  1. Sorry no help here...just wanted to wish you well with your boy and hope he makes a full recovery. What an ordeal for you to go through. You have a strong boy.
  2. Sounds like Anal glands. As for the rash..Alpha Keri oil/lotion will stop the itch.
  3. Try not to stress so much. In regards to the toys...dont give them to your pup all at once...interchange them so she doesnt get bored while your away. As for toilet training... I would place a large kitty litter tray in the room while your gone. I wouldnt use kitty litter in case your pup tries to eat it I would simply put sand or dirt. I dont give rawhide bones or pigs ears to mine. I have heard of too many pups/dogs choking on them. When training my pups I use a simple and firm No! when they are doing wrong. I dont praise them afterwards as I feel it would be encouraging them to do wrong just to get praise. When they do right like come on command, sit, or when they potty outside etc they get lots of praise then. Is it possible for someone to go and check on your pup and give her her mid meal and a toilet break at lunch time? That may help the with the time of being left alone a little easier on her and you knowing someone has checked and fed her and all is well so less stress on you too. Good Luck with your puppy. I am sure all will be fine.
  4. I would remove the collar till she forgets about it or you can get a bittering agent to stop dogs chewing things. I dont know what its called as ive never used it. Hope this helps. :D
  5. My goodness 25 pages long!!!! WoW...cant wait for my puppies to try them..sounds like they're addictive.
  6. Thanks Kosti. I had a look and just put an order in for the Perfect Puppy treats. ETA: Corrected a spelling mistake.
  7. I only ever give them as a treat when training them, they never get alot of them at once. I was breaking 1 strip up between 2 pups as a reward. I guess I wont give them from now on. I dont buy supermarket dog food for them they are both on premium foods, it was only the schmacko's I occassionally bought.
  8. Thanks for that Puggy Puggy . I'm glad I never gave them any, all going in the bin now. I always buy Smacko's for my pups as a treat and they love them. I'm very fussy about what to feed them and those hard thingy's never 'looked' right. Thanks again. ;)
  9. Hi....I hope this doesnt sound too stupid but..... I am a regular customer to Pet Barn. Every time I go there they give 'freebie' treats to bring home. I have never given any of these treats to my dogs as I am unsure if they are good for them as they dont have any info on the packaging. I have now got quite a few of these packets. I never remember to ask the staff when I am there and its not in my local town. They are called Chewy Bits. Some are shaped like the Smacko's strips but are quite hard and are yellow and red and some are in the shape of donuts only smaller. I am also worried about them being a choking hazzard. Does anyone else get these and do you give them to your dogs? ETA: The dogs I have are 2 young British Bulldog pups. Would they be safe to give???
  10. with your new little pup. She is absolutely gorgeous!!!!
  11. haha.. thanks. i was just thinking if puppy can overdose on worm tablets or whatever.. No probs.
  12. The breeder should have told you when he was wormed and what they used. I would give him a dose anyway...its better to be safer and it wont hurt him.
  13. Ahh... lol. this is going to be interesting... i wonder if that's a chore, my OH will want to take. he wants to bond with Charlie and all.. Well.. its worth a shot!!!
  14. Years ago I had a Pekingese.... trimming of the bum and anal expressing was a common occurence... you get used to it after a while.
  15. grooming at the butt area.. that's a first for me!! And prob wont be the last!!!
  16. If his fur is getting in the way might be an idea to give him a little trim in his bum area.
  17. Do you know if the breeder wormed him at all and if so when it was and what they wormed him with.... it could just be that he needs a good worming. Dont go panicking as it is most probably something as simple as that, especially if he's a pup that likes to pick things off the ground.
  18. I would be sticking to the same routine you always had unless a problem arises.
  19. Do you have any Lectade or any other type of electrolytes you can give him? as this will help stop him from dehydrating from the diorrhea.
  20. I give the Performa 3 oil the  It is good quality and affordable. 4 litres is around $38-. Give 5mls on the food once a day. Heres some of what it says straight from the bottle: PERFORMA-3 OIL ---The Good Oil. Most oils are deficient in Omega 3 and have excessive amounts of Omega 6 which produce inflammatory reactions. VITAMITE PERFORMA 3 is a unique formulation combining scientifically balanced levels of Omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids. This balance provides all the beneficial effects of feeding oils without risks of inflammatory conditions to the vascular system, the muscles and joints which can occur especially when the Omega 6:3 fatty acid ratio is unbalanced. Omega 3 oils act to moderate inflammatory responses , but most oils including Corn, Cottonseed, Sunflower, and Safflower are deficient in Omega 3. Omega 3 oils have been shown to increase red cell flexibility-improving circulation, blood supply and oxygen delivery. Hope this helps.
  21. I should of added in my earlier post that I in the past have fed chicken necks and never had a problem. The only one I have heard of that did have a problem was my friends dog that died and that was the reason they gave me  .They found a build up of crushed bone? when they operated and it was too late and he died on the table . Apparently this dog was fed alot of pet grade chicken mince plus their dry food. I had never seen this dog as we live quite a distance from each other, I hope it wasnt from a poor diet as they seemed to really love their dog. I had just been very weary since they told me that thats all.
  22. A friend of mine had a dog that died becuase it had a build up of fine chicken bone fragments that didnt break down and stayed in the pit of his stomach and created a blockage. Along with his regular food he was feeding him chicken necks and pet chicken mince (which apparently contains very fine bone).
  23. I am under the impression that Puppy Pyoderma is a form of dermatitis and not Puppy Strangles. I looked it up and found this info: HERE I would also give her a bath with Malaseb wash. Hope this helps.
  24. Try bathing her in Malaseb wash. It works well for all sorts of rashes.
  25. Have you checked to see if a grass seed has entered her body? They can be nasty little buggers. If one has it can cause an infection and yes the glands will swell. If this is the case the quicker you get a grass seed out the better as they can travel in the dogs system and cause all sorts of damage. How long has she had the rash for? A rash can be from numerous different things.,but I think the most common is usually caused by a bacteria infection and yep this will cause the glands to swell too. It can be easily treated with treatment of antibiotics from your vet. Malaseb wash is fantastic for skin allergies too and will help if your dog is itching from the rash. Hope this helps.
