  1. Ummm I don't mean to sound crass but I'm surprised she survived the mating to be honest!
  2. Yep, must be his Mexican heritage, built for heat! ;) The only thing he does do when it's really hot is flop around dramatically on the tiles, but still no pant.
  3. I used to panic because of the opposite, Moose hardly ever pants! I can take him for a walk on a 40 degree day and he'll barely stick his tongue out. The other dog starts panting when you clip the leash on. I wouldn't worry, maybe just bring it up at his next vet visit.
  4. My dad got up to answer the phone once, leaving his sandwich unattended. Ren (our old dog) managed to extract and eat the ham, leaving all other fillings and bread in place. He was nicknamed Houdini after that. :D
  5. I've tried explaining to Moose that it's more fun if the squeakers and fluff are inside but he says 'no deal'.
  6. It's not so much letting him get away with it for me, it's more that I'm not 100% confident doing it either so it just exacerbates both our stress levels! Moose's nails are tiny and I live in fear of cutting them too short, splitting a nail, breaking his chicken legs while holding onto him etc. Easier for both of us to let the pros do it.
  7. If I try and do Moose's he cries, then I cry and it's a whole emotional affair so I just get the groomer to do his when Zoe goes in for grooming. He let's her do it, little so n so.
  8. Congrats, they're gorgeous!! Puppy overboard!
  9. Are we going to have a sticky for every possible health emergency? I'm happy for people to ask for help/advice on a case by case basis. It might just save a dogs life if an unsure/scared owner posts and is advised to go to the vet.
  10. It isn't my dog, my friend rang me because she wasn't sure what was wrong with him, she didn't ask me to ask here, that was my choice. As I've already said, I thought it sounded like it might be bloat but I had NEVER heard of a whippet getting bloat before, also since I couldn't actually see the dog I wasn't sure of the symptoms. As it happened she did take him to the vet pretty quickly. Yes, I know, I read it. I don't want to be a critical, judgemental grump and this isn't aimed particularly at you. I really do wonder, though, why people (not you in particular) bother asking online. What do they expect? If it's a potential emergency, all anyone can say is "best go to the vet". To be fair, not every dog owner is super dog savvy and knows exactly what things to watch out for. They probably aren't sure if it's worth rushing their dog to an expensive emergency vet for and are seeking reassurance or confirmation that they should. I don't think there's anything wrong with coupling that with a bit of common sense. If I rushed Moose off for every cough, weird noise, stinky smell, I'd be a very poor woman!
  11. Yay! Great news about Petey. We need more photos. ;)
  12. Mine is. It's like pulling teeth getting them to do the 3 yearly vaccine.
  13. These threads always make me question myself. People that worm 2 - 3 times a year, do you use the monthly wormers for this? And how do you know when to do it? Heartworm - what's the best source of info on heartworm areas? Vacc - I haven't done Moose since his 12 month booster (he's nearly 3) and Zoe hasn't been done since she was about 5 (she's 12 now). If you go with C3 triennially is it exactly the same injection as the annual? I'm going to titre test but just curious.
  14. You could try PM'ing Amstaffs4me or itsmeg. They've both made coats/PJs for dogs. Amstaffs4me made these ones but I'm not sure if she still does.
  15. I thought they were put into this ladies yard and a gate closed behind them so unless they have thumbs I'd say they were stolen. Scumbags.
  16. Besides the money factor, if for whatever reason I (or my family) couldn't keep Moose I'd actually WANT him to go back to his breeder, someone who loves the breed and I trust would look after him well, not some stranger in the Trading Post that I don't know in the slightest.
  17. If you can't be bothered/ can't deal with it then do the right (and possibly legal) thing and give her back to the breeder as you agreed to do when you ourchased her. Gosh I don't know about anyone else but before shelling out $2500 on anything I'd want to be fairly committed.
  18. I got the email (the acknowledgement one).
  19. Good tip wags, thanks. There were a crapload of cobwebs in front of the sensor so we think it was either that or spideys setting it off.
  20. $43 seems quite high. Check out PetSecure. We're with them and It's only about $28 per month.
