  1. Don't know why we're all repeating ourselves but anyway... Moselle, are you happy for the RSPCA to waste time and resources visiting this property repeatedly (based on them being reported) when it's entirely possible that while they are breeding in large numbers the animals are well fed, sheltered, treated and loved? No one KNOWS what is going on at the property because NO ONE here has physically been there (driving past doesn't count). The fact that nothing has happened means that if the RSPCA has visited they have not found anything to cause concern. I would rather the RSPCA spent time on ACTUAL cruelty cases. Why don't you go out there and pretend you're a prospective puppy buyer and THEN report it if you see anything untoward?
  2. Laundry trough whenever they need it, maybe every 6 weeks. I had to wash Moose last night when he was in the firing line of some (cold) minestrone soup that my neice thought would be funny to dump all over the floor. I didn't see it happen so it took me a little while to figure out why he was wet and smelt like tomatoes.
  3. Nawww MM. What a sweet looking boy. Hope it's just a tummy upset and he's back home with you tomorrow. Keep us updated.
  4. I agree with pers. Plus, Moose doesn't have any going out clothes.
  5. I just told Moose if he ever poops in my bed our sleeping arrangements will be up for serious discussion. :D barkon - as long as the poops are normal I wouldn't be too worried. :D
  6. Sparky, the issue is that the OP hasn't even SEEN any animals at the property to see if they are in a condition that needs to be reported. Puppy mills are not illegal and as long as the dogs are well cared for the RSPCA's time is better spent elsewhere. Until she actually sees animals being mistreated what exactly is she reporting?
  7. I'm not sure about any dog friendly ones (interested to know myself) but I can tell you to avoid Searles Buffalo Master. You have to keep them off the lawn for 7 days if you do.
  8. I would never give the yearly injection. Do I really want my dog to be injected with a years worth of chemicals (irregardless of reported reactions or not)? No thanks! I give my two Interceptor Spectrum monthly chewables but I only give them every 6 weeks.
  9. dwilds - contact your council and see if they allow more than 2 dogs with approval. I put in an application, paid an app fee, ranger came and did an inspection and I was approved. This was in WA though and all councils are different. Good luck.
  10. mine too I reckon. The look they give me when I say out for piddles in the cold & pouring rain. :D I love Moose's early morning wet grass walk. Very tentative, only 3 little chicken legs on the ground at any one time as he tiptoes around finding a wee spot. Wee done, race back inside and under the blanket.
  11. Bones are ideal of course but not always an option. :D
  12. Moose had a black nose as a pup but it's mostly dark pink on the top now.
  13. Doin' his daily workout... They're kept inside when we aren't home so I can usually monitor how much sun time he gets. If he's lazing around out there I'll usually call him in after 20 minutes or so but this is pretty rare. He's usually too busy conducting important dog business (patrols, killing teddies, saying hello to neighbour dog, chasing bugs etc) to be lazing. If it's particularly warm I'll put a singlet type top on him to protect his back but there's plenty of shade out there and they always have access to the house. Interesting to know that they can sunburn badly though, will be extra vigilant with the Filta-Bac when he's out. One thing to note is that he has pink skin but his bald patch is black. I wonder if the melanin production is somewhat caused by the sun? It went black pretty quickly once his skin healed.
  14. Just wondering if anyone does? Are dogs effected by the sun like humans are? Moose loves playing outside and lazing around in the sun. I always put Filta-Bac on his bald patch (on his back) before he goes out but don't put it anywhere else. Should I be putting it on his nose (it's dark pink), ears or anywhere else? Or just limiting how much time he spends out there? Am I a worry wart? Yes. Here's my little fella today... As soon as I started typing this he came inside.
  15. Give Your Dog a Bone is good read, I got it from the library. I also found some bits a little tricky to follow and had to read them a few times but the book, combined with some googling was very helpful.
  16. I have no idea but he is a serious cutie-pie. I wanna play with his ears.
  17. My SWF just had a dental today and the vets sent her home with a complimentary bag of Hills T/D. Hope it works but I think I'll also start brushing. I give her chicken necks and wings but she doesn't chew them very much. She can swallow a neck whole, bit like a snake!!
  18. Zoe had her dental today and no problems whatsoever. She has nice white chompers now and didn't need any extractions. I also had them do full bloods which came back perfect and got her microchipped. I wasn't going to get her chipped as the couple of times she's gotten out of an open gate she walks straight to the front door and demands to be let back in. But it's definitely a good idea just in case, plus it was cheap! She's groggy now but hopefully will pick up tomorrow. She should sleep well tonight that's for sure! Thanks for all the good vibes!! ;)
  19. Moose does crumblies occasionally. I don't worry as long as he does regular ones too. Reminds me of something I'm pretty sure I read here about a dog that's poos were so dry just puffs came out. :D
  20. Awww hope he picks up soon. When Moose got stuck into some macadamias and was really unwell (with vomiting) it took him a couple of days to get his appetite back. Hopefully Cody just has a bit of a sore tummy. all goes okay tomorrow.
  21. Yay, such positive stories, I feel like a doof for being worried now!! I will mention the extra fluids Hafhafa, thanks. Not concerned about price if it makes her feel better. Thanks for well wishes Kirty. Sounds like we have some great golden oldies on the board.
  22. Thanks all, you're making me feel much better! ;) The Vet I'm going to now is excellent, they did a great job with Moose's burn so I feel pretty comfortable with them. Her breath is pretty bad so I'm thinking there might be a few extractions. I tried other teeth cleaning methods (more bones, strips of muscle meat, dry biccies etc) but she's just not a chewer (never has been) so it was quite difficult. Plus I think she was too far gone. Moose loves bones and chewing on toys so hopefully won't ever need his done. My dogs are 'cone freezers' too.
  23. That's good to hear Sheridan (not the stitches part!!), thanks. I have had to take many a day off work for my managerie. :D I work quite a ways from home so I'm going to take the day off so I'm only 10 mins away just in case. Plus someone has to stay home and snuggle with Moose in her absence!
