  1. Delighted to hear that its all going so well! And well done for putting the work in to work out what your little man needed from you. You'll need to change the title of the thread to little Puppy-Angel!
  2. Stewie is a little cutie! Hopefully now after a few days in with some of the great you've been given you are all beginning to settle into a routine that works for you as well as Stewie. I've posted a couple of times on other threads, but there are 2 books which can be downloaded for free (in Jan 09) which cover nearly all of the things pre or new puppy parents should know about and helpful guidance on all the basic issues of socialisation, with dogs and people, house training etc. They are written by an excellent canine behavourist, Dr Ian Dunbar who only uses positive training methods so you can rely on books will do no harm to you pup, only lots of good! 'After You Get Your Puppy' http://www.dogstardaily.com/training/after...-get-your-puppy 'Before You Get Your Puppy' http://www.dogstardaily.com/training/you-get-your-puppy
  3. Excellent book - which you can download for free this month - covers toilet training, socialisation and everything else you might wonder about ' After You Get Your Puppy' by Dr Ian Dunbar - an exceptional canine behaviourist http://www.dogstardaily.com/training/after...-get-your-puppy Love whippets...what colour is your boy?
  4. I've posted this link elsewhere, but if you have some time do download Dr Ian Dunbar's book 'After You get Your Puppy' and read it. He's an excellent canine behaviourist, and in order to stop unruly pups ending up in shelters, for the month of January you can download this excellent book for free! It deals with the everyday ups and downs of pups and gives sensible and easy to follow suggestions using positive training methods as to how to get back on the right track with your dog or pup. http://www.dogstardaily.com/free-downloads In deed you can also get 'Before you get your puppy' for free too - It sounds like you've a big bouncy girl to whom living in the house is strange and she's all over the place, and doesn't know her own size and weight which isn't helping. If you feel that Daisy isn't the right dog for you, please let the AWL know, and I'm sure they will help you find the right dog, and ensure that Daisy gets into the home that fits her.
  5. Link to free download of 'After You Get Your Puppy' http://www.dogstardaily.com/training/after...-get-your-puppy Good luck and hope things start to improve. My pleasure - as newbie to this forum wasn't sure if it had already been put up - on the assumption its not I'll start a new thread so it can get a wider audience - as these (as 'Before you get your puppy' is also available to download free) are excellent books.
  6. Hi Guapa, Hope Phoenix is beginning to settle - it sounds like he and you are feeding off each other's anxieties... try and relax and enjoy each other, this will all seem a distant memory. I would reintroduce a clean bed - if he's disorientated the random giving and taking away of beds etc. will only confuse him more. The fact the he pee'd on his bed is an indicator that he's got so confused and anxious about where and when he can /can't go, that the he then pee'd on the place where he felt secure. Also some sensitive dogs don't like enthusiastic praise, it just confuses them, a couple of quiet softly spoken words often works best. There is a truly excellent canine behaviourist, Dr Ian Dunbar, and on his site he is allowing anyone to download his book, 'After You Get Your Puppy' FREE as part of his shelter dog prevention month. You will find some excellent advice and protocols dealing with all puppy and dog issues including house training Link to free download of 'After You Get Your Puppy' http://www.dogstardaily.com/training/after...-get-your-puppy Good luck and hope things start to improve. j
