Do House Alarms Hurt Dogs Ears If They Go Off?
moosepup replied to moosepup's topic in General Dog Discussion
Okay thanks guys. We think we figured out what it was so it shouldn't go off now (unless we're being burgled!!). They don't seem to have been affected but I guess frequent exposure would be damaging. -
There's a lady down the road with a golden that has a large black patch on it's back. I have no idea of its parentage but it looks like a purebred besides the strange black patch, he's quite neat looking!

Do House Alarms Hurt Dogs Ears If They Go Off?
moosepup replied to moosepup's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks guys. My main concern is that we don't know what set it off so I don't want it going off all the time while they're home alone. I work over an hour away so it's not like I can pop home to check. -
I don't think so. I know some people have said they couldn't get onto ChipIn at work but then they could at home. Weird. No worries, I will find a way!

Do you need Flash installed to purchase tickets? I'm struggling on my iPad, might have to do it at work tomorrow.

Do House Alarms Hurt Dogs Ears If They Go Off?
moosepup replied to moosepup's topic in General Dog Discussion
No idea. I would say there's a 99% chance they were inside but they did have access to outside through the doggy door. They don't appear to be bothered, being their usual silly selves. It's pretty loud though so I wouldn't like to be stuck with it for 10 minutes! -
Went out for dinner and got a call from Chubb that house alarm was going off so went home but couldn't figure out what set it off. Anyways, the alarm sounds for 10 minutes, can it harm the dogs short/long term hearing?

a) Breed: SWF - Chi x Malt b) Age: 12.5 (so far) c) Diet: Supermarket dog food until I got Moose, joined DOL and learnt about BARF. I think the change to BARF (and the inclusion of Moose) has made a massive difference in her. She shed her excess weight, nose went nice and wet and black (was always dry and cracked before due to dry eye) and she has much more energy. d) Supplements: Vets All Natural Health Booster. I started giving them this on the recommendation of a DOLer after Moose was burnt and have continued with it. e) Exercise regime: She has a heart murmur and mild arthritis so vet has recommended just short walks for her which she gets in the afternoon/ evening. f) Temperament: Gentle, loyal, not very intelligent but a very sweet dog. g) Prior/current health concerns: Sickest dog we've ever owned but the longest lived, go figure. Busted cruciate at 2 years, immune mediated thrombocytopenia at 4, various bouts of dry eye and corneal cysts, unexplained enlarged spleen, and numerous other mild ailments. h) Living arrangements: Inside dog but has free access to outdoors, sleeps in bed with humans. i) Pictures!

Zoe is 12.5 years old. Dumb as hell but a little sweetie.

Moose responds to Mooseydipadopolis and Mooseysqushypants and Mooseykaboosey and variants. I think there's something wrong with me. Syllables should be the least of your worries. ;)

Why not leave him nude? My dogs are au naturale. ;)

We used to do it with little chip packets. You'd end up with mini Twisties. :D

So cheap too!

That's so cool! Looks awesome paired with your collar.

Yes it's important one knows ones place.

There would be tears here if I kicked Moose out of bed (and they wouldn't all be his ). I like RSG's suggestion, teach them the 'bed' command.

Bailed Up By A Roaming Dog! Scary....
moosepup replied to trinabean's topic in General Dog Discussion
That's so scary. We had a lady run up into our carport with her golden after she got bailed up by a dog in the street (very stocky bull breed looking thing). We went out there but couldn't get rid of it so I ended up driving her and her dog home. It was only 100m away but none of us were game enough to walk and there's no way we were letting her go on her own. ETA: we did report it but seeing as we didn't know where it lived (we suspect across the road) I don't know if council did anything about it. -
What pf said.

If it was dark chocolate I'd take him straight to the vet. At least a call otherwise.

I have a dinner plate Chihuahua.

That's what I'm thinking. As Pers said, they aren't machines. Now that I've made a vet appt hd slept like a baby and didn't stir once last night.

I imagine it's more difficult when your dogs willy is very close to the ground and he doesn't produce a whole lotta wee.

I've got an appt on Saturday morning. I work over an hour from home so it's near impossible for me to take them during the week (barring emergencies of course). He's otherwise well in himself, not straining to go and there's no blood or anything so hopefully it'll be ok to wait til Saturday. What shall I attempt to collect a sample in? He stops peeing if I go near him.

Moose has been doing this for the last few nights. He pees before we go to bed but wakes me up around 4am to go again. Do UTI's need to be treated straight away or can I just take him to the vet on the weekend? Also, do they test for UTI or just treat with AB's in case that's what it is? I don't fancy him letting me get a sample.
