  1. Oooww! Nice one of Abbey, don't suppose you got any of Jenna the other Aussie on Mirrawee's team?
  2. I could always ask J if you can do a NFC Novice jumping round with Abbey Although she may be preggers then... Not sure she would say yes Mirawee, no offence intended Rubystar but even with Jenna there are very few people I would let handle her over a course, not that many would want to of course being the little nutter she is. But I can't really speak for her so who knows.
  3. Aww there's my little man! Winpara you must have a good zoom lens to capture him looking so big, and it looks like he is jumping heaps higher than 300 I saw you with Mia, she is very cute! Poor little Kyzer slept pretty much all yesterday, he had a big weekend! What a great shot of Kyzer, well done Winapara.
  4. That is the cutest picture, I love Ragdolls. I have a BengalX that loves my Aussie even though she does play rough but isn't too keen on my Papillon probabaly because he always wants to lick and fuss her. Use to have a purebred Bengal but the Aussie stressed her out too much as she was rather a nervous cat.
  5. Glad you got her back safely, she is such a sweetie, would have been horriable to get home to no dog, so glad she got picked up quickly so that she didn't get lost or hurt.
  6. Mason only gets itchy at certain times of the year and also on certain spots, tummy, legs, flanks, and face are where he itches. His eyes swell if he touches some plants and/or certain grasses. I have made sure that I am using a natural laundry detergent etc but it doesnt seem to have helped that much he is still itchy and he only used to itch morning and evening which is bad enough but now he itches early hours of the morning and that wakes us up. I am going to go to the Rally U seminar in July, I spoke to my club and they said that when they know more thay may offer training too, if they do thats cool or else I may also join Eden Hill for Rally O training. MM - being that it's certain times of the year, it's possible that it is atopy, or otherwise known as inhalant allergies... unlike us, the irritation in dogs allergic to certain things comes out in the skin. Common areas are as you described, face, feet and chest/tummy area. Without going into too much detail about desensitisation injections and cortisone, you can try things like getting Mason on fish oil or omega 3, using an oatmeal shampoo or, if very bad, a shampoo like malaseb can do wonders, but Malaseb can be very drying so only use if it gives relief. Another thing you can do, if it gets very bad, is have Mason have a skin test. A number of vets do these now and it helps to find what he is allergic to, so that you can get rid of those things if possible. You can go one step further and have a serum made up and do desensitisation injections. Spartan (far left in siggy) had very bad skin allergies and still has set backs now. he was diagnosed at about 12 months or so with Atopy, and had to go on cortisone because he was so bad. he used to have to wear a t-shirt and boots to stop him from scratching and biting. he started his desensitisation at around 16 months, and slowly came off cortisone. He has been steroid free for a number of years now, but unfortunately still suffers when seasons change, much like i do with hayfever!! Unfortunately, I am something of an expert when it comes to dealing with skin issues. Congrats to bedazzled for her win with brooklyn!! YAY WA!! :p Hi ST, That is exactly what Mason has but lucky its not really very very bad, he does scratch etc at certain times of the day but not enough to break the skin or even make his skin pink, his eyes do swell if he touches diff plants. We went to the Naturopath today and I need to get him the EP Holistic Select Salmon and Anchovy, start him on fish oil capsules and give him some natural hayfever relief when he is itchy or has the swollen eyes. No chicken, beef or lamb etc, he can have liver treats though. I forgot to ask what I an use as training treats I usually use BBQ sausages but those are out, maybe I need to use fish fingers If he is allowed roo or fish you could make him some roo meatballs or fishballs perhaps.
  7. Thanks Lyndsay. Wheaties are born very dark too, but lighten up due to a brindle gene I believe Still never seen a Kerry 'in the fur' I saw my first Kerry 'in the fur' recently, it was only a youngster so was black and I didn't recognise it, beautiful dog though. That's interesting about the Weaties, we have one here doing Agility and at least one I know of in the show ring , again a lovely breed.
  8. So does one of mine and the other is sterilised (it is nice not having to worry about if they are coming in any more!) But you need to collect numbers by the end of vetting too I keep checking waclick to see if the catalogue has been posted I am sure it was last year! ETA: States isn't as early on Sat as I thought either. But will still stay down that way I think if I can scam a bed Just gives more time to go and get Maccas for breakfast Hey Mirrawee, I don't mind giving you brekkie as well as a bed Hey, Amypie will have a spot for you, treats or no treats. Welcome to join us at the Nationals too if you want. Fingers crossed everyone that we have nice weather for it. Is there room for me and Toby at Nationals? Please. The more the merrier!!! We can party I'll be stewarding on Thurs, Frid arvo but will be free in the morning to watch Mirrawee and Jenna and everyone else. Will be catching up with some interstate friends too.
  9. Woohoo, knew they would fly the flag high for WA, they are an awesome team as is Plotomy and her NSDT's.

  11. I was just having a look at your siggy, it's very nice , Valley CBR is very clever isn't she, she made mine too.
  12. Well one might be, the other mmm who knows but it's not worth you travelling in really bad weather even if training was on. Besides don't want you to break a leg or something on wet grass just before the states and Nationals, not that I would want you to break anything any other time either. Thanks for the heads up guys on no training, hope the weather holds of until I get home from DNA testing. I guess not, souds like the rain has just hit here, might go get my powercut stuff out again......just in case. Jojo has been brought in from his avairy too ......just in case.
  13. Oh bugger. So are you wanting to leave training tonight Mirrawee? It's a long way for you to come if the weather is no good. I've got to go down tonight anyway as Jenna is getting a DNA test done but must go find her papers. Looks normal enough here at the moment but who knows, last storm struck without alot of pre warning.
  14. Mel was saying something about training being closed for a couple of weeks for all other than instructors and competitors till after the Nationals, so you might want to check before going out in the cold. Can't remember when it was starting as it did not effect Jenna and Mirrawee. Hi Longdog, to joining all us crazy dog people, Ruby looks sweet. Plotomy and Bdazzeled, maybe you should let the dogs navigaite for you :D . Don't tire out those pups too much, they have to be fresh for the Nationals so that WA can kick butt.
  15. I don't find Rosie crazy at all, she is just full of the joy of life like Jenna is, I like dogs that are that way they are fun to be around.
  16. Best of luck Ptolomy and Bedazzled know you guys will fly the flag high for WA, have a safe and sucessful journey. Yes. Mirawee's bickies where yummy but the obedience people ate ALL the Macadamia ones and there wasn't any left for me. :p On a brighter note my Sis made her famous caramel slice and shared it with me and not the obedience people :p
  17. Jenna could end up thrown over the pound fence on the way home on Friday, might mean a slight detour but if today was anything to go by I may have blown my dough entering her in the States and National. Hope your reading this Jenna! Throw her over my fence thanks... Hey does that mean you would be willing to adopt her if anything ever happened to me? My son sidestepped this question pretty quickly when I asked him. I wonder why!
  18. Yep, have to admit I did wonder if she was maybe still a little sore with her behaviour today. Definetly want to fit in a visit to the chiro if we can. On hindsight I couldn't blame her for last years behaviour as she was trying to tell us she was hurting. Heck, you know I'd never throw her over the pound fence and I'll keep blowing money on her one way or the other. :p

  20. My Aussie is trained to find the carkeys, which is really helpful given how often I loose them, only trouble is one day I caught her hiding them. I was in another rooom when I heard the tinkle of the keys and poked my head out in time to see her taking them of the table then across to her toy box where she dropped them in and then walked away. Didn't let on I'd seen her and a few minutes later I came out and asked her to find my keys, well no searching needed she went straight to the toybox got the keys and waited for her reward. Another time I had just got a Manners Minder (training remote food dispenser) and was trying it out. It was a hot day so instead of going for our walk I thought she could get exercised in the A/C house by placing the target at one end of the house and the MM at the other. She had to touch the target and then I would dispense a treat and she would have to walk a fair distance to get it. Well she did this a few times and then gave me that look that said I know there is an easier way mum, so this time after targeting she did not go across to the MM to get the treat just looked to make sure it was there and then turned and targeted again. Ok I though lets see if this was just a fluke, so I paid up again at the MM and she then walked across and got the 2 treats. She continued doing this double target for double treats a couple of times each time looking across to check that I paid up for the first target before doing the 2nd target and then gave me that look again. This time when she went to the target she picked it up took it over to the MM and then targeted it. Yep, I paid up but then put the MM away as I decided she was just way to smart for me and it's scary just how well she can think things out. I bought her a skateboard with the intention of teaching her how to use it but as soon as I put it in front of her she was on it and scooting across the room, I'm sure she's been here before, I hate to say it but my dog is smarter than me.
  21. Yep have to agree, although I did welcome an afternoon siesta. The trip didn't seem so long but was just over 100km round trip, so might knock my petrol budget all to hell, there are drawbacks to driving a tank.
  22. Well, I guess not much housework will be done in my household tomorrow, I will have to come down and have your cookies, I know from experience that they are yummy. No, I hadn't forgotten that we are going to have an agility training session, just had planned to do some work first, but eating cookies has more appeal. Ho hum why can't the fairies do my housework during the night, I HATE housework. See you tomorrow Mirrawee, make lots of cookies.
  23. Was it fetchindawgs? I think u might be right!!! I have had a full on day at the show today, I won Best in Show at the Saint Bernard specialty Champ show, Runner Up in SHow at the Open show and then Baby in Show at the Chihuahua show. I just couldnt be bothered going back thru all the pages Wow, sounds like a very successful day for you, congratulations, hope you had fun celebrating. Also sounds like you went from one of the biggest to the smallest dog, so you must be very versitle but I bet tired by now. Yep, wasn't me for the crate I already have heaps in a variety of sizes which came in handy the other week with the storm as even Jojo(Galah) got grabbed out of his avairy and stuffed in a dog crate so that he could be safely inside. Luckily my son had called to warn me that he was in the middle of it and it was heading my way.
  24. Cider is going to stay with Aunty Zoe for a while so she will be there if she is a good girl between now and then I introduced her to her first wing tonight Cider, not Zoe, yep I wore gloves as I have a thing about touching dead things Eeeww, me too, was just thinking it was a pity retrieving was only for gundogs until I read that. Stupid me thought they used dummy retrieves, but I guess I'm the dummy.
