  1. You couldn't go outside without getting sprayed by my desexed bunny, nearly had to invest in some waders to protect my clothes! But he was always a bit evil so maybe it was that?
  2. My rabbit was desexed and still urinated everywhere (outside bunny). Not sure why desexing would stop urination?
  3. Hope Whitey is doing well. My Zoe recovered from IMT but it was touch and go at the start. She was only 2 or 3 at the time (I think, I was only a teenager at the time) and now going on 12. Sending healing vibes to you.
  4. :D I could probably get more people walking the dogs with me if that was on offer!
  5. He is supposed to eat the bones. I have a Chi so I will occasionally cut a chicken neck in half if it's a big one but otherwise leave them whole to be munched on.
  6. Yep, we use those too. See below... I cable tied 2 sides together, one is hooked around the shell and the other can be moved like a gate. Very cheap and easily moved. We use them everywhere! See the sad faces in the background?? That's effective locking out! :champagne:
  7. The only places I've stayed there with dogs is Prevelly Villas and Caves Road Chalets. Caves is a little ways from the beach (not walking distance) and it's creepy at night (venison farm next door, deers make some spooky noises). This place looks cute but not really close to the beach... Little House
  8. Sounds like there's a few of us with 'special' dogs. Moose was so far in there I think he would've given up and stayed in there if I didn't rescue him. I'm beginning to think that perhaps Chihuahua + king size doona could be a worrisome mix!
  9. Last night I was lying in bed reading with Moose curled up at my side (beneath doona) as usual. So eventually I get tired, turn the light off and start moving around to get comfortable, and so does Moose. He disappeared down to somewhere near my legs so I swept them side so side to see where he went. No Moose. I'm sure he didn't hop off the bed (he's small so it's hard to tell) so I start patting the mattress and calling his name. Eventually he starts moving up the mattress towards my head, albeit very slowly. Once he reached my head I tried to lift the doona up to get it over his head. Couldn't do it. 'What the?' I thought. It took me a few seconds to realise he was inside the doona cover!!! So I get out of bed and turn the light on. Open the doona cover and find him trapped at the end furiously digging away trying to get out. He must've been so frantic that he couldn't hear me calling him (or I was laughing too much!) so I had to go in and retrieve him. I can only describe his face as 'cripes, there you are mum!'. It wouldn't have been easy for him to pull this off so I think it was just a fluke! Here's the little porkchop this morning, I think he's still recovering!
  10. I add sardines to their BARF meal about 2 - 3 times a week. Eggs are already in their BARF.
  11. Moose was somewhat difficulty to toilet train but I think this was mostly owner error and not doggy error! I've never toilet trained a large breed though so not sure. I will say it's 'easier' in the sense that the poops are lot smaller in case of accidents. They definitely still need to be walked. I don't know if Moose could handle 4k's though, he's very fit but his legs are only small! He does love getting out and seeing the sights. If I don't get a chance to walk him though we do play a lot of toy games and he gets exercise this way. He's mad about toys. I don't know about getting a long with cats but he doesn't try to eat my sisters parrot. Very curious about him though. Chi's are very fiesty so I think training is a must (this is true for all dogs I'm sure). I didn't do formal training as such with Moose but he knows sit, drop, wait, shake etc and sits next to his bowl until he gets the 'go' signal. He knows that I'm the boss. Also, if she wants a lap dog she might want to consider something else. Moose is pretty hyper and loves to play, he doesn't like to sit still for too long. I have known far more relaxed Chihuahuas though so maybe he's just special!
  12. I took Moose home the same day and he was fine. Mind you he only had 1 stitch. The only issue we had was with a bit of licking but he only started doing this towards the end of the healing period (itchy perhaps?) and I just bucketed him when I wasn't around.
  13. My mum said to me the other day... "can you please tell Moose to stop leaving his clothes lying around the house?".
  14. I had Moose desexed at 6 months and it did abate the humping somewhat. I don't think he's any different to how he would've been if I'd waited but he is only a small breed (2.2kg). Slight OT but I had my rabbit (may he RIP) desexed and he was just as aggressive post op as he was pre op. I envisioned having this cuddly little fluffball that I could snuggle but he was the meanest, craziest, nutbag ever. Still loved him to bits though.
  15. ;) Fantastic treats made by an awesome lady. Wouldn't get treats from anywhere else.
  16. Do you have to actually take the photos yourself?
  17. Yep, I think the main problem is that whilst there might not be any external signs for a few days, the internal damage could be significant. SM - do you suspect your dog has eaten some??
  18. I don't know but if I had suspected that my dog may have eaten Ratsak I would be down at the vets in a flash. I believe the quicker it is a vomited up the better...? Hope it's a false alarm!
  19. I had to take Moose to emergency after he had eaten a couple of macadamias (they had been dropped on the floor and we thought we'd picked them all up). I presume he'd eaten them the night we dropped them (but possibly the next day) but I didn't notice anything wrong with him until the next afternoon when I got home from work. He was shaking (more than his usual Chihuahua shakes), ears back, very unhappy and I found a vomit that had nuts it. Emergency gave him some charcoal and an anti-vomiting injection and he was fine. Very scary though.
  20. Hope she's okay Webby. If you need help finding an emergency vet please post your location here and I'm sure one of us can help you.
  21. Nothing. I've never seen a tick where I live and only treat for fleas when they get them which is very rare. :D You've listed Interceptor in your poll but this doesn't have flea or tick prevention in it. I use it.
  22. Nushie already talked about these in her original post and why they weren't suitable. :D
