup replied to crazyboutdogz's topic in General Dog Discussion
Ooooh have fun cbd! I'm so glad you tracked down his breeder, even better that you get to meet them. You seriously need to learn how to put bigger pictures up, I want some Pablo cuteness overload! -
I can just picture it! Moose got a few good right hooks in on Zoe I think. I'm sure it was accidental...

Moose lost (most of) a nail in a door vs dog incident when he was about 4 months old. It did take awhile to grow back completely (about 3 - 4 months I think) but then he didn't lose the entire nail so not sure if Mosley's will grow back. The vet said to leave the bandage on for a few days but Moose got it off in 1 and a half. I just left it off but washed the toe in diluted dettol to keep it clean. It was fine. Hope your Mosley heals okay. Does he look as pathetic as this...? Should've seen him trying to get around with this boxing glove bandage on.

How Tell If There's Something In An Ear
moosepup replied to moosepup's topic in General Dog Discussion
I wasn't being serious about the prodding. Good idea about the torch, I'll try that. I'd prefer not to take him to the vet tonight as it costs $120 just for a consult and I might just be a worry wart. If it worsens I will though definitely. He's acting like a nut (ie. normal) because it's nearing dinner time so he doesn't seem too bothered right now. Will take him in the morning if it's still irritated. ETA - Had a look with the torch and can't see anything, it's nice and white in there, not irritated. -
Foods That Are Poisonous For Dogs
moosepup replied to Westie Girl's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yep, the vet said it can be hit and miss whether a dog will be affected or not. We had a "nut spill" and thought we'd picked them all up but obviously not. He's only a Chi so 2 or 3 macas is a lot. Anyways, 1 anti-vomiting injection and some charcoal later and he recovered. Scary though. -
I just got back from taking the dogs for a walk and a couple of minutes before home Moose started scratching his ear and holding it off to an angle. At the moment he's still scratching it every 30 seconds or so and holding it funny but otherwise acting normal. I had a look but can't see anything in there or any bites. Should I just leave it and see how it goes overnight? Or start prodding? lol

moosepup replied to crazyboutdogz's topic in General Dog Discussion
Haha, I'm always squishing his face! In a good way! We do have another dog. She's an 11yr old Maltese X Chihuahua. I also have my name down on a waiting list for some Chihuahua pups due in April/May. Zoe & Moose... -

Oh No She's Eaten A Load Of Grapes!
moosepup replied to teekay's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I agree, I think most things you just need to be careful about. Having said that though, Moose ate a couple of macadamias once and was very very ill. Now I'm a bit nut phobic with him. I think the best thing to do is ring your vet and follow their advice. If they say just to watch your dog then that's what I'd do. In my case I was told to bring him in ASAP as macadamias can be highly toxic. But again, some dogs can eat a whole handful and be fine, others will eat 1 and get sick. -
How Can I Find Out Who Bred My Chi
moosepup replied to crazyboutdogz's topic in General Dog Discussion
Sounds like Silva Cloud is maybe his show name and Buffy his call name?? They have a phone number listed on their DOL Breeder page. Maybe give them a call and just say you want to email them some pictures of a puppy you have aquired that you believe they may have bred. I'm sure they would want to know where little Pablo has ended up. Maybe you can open up a dialogue that way. Can't wait to see more pics of him, he looks like a real little cutie. Not that I'm biased toward Chi's or anything.... -
Awww what a sweetie! Love his face. He doesn't look fat to me in that photo.

Moose likes to sit on my shoulder like a parrot when I'm on the couch. Or lie around my neck. Maybe he thinks he's a cat?

Thanks Gretel, I will conduct an ant nest hunt tomorrow. I wish I could boil the house.
