It might have been worth it for you, because in Australia you can sue to reclaim costs, and poor Moosey needed a lot of hours of nursing and vet care. Similar to how another person here was able to take legal action when her horse was injured by their product. She could recover the substantially costs she incurred in getting the horse well again. Oh yes, I probably wouldn't have even had to sue to get them to cover my costs but at the time my priority was him and I was so angry and upset I couldn't stand to even contact them. All is well now though (mostly!) and I avoid that practice like the plague! Yes, yes, yes!!

This is crazy. I'm so sorry Caz, this must feel like an absolute nightmare, I just can't even comprehend it. Moose was injured (and scarred for life) by a vet and to this day I still have some regrets about not pursuing it further beyond taking him elsewhere. I'd be suing the groomer, not necessarily for compensation (the only thing I'd want is my boy back) but so they're held accountable for this utterly deplorable act of negligence. I would want the business closed. Run free Buddy, you didn't deserve this sweet boy.

Could People Think You Have Abused Your Dog?
moosepup replied to far_kenell_73's topic in General Dog Discussion
Moose has a decent sized burn scar on his back and I always worry that people will think it was me when it actually happened at the vet. -

As opposed to non living human? Very scary, my first thought was a mans voice too It could be a zombie. I stand corrected  Yep, I'm pretty sure this is a precursor to a zombie apocalypse. In which case, Aidan can gleefully post on FB that he did warn everyone.

I've listened to it a few times now and it still sounds human to me, especially the beginning of 'the noise'. Very very freaky. I have one of our webcams now trained at the dog door.

I don't like this. Man, you're braver than I yellowgirl, I'd be outta there!!

Tehe! I love Tiny Pony.

. ..and I am very glad you don't :) That is not a comfortable way at all to pick up a dog of any size, IMO ..they are not built like human babies .. Moose hates this too. I always pick him up either 2 hands under his chest if picking him up to put him somewhere (lounge/bed etc) or one hand under his chest and one under the butt if carrying him around. I don't get snarls if heading to the bath, I get ears back and sad eyes. I agree with others, make sure you pick him up a few times a day and do something fun like play a game or give a treat (once he's not snarling of course). He needs to not associate it with just baths. Of course, if he keeps doing it make sure you do get him vet checked to make sure it's not pain related. Good luck. :)

Heartworm Protection Dosage Intervals?
moosepup replied to teekay's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I give Interceptor Spectrum every 6 weeks. :) -
Well I figure if a baby can wear it, the dog should be okay. Most vets I've asked have been a bit vague. Just make sure they don't lick it heaps and don't get it in their eyes and you should be right. :)

What a brave boy!! The vet sounds excellent, I'm sure it will all go off without a hitch. :) :)

Moose's is like that too, it grew back at a jaunty angle. Hope Panda heals up ok!

Our old dog Ren had a lypoma on his chest, near his belly. It was about golf ball sized and he had it til the day he was given his wings (for unrelated reasons). If its not causing him any discomfort it should be ok to leave it if he doesn't need a GA for his wart thingy. Obviously check with your vet though if it's gotten bigger and is concerning you. When is his appt?
-
A snip and cauterize would be ideal! Perhaps he'd only need a light sedation then rather than a full GA. Let us know how you go!
-
I like the consistency of Filtabac (dries into a film of sorts) but I find it really dries out Moose's skin and makes it flaky. It could be because the skin in that spot I think is already quite thin (burn scar) but I have heard similar reports from others about the dryness. Lately I've just been using toddler sunscreen.
-
Definitely a good idea to get as much done as you can so he only has to go under GA once, poor fella. He'll be okay though and happy once he's back home. Keep us updated. :)

Oooh it looks strange! I'd probably be having it removed now too before it had the opportunity to get any bigger, get knocked or develop into something else. Perhaps a 2nd opinion is in order too? Hopefully it's nothing.

Bison The Rottweiler And His Lymphoma Battle
moosepup replied to DerRottweiler's topic in Palliative Care Forum
Thanks for sharing your journey DR, I find these types of things massively helpful and I'm sure other DOLers do too. It's excellent that you're feeling positive about it, I'm a big believer in trusting your instinct and sometimes you just know how things are going to go. He's such a gorgeous looking boy, I hope his side effects are few and he comes out the other side of treatment with the best prognosis possible. PS. Love his name! Nothing like naming your dog after a large non-dog related species. ;) :D -
Does Moose qualify? When my dad was a kid his mum (my nanna) had a vicious daschund called Tiny Teckle Tuppence of Primrose Patch, Tuppy for short!
-
What others have said, I just buy chews appropriate for their weight, that way I know I'm not over or under dosing by chopping it up.

Moose has been to the emergency vet twice after eating macadamias. Both times he lost the use of his back legs. It's not worth the risk for me and I've banned them from the house.
