Hello everyone I'm hoping to get some recommendations for Miniature Schnauzer breeders around Brisbane please. I didn't have the best of luck with my last puppy purchase a couple of years ago. I thought I had found a wonderful breeder, but ended up coming home with a very sick puppy (parvo). Luckily she is ok now, however I would like to avoid an experience like this again at all costs! Any recommendations will be much appreciated :) This will be my first mini - a friend for my Boston Terrier. I'm hoping a mini's personality will be a good match for my very outgoing and active Boston.

I am so happy for you!!!!!!! It has bought me to tears. We had to bring our Molly and Chuzzy home in a black bag. Its heart warming to hear that you have a happy result. Rexiam, I'm so sorry to hear about your babies ;) Yes I will definitely be keeping her on Cellfood. I have started adding it to her regular drinking water. She doesn't even notice the difference anymore I will look into the Manuka honey too. I just found out today that Mollie is the only surviving puppy of the litter... She is a very very lucky (and stubborn) little girl!

We got a late Christmas present this year - our puppy (Mollie) came home yesterday! She still has a cough - it turns out she got pheumonia as well, hence the fluid on the lungs and low oxygen levels. Her eating has returned to normal, I have to try not to over feed her now because she just won't stop. She has almost 2 weeks worth of food to catch up on! She is still pretty quite and a bit unsteady on her feet, I guess it may take her a few weeks to fully recover and get back to the bouncing little puppy that we started off with? Hopefully lots of sleep and love will do the trick. I hope that no one else ever has to go through what we have in the past 2 weeks. All I can say is don't give up on the little ones and don't take no for an answer! Now the toilet training begins... After 2 weeks of been confined to a vets cage she thinks she can go anywhere she likes!

We went to see puppy tonight. She is looking soooo much better. It really is amazing how much she has improved. The vet and nurses are astounded. She was jumping around in her cage and gave us lots and lots of licks when we held her. Her white blood cell count is still low, so we have to wait until that goes back to normal until we can take her home. Hopefully not too much longer now

So happy to hear your puppy is improving. Was the product you gave her CellFood by any chance? I ask because I use this product for my sick dogs. Yes it was cellfood We gave her some again tonight so fingers crossed!

The vet called last night and said she didn't expect the puppy to make it through the night. Earlier in the day she got fluid on her lungs from a secondary infection. She was on oxygen all day but it didn't seem to help. The vet said that if we did not put her to sleep that she would probably go into cardiac arrest that night and pass away anyway. So we went in at about 9pm last night to say our goodbyes, we decided to continue with treatment and let it work itself out. She looked horrible and really didn't move at all. She was just like a lump. It was horrible to see her like that, one of the nurses was even in tears. We gave her a natural product in one last grab attempt to save her which puts oxygen into the body then left it at that. So we woke up this morning expecting the worst, but we actually woke to good news. Our puppy was up and moving around a little and was actually interested in food! She hasn't vomited or had diahorrea all day. She is still on the oxygen, but they are trying to wean her off it as it is very expensive! The vet can't explain how she over came this, she said she's never seen it happen before. Our puppy still certainly isn't out of the woods, but we really have hope after last night. The vet and nurses said she didn't have a chance and she made it through the night and is looking 10x better today. I just hope the worst of it is over and that its all up hill from here!

The vet called this morning and they have decided not to go with the feeding tube today. I think they want to hold off doing that for as long as possible. From what some people have posted it seems they can go quite a while without food. Shes still vomiting and has diahorrea... On the plus side she is still alert and moving around in her cage which the vet is quite surprised about considering how young and sick she is. As at today the vet bill is at $2500, money well spent so far because she is still here fighting. I will keep you all updated, hopefully with some good news in the next few days

We went to visit our puppy at the vet today. She won't eat. They've been trying to syringe feed her, but she seems to spit most of it out. They said if she doesn't start eating by tomorrow they're going to have to put a feeding tube in Her white blood cell count is also down at the moment. She is moving around in her cage though and the vet and nurses said that she jumps up if someone comes in the room, so shes not completely out of it. Its almost been 7 days since her symptoms started, no one can really tell us when we will know if she will make it or not. I just hope our little girl can hold on and keep fighting!

Thank you all for your kind comments Our puppy is a Boston Terrier. The vet called us early this morning. She said that our puppy had brightened up over night and was bouncing around. She also said that she was only sick and had diahorrea once thoughout the night. She then called us later this afternoon and said that they had fed her during the day and she couldn't keep the food down. She did a half solid poo, so I guess thats better than nothing. The vet also said that she was a little more depressed during the day, this could be because she was feeling upset from the food. The vet did say that she's not getting any worse, so I guess thats a good sign... They've still got her on a drip, plasma and antibiotics. We don't know what to think at this stage. We were so happy that she was getting better this morning, and now things aren't looking as good... Its really a rollercoaster of emotions. Does anyone know if its normal for the pups to pick up and then drop down a bit before they get better? It has only been 2 days since the symptoms started and from what i've found from reading other peoples stories on the net it can take about a week for them to improve?

We were the first to pick up our puppy from the litter. I've spoken to the breeder, she said that the other pups are now at the vet as they were showing signs of parvo and have tested positive Shes very reputable, has been breeding and showing dogs for 30 years. The vet did say at 3pm that our puppy had only vomited and had diahorrea once in a 2hr period and that she had brightened up a little bit. But then in the next sentence said that things can get worse before they get better... So I don't know what to think. This is just so upsetting, the vet can't really say whether or not the puppy will make it, but then I guess they don't know themselves. I just hate to think that the puppy is suffering in pain for no reason.

We bought home our new 8 wk old puppy on Saturday. She was very happy and playful until late last night - she vomited for the first time at 10.30pm then again during the night with diahorrea. We took her to the vet first thing this morning. The vet is fairly certain that she has Parvo, so has started her on a drip and antibiotics. Its a 24hr vet so she will be monitored and treated throughout the night. For today alone though the vet bill is $1000. I have done some research of my own and have read alot of positive reviews/success stories with a natural rememdy called Parvaid. Has anyone heard of this product and most importantly does anyone know where I can get this from in Australia? I want to give our puppy the very best chance of survival and will try everything I can. It seems that it is best used within the first 48 hours so I need to get it quickly. Has anyone else had a young pup with Parvo? Needless to say I am very upset at the moment and will try anything.
